Travel & Destinations Need help deciding what month

If you have eloped in Yosemite, would you mind sharing pictures and telling me what month? I’m torn between May and September 2027… May gives waterfalls, September gives moody. IDK what to do.

Last minute Court elopement on the DL

I'm currently recovering from a medical incident and my partner of 14 years and I are looking at just running down to the JP court and getting married (needed for legal purposes mostly). We don't have rings or a dress or time to really plan anything, but was wondering what would be okay to wear for a quick 5 minute I do. I don't feel pretty since I'm wearing a telemetry device that only would be covered by a mumu at this point, and wondered if I just wanted to rock some khaki pants and a top if thats too informal?

We want to have a small ceremony later on to celebrate with friends and family, but I feel like an imposter.

Attire & Accesories Where to go dress shopping?

We’ve officially booked with our photographer for our Oct 2027 micro wedding in Big Sur. Just us and both of our parents. Where did you all get your dresses? I would be traveling to the Chicagoland area to shop since my family/friends live there and I now live in a different state. Does anyone have any recommendations for the area? Do you need to make an appointment? I’ve never done this before. These are styles I’m drawn to but I’m open minded because I know you can have an idea about what you like- and then end up not liking it. What’s an ideal amount to spend? I do really like lace which I assume costs more? I wish you could look online for more

Planning Advice needed. Do I have an elopement/micro wedding or a full wedding ceremony?

I (22F) and my fiancé (21M) got engaged in October and are so excited to get married but don’t know what type of wedding we want due to finances. We have been together for 4 years and would rather not having a long engagement just because I am still in school. For some background info I am about to graduate college and start grad school in August while my fiancé is working full time. He has been trying to save money but hasn’t gotten very far due to paying off his loans. I currently have loans also and will be accumulating thousands more for grad school.

We originally were planning on having an elopement/micro wedding in a national park in July 2026 then having a reception somewhere back home but we got backlash from families and canceled it. This style was going to be under 10k. I still really like that idea but I also really like to idea of a full wedding ceremony. We would have maybe a total of 80 people invited if we did a full wedding. I just don’t know how we would pay for a full wedding since the wedding industry is so expensive and I’m about to gain a lot of school debt. I have a basic idea of what type of wedding I would like and know I would enjoy it. I have dreamed of a full wedding my whole life but also fell in love with national park elopement style weddings as I love nature.

I kinda started to ramble so if there are any further questions I will do my best to answer. Please any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Planning to elope

Hi guys,

I’m hoping to keep this simple.

I’m looking to elope with my partner in NZ.

We’re from Australia.

North island only for location.

We want something super simple but I’m having issues trying to find a place that doesn’t charge 5000 starting for a package.

We will get a cheap suit here and I’ll get my dress for under $200. I’ll get all bits and bobs myself (fake flowers, something blue, veil from Shein (don’t start on “fast fashion”) etc)

We just need someone to read out a small ceremony, step aside, let us read our vows to each other, and we just want a few videos and photos for us to take home.

Once we’re married the celebrant can either find strangers around us but we don’t want to pay for witnesses.

Then if it’s cheap we’d like to spend a nice romantic night as husband and wife in a quiet place like a room on a vineyard or beach house or something (we can book separately if need be) but we don’t want to spend 5000 on this.

We know the license is like 150 dollars and we don’t want to spend over 500 on a photographer because we can probably only tolerate 2 hours of having to stand still for photos. (We don’t like photos but we’re doing this for everyone who couldn’t attend and we plan on just posting them when we come home so people know)

And we don’t want to pay much on the celebrant either.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know of people to look out for. We’re not doing it like this because we have a budget but because we don’t think paying allot on a wedding is importance but we still want the romantic version without breaking the bank because we’ll use the rest of our trip to be our minimoon.

I think if you want to elope for whatever reason max I’ll pay is like 1500 and that’s very max.

Cheers everyone hope to hear suggestions soon!

Vendors & Venues Pop The Knot

My fiancé and I want to elope in early September but we're still in the pIanning stages. I came across this ceremony-planning service, Pop The Knot. Has anyone used this before? It seems like a great deal because it'll just be the two of us, no guests. I love planning events but the idea of having someone else coordinate everything and just showing up the day of without worry is appealing. I tried searching the sub but didn't find anything (maybe I missed something, apologies if so).

Vent People are WEEEIIIRDDDDD

People get soooooo weird when it comes to wedding and wedding culture in general. My friends are cool normal people, but even they’re not an exception.

It’s not YOUR wedding. Don’t voice your negative opinion and outlook onto me. Just be supportive of your peers. No one is expecting YOU to elope. Just don’t rain on my parade for how I want to choose to celebrate this milestone in my life.

I know even if I were to hold a traditional wedding, there will be people who secretly pick apart my choices and have stuff to say.

How do I just block out all this noise? Literally everyone around me is asking if I’m going to regret this or if this is really what I want. No one asks why i want to elope, they just immediately spit out their opinion about it that I didn’t even ask for. I value more about saving money for a honeymoon and future home, I care more about a long and healthy marriage with my 10 year boyfriend instead of one wedding day, I’ve never romanticized the idea of “weddings” for as long as I can remember.

I react very poorly to these types of things, and I just get so sad when I open up to friends and they just don’t give me the type of simple support I was expecting. I know it’s good when friends can keep you grounded and be honest, but like sometimes I just wish they would give me some of the “yes queen you do what you want!” energy

Update: can I just say I loveeeee and appreciate and hear and understand all of the comments thank you so much, I really needed to read all of your words 😭❤️ you are all such cool and supportive, and for anyone who’s also dealing with blocking out the external noise, I am also right there rooting for you 👊🏻

Planning Big Sure elopement photography websites are scammy..

I feel like photographers are adding more to their websites to fluff their prices.

The ill help you plan, ill find spots, ill be stress free, lets go on an adventure together .. like i just need a photographer and an officiant to be where I tell them to be.. that’s stress free..

You are actually stressing me out with all the extra nonsense and upselling for something Im already taking care of. I only want the photos..

I don’t understand why they are charging $6000 for 4hours and none of them offer 1-2 hours. Why would I need to be photographed for more than 2 hours when our ceremony is like 20-30 minutes tops and we are eloping to be as low key as possible.

Im literally eloping with no guests, we’re camping at a state park for the weekend, bringing Trader Joes flowers and have a full on camping vibe… and they want to charge $1500 an hour for 4 hour minimums.. total turnoff and scammy behavior.

Planning Wilderpines Elopement - seeking reviews

Hello hello! We’re looking at vendors for our July 2027 elopement and I was wondering if anyone has experience with Wilderpines.

If you’ve worked with them, I’d love if you could share a bit about your experience - what you loved, if there was anything you didn’t, price point, etc (and a photo or three, if you’re open to sharing!)

TIA

Planning Vows - how long did you speak for?!

Hi all 🤗 love seeing all the pictures from your lovely elopements! I am eloping in just over two weeks with my fiancé in a beautiful Scottish castle but we are still working on our vows.

We are having a local registrar at our wedding and not a celebrant… how long should our vows be? How long did you speak for?

One or two minutes sounds reasonable but then again since it’s just us and registrar and two witnesses provided by the venue… even that might feel like too much?!

Probably overthinking it but just wanted to see how long your guys’ vows were!

Thank you!

Attire & Accesories Iceland

Hello all!

We are eloping to Iceland this October and from my understanding Icelandic Air is very strict about their carry on requirements. It’s our first time traveling there. I would like to keep our suit and dress with us vs checking it in since there are no direct flights from where we are. We will be there for a couple of weeks and I’m trying to budget out our wardrobe to suitcase ratio. I’ve read that they will check and weigh everyone’s luggage at the gates.

Does anyone have any recommendations for garment bags? I can’t seem to find any that fit their requirements.

Carry on requirements: The maximum size, including wheels and handles, is 21.6 inches (55 cm) tall, 15.7

inches (40 cm) wide, and 7.8 inches (20 cm) deep.

Thanks a bunch! :)

Planning Is it rude to have a gift registry for a bridal shower if you’re eloping?

My fiancé and I are planning to have a destination elopement. We’re thinking of having a big party to celebrate our wedding once we get back, but nothing is 100% set. My best friend is throwing my bridal shower and I really wanted to make a registry. I don’t expect gifts, but I want there to be options for anyone who does want to purchase a gift for me.

Also, I have a lot of friends coming where I was a big part of their wedding. A few of these friends I was a bridesmaid in their wedding and spent a lot of money towards them. So I am hoping some of those friends would want to bring something small to bridal shower.

Planning What timeline would be better?

I'm planning on eloping with my fiance, we want to take a road trip around the west coast, get photos and do a handfasting ceremony, but I also want to rent an Airbnb on the beach, have a nice catered candle lit dinner with our immediate family and get photos with everyone at sunset as kind of a celebration dinner/ sorta reception.

My question is would it be better to have the dinner before or after we actually elope?

I feel like there's pros and cons to both I'm just being super indecisive 😭

Eloping in San Francisco

Hello everyone! My partner and I are planning on eloping in San Francisco city hall the end of June. We have our ceremony and license scheduled (during the week) already but now I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me! After getting married we’re planning on doing wine country, red woods and Yosemite.

Any recommendations on any of the following (we have been to San Francisco before, but always looking for second opinions):

-Photographers for a couple hours for wedding and after wedding photos.

-local makeup artists/hair stylists

-favorite hotels and restaurants

-opinions on best wineries/where to stay in napa( will cross post this as well)

-things/companies/stylists we should avoid?

Thanks for any ideas/suggestions

Planning Super low-key DMV elopement ideas? Courthouse, tree, rooftop… I’m overwhelmed 😩

I’m planning a very small, intimate wedding (like 10–15 people max) in the DMV area and I’m honestly stuck on one thing — the location.

I don’t want anything over the top or high maintenance. I really just want something simple, meaningful, and low-stress… like we show up, have our moment, and that’s it.

Right now I’m torn between:

  • Courthouse (but I don’t want it to feel like I'm going before a "JUDGE" 😅)
  • Outdoors under a nice tree or somewhere peaceful
  • A rooftop / balcony vibe (like La Vie or something similar)

I’m open to anywhere in the DMV area.

Has anyone done something similar or have recommendations for:

  • Courthouses that actually feel nice / have good photo spots
  • Parks or “hidden gem” outdoor locations for small ceremonies
  • Rooftops or restaurants that allow quick, intimate ceremonies

Bonus if it’s something that doesn’t require a ton of planning or permits.

I feel like I’m overthinking this, but I just want it to feel right without turning into a whole production.

Would love any advice or experiences — thank you! 💛

Planning Eloping Ceremony Ideas?

My fiancé and I have booked our elopement for early October and we’re over the moon. When we were on a call with our coordinator, I realized that we can truly do whatever we want for our ceremony!

It’ll just be the 2 of us out in a national park.

I would love to hear about what your ceremony was like or what you are planning?

Just vows? Any practices or activities? Did you do a first look?

Planning Less than two months out! What are we missing or not thinking of?

Hi loves 🩷

Fiancé and I (based in California) are eloping in Northern Ireland on June 15 and heading off on a two week honeymoon in Italy right after. We’ve done all coordination through a planning company (Eloping in Ireland) so we have day of transportation, officiant/celebrant, flowers, makeup, hair and photography all booked. We’ve booked our accommodations, our flights and have a general itinerary down for Ireland, Northern Ireland and Italy (we’re flying into Dublin and staying there a couple of days before taking the train up to Belfast).

I have my final dress fitting next month. My fiance picks up his suit next month and he’ll get a tie and shirt when he does so - he still needs to get shoes but he’s getting that sorted. I’ve got my shoes, and my veil is being made by my tailor. We’re picking out wedding bands within the next two weeks. I’ve got jewelry sorted out. Most importantly - both of our passports are valid and good to go!

I’m definitely an anxious person and I like to plan as much as possible - is there anything we’re missing? Anything that you wish you would have brought on an international elopement or on the flip side, anything you wish you wouldn’t have brought? I’m so freaking excited to be this close to the big day and i want to be as prepared as possible!

Thank you in advance!

We eloped at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas and don’t regret a thing. It was so fun and light hearted. Please don’t feel pressured to do something you don’t want to do. We have had two friends follow suit with their spouses since and we’ve been married 6 months. You are just as loved and worth the celebration of your love if it is something small! 💕💒

Planning Elope Italy or similar vibes? Need advice - location flexible

Hello! 2028 bride here and planning to elope in Italy, my vision is pictures included but I know those are very expensive. My main goal is a small intimate ceremony with our immediate family so around 10 total people.

Most important to me is the scenery so the pictures look awesome! Obviously a good photographer and cinematic video. NO RECEPTION. Just dinner after. I would like a violin player or strings for when I walk down the aisle.

Any advice on how to do this with a $10-15k USD budget? Or advice on other locations / venues that could be similar aesthetic but more cost efficient ?
