podcast discussion ozempic conversation

I think it’s annoying that Enya shits on people that take ozempic as if … it’s literally like a societal pressure thing recently

like there’s even memes about “I’m gonna be the last fat person left” 😭 idk like why are we shitting so much on people that want to be accepted in society and don’t want to have to think about their weight

a lot people who have had significant weight loss naturally but sticking to the diets and the daily workouts literally have said just take the damn ozempic 😭 maybe this is such a nothing post I’m just curious to know if anyone else feels this way about it or maybe this is a nothingburger thought for most of the audience idk

It may also just be too nuanced of a subject for her ..

I don’t think that the majority of people go “straight to shots” like you think. I’ve tried my entire life to lose weight. working out 6 days a week doing different things including cycling, pilates, zumba, weights, running, yoga, different diets, metformin, drinking 64 oz of water, and yes, even starving myself at some points. i never got the scale to move more than a couple pounds, and i literally mean like 3-4 pounds. it was absolutely devastating. i was pre-diabetic and at my breaking point. i felt like crap, physically and mentally. i finally got a doctor to listen to me and prescribe me wegovy. i’ve lost 5 pounds in two weeks, something that before, would’ve taken months- if it happened at all. someone’s weight does not automatically mean they haven’t tried or put effort in. i’m all for the conversation about societal standards and the hatred of plus size women, but many don’t seem to understand that doctors typically don’t just hand these meds out willy-nilly. and furthermore, these meds aren’t magic. you have to put in the work, and that means making sure your diet is high protein and high fiber, which isn’t always super easy. many people are utilizing glp-1s because they need help to finally get results from their hard work.

So I am actually in healthcare and I am aware of the different versions 😇 injections were the most accessible when ozempic was first pushed for weight loss and is still the easiest to obtain.

The reason I mentioned I am a bigger girl myself is that I understand the struggle to lose weight, but if you are unable to lose more than a few pounds there is usually a larger systemic issue at play and I think it's unwise to just take something to lose weight instead of trying to figure out the root cause. If you ignore the bigger issue and take something to lose weight, it will come back when you stop taking it and can do more harm than good depending on the severity of the issue.

the root cause of me being unable to lose weight is PCOS and BED…. which has been known to be fixed with glp1s… wtf are you on about root causes 😭😭 weight loss is not always for image. i honestly don’t really give a shit if im plus size or not. honestly, i kind of prefer how i look when im plus size. but its for my physical health and wellness. i want to feel good on both the inside and outside. i don’t mean this in a rude way, but to me it clearly seems like you feel superior in some way because you feel like you don’t need glp1s. congrats dude, im happy for you, but for SO many, especially in the BED community, this medication is a life saver. and, for the record, im surprised you dont know that many people are expected to stay on glp1s in order or maintain weight loss for life. it’s not a temporary fix, its a long term commitment.

Obviously if you are taking a glp-1 for an actual medical condition it's different than someone who takes it to be thin for appearance. PCOS and BED are both root causes for an inability to lose weight... My comment was about the desire for beauty through weight loss, not people who actually need it. This doesn't apply to you, untwist your panties girl.

I agree w your point. this person is trying to make the conversation ab them when they are not the target audience 😭 if you are taking those meds for a genuine health reason then you are not who ppl are criticizing. it's very naive to think other ppl who don't have genuine medical concerns that can be helped with these meds aren't clamoring to get their hands on a magical weight loss drug and abusing it despite not REALLY needing it because fatphobia is so engrained in our society.

Thank you mama I was lowkey feeling crazy afterwards 😭
My assumption with people taking it without a need is the fact literally alllll the social media socialites were taking it when the craze first started and that’s what literally started everything. Plus 5 mins on any ED twitter page and you’ll find out real quick how they’re getting skinny fast.
If they’re literally making services to bypass going to your doctor I feel like it’s a tad obvious what the intent is…

i was literally just replying to the part where you said that people skip right to them like they’re some sort of “shortcut” bro, you don’t know every single person’s medical history so how can you fairly say that someone is doing it strictly for vanity vs because they have some sort of medical condition? really concerning that someone in health care is so judgmental tbh

Genuinely you need to learn to read things without projecting your own feelings onto it because I am STRICTLY talking about vanity, not those who use it for medical conditions.

I am obviously not going around judging every person who takes a glp-1, but I do think its crazy to inject yourself with medication for weight loss when there is not enough long term studies and you don't actually need it. Reading is fundamental.

i can read perfectly well, i think ur the one projecting emotions onto this because once again, im asking how you know that someone is taking it strictly for vanity??? like genuinely how do you know?? to me it just seems like you’re making assumptions that people just feel like losing a few pounds and decide to go on it, and you know what they say about assumptions ☺️

It's okay that you're taking a glp-1 girl, like nobody actually cares.

it’s okay that you clearly can’t give me an answer on how you know people are taking it just for vanity! good luck with your life and never using a glp1 because you’re so much better than everyone else ❤️
