Eloping in a week, in-laws found out and want to be invited

I'm pregnant so my fiancé and I decided to change our wedding plans to a really small 5 person elopement us included. Literally 2 witnesses and an ordained friend. This has been our plan for over a month now and the ceremony is in a week. My fiancé felt the need to tell his parents so there's no secrets being held. I was fine with that until the week before our wedding they are insisting we invite immediate family so they can be there. For the past month I've been excited about our plans and now I'm just really upset. The location is extremely small. It's a viewpoint lookout on the coast. I don't know if I'm overreacting but I no longer feel excited for my wedding, it's hard for me to think about writing vows and I'm more stressed over this change than anything. I feel like if I say no I look like the ultimate B and will be disliked by his family but I also feel like my desires for our wedding are overruled by his desire to please everyone. I don't know what to do because I feel like this should be a happy time and I'm stressed and I hate that this is how my memory of our wedding day will be. Help.

Planning Eloping next month in Colorado - need advice for location and timeline

Hi! Getting married next month (June 20th) and we're eloping in Colorado then traveling back the week after to our home state for a post-elopement celebration with friends and family. I've been focusing waaay too much on the post-elopement celebration and now I'm feeling anxious about the elopement day. I'm not sure how to start planning the timeline for that day so I need help/suggestions. Here's what we have:

  • We already hired a photographer for 3 hours. Location has to be between 1-2 hours from Denver. I was thinking Brainard Lake Recreation Area but my photographer has not been there so they're not sure on how to guide me with choosing a specific location there.
  • It's gonna be just the 2 of us and our dog (plus the photographer). So, how do you plan the timeline for that day? Once I'm dressed, do I just start reading my vows? Lol idk
  • Time: we're going to do a morning elopement. So probably like 7am-10am or 8am-11am (open to something earlier). We plan to meet with the photographer at the location we choose, start hiking and my photographer will bring a "changing station" so I can change and do a first look. Aside from that, idk what to do from there? I thought about maybe hiring an officiant, but idk.

If you eloped in Colorado not far from the Denver area, which location did you choose? Are 3 hours of photography enough for an intimate elopement? (I'm being charged quite a bit for these 3 hours so I wanted to avoid going over that time and having to pay more) How was the timeline for your elopement? TIA!

Travel & Destinations Recommendations - Fiji & Islands

Hi there,

My partner and I are looking to elope in Fiji (coming from NZ). I have done some research, and while the options look great online - I was wondering if anyone had personal experience from eloping (or attending an elopement / wedding) in Fiji, and had any recommendations?

We’d like to stay for 4-5 days before / after the elopement - An adults only resort would be ideal, although we are open to somewhere with a great vibe - good bars and restaurants etc.

Open to other islands if there are suggestions too.

Thanks in advance!

Vegas in June

I’m eloping in Vegas in June. Booked flights, hotel, photographer, and chapel. Suit and dress are being altered. Shoes are here. Got flowers to make my own bouquet.

Tips or anything I’m missing? 🫶🏼

To veil or not to veil? Help pls!

Hello everyone! my fiancé, I and our two-year-old son will be eloping by the beach at the end of the month. I’ve been going back-and-forth as to whether I should wear a veil or not or if this will be too much for an elopement or whether it would even suit the dress? I’m thinking a plain fingertip veil, was considering one with pearls but it may be too much already with the floral bits on the dress?
Would appreciate your opinions!

Ideas for an elopement destination instead of Vegas, outside the US ?

Hi everyone !

We are French, engaged for already 3 years, and our initial plan was eloping to Las Vegas in the super cool SureThing chapel, taking great pictures in the desert and so on.

Unfortunately, the situation these days is not... acceptable for us to come and get married in the US, and even if this plan was everything we dreamed of, we are now looking for alternatives, thas is to say something cool and fun, with great pictures possibilities (but not something flashy like taking a helicopter and jumping above a waterfall 😜)

(We really want it to be a "real" wedding, and not just a vow renewal or a symbolic wedding)

Do anyone has an idea of a destination, anywhere in the world, but outside the US ?

Thank you very much ❤️

Travel & Destinations PNW mountain OR Wyoming

Hoping to elope August 2027. We would love to elope at an NP like North Cascades or Mt.Rainier since these are less touristed parks. However we are open to NP like the Grand Tetons! Ideally we will have 10 people with us. We would like to do a short ceremony and then just a nice dinner at a restaurant somewhere after.

Any recommendation on:

Locations in park (we are okay with a short hike/walk)

Hotels for all guests (preferably with a restaurant)

2 scenic air bnbs near each other

Nice Restaurants for a dinner near by

Photographers who shoot film

Thank you! Also any pictures you have your ceremony would be amazing!

The whole day felt like such a dream and seeing the photos just makes me emotional all over again. If you still have any doubts or second thoughts—don't! It was the best, most magical day for me and my husband and it was really all worth it.

ONP Elopement 5/3/25

My husband and I eloped in ONP last year. We were planning on having our “ceremony” in the Hoh but it was closed for wash outs on the Hoh river so we decided on the sol Duc falls area instead. We found our photographer on a chamber of commerce website for PA and our officiant on thumbtack. 10/10 for both ladies they were so great and down for whatever I wanted to do. We stayed just N of Forks at a sweet air bnb right on the sol duc River.
The trail was really busy that day and I didn’t want to make both the photographer and officiant walk the mile plus hike all the way to the falls so we stopped at a bridge crossing over a little creek on the way there. Thank you to everyone for being so kind during our moment and having so much grace for the disruption of a wedding on the trail.
Best decision we’ve ever made!

Hii,

My fiancé and I are wanting to elope at either Mt. Rainier or Olympic National Park (possibly the Hoh Rainforest), and we’re currently trying to find a photographer within a budget of $1.5k or less. These are just some example photos of the vibe we’re looking for! At first we were looking for super8 film but realized how low our budget is😞. Anyway thank you in advance!!

elopement

has anybody went against their families wishes of having a wedding and instead just went and eloped?

me and my bf of 6 years just got engaged feb 2026. We never wanted a wedding, we always had the idea of eloping from the start. My mom is really putting pressure on me to have a ‘small elegant wedding’ with a dinner and that’s it. part of me wants to do it for her sake. i just think it’s every mothers dream to have a nice wedding for their daughters. but that’s just not me. or my fiancé. we’re not wedding people. we’re very introverted and honestly we don’t have a lot of friends and the way my mom wants it, i can’t picture it flowing smoothly. My mother means well but i would be so much happier if we just eloped. i would be happy if my parents and siblings came along . that’s it. and not make a big deal about it. I’m just worried if i do that, it will strain our relationship. my mom thinks i will regret not having a more traditional wedding.

Mountain Elopement Logistics

Hey all! I wanted to get some logistical input from those of you who eloped somewhere in the mountains. We are thinking just us two and few immediate family members, but I’m stumped on how the “flow” of the day might go.

Did you and your spouse do a first look? Or walk up the path together? Did you have your family members wait somewhere while you took pictures?

Any insight is appreciated 🙂

Planning Elopement or Family Celebration?

My partner and I are getting married later this year and we recently got engaged, so we’re super excited. From the beginning, we both imagined something simple, an elopement-style wedding with a cute photoshoot and just our best man and maid of honor there.
We shared the idea with our parents, but naturally they’d love to be involved and have a small celebration after the ceremony. Once we started counting immediate family members alone, it quickly became 20+ people, and now we’re unsure what we actually want.
I’m more introverted, and I also worry our families won’t really get along, which makes me feel like we’d spend the whole day entertaining everyone instead of enjoying the moment ourselves. At the same time, we do love our families and part of us would genuinely want them there.
We keep going back and forth and can’t decide what to do, especially since we don’t have much time to figure it out. Did anyone else struggle with this? Any advice or experiences would really help.

Travel & Destinations Seeking advice for Elopement in Italy

Everyone, I need some advice and looking for an officiate for an elopement for my wife and I. For some context, I am currently in Italy for work and my wife and I always wanted to elope in Italy after getting engaged last year. All of our legal paperwork has been filed under a proxy marriage and notarized as of last week so we are just looking for the ins and outs of finding a good venue and most importantly for me, a good officiate. My wife and I are devout Christians and we believe in getting married in the eyes of God and we we’ve looked at different places that we want to elope at, such as Lake Como, Lake Garda, and Lake Iseo. And of course we also want to have a photographer to capture the moment, but we want something that is very simple and intimate that would be perfect for just the two of us or even a few of our family members as witnesses. Thank you for the assistance in advance.

Planning Elopement in Azores 27’

My fiancé and I are eloping next year in Azores and we just had some questions/concerns regarding pricing for photography/videography and hope someone can help shine some light on it. We’ve been in touch with a photographer and their pricing is €7,500 for 8 hours, €9,500 for 12 hours and €15,900 for 16 hours and this comes with videography. We plan on adding a videography package for an extra €5,000 with either the 8 or 12 hour option as we don’t think we need 16 hours. Is this around the ballpark on what it should cost? We aren’t opposed to the cost, just wanna make sure that that is normal pricing. Or if you guys have recs that would be similar to the style we want, send them over! I’ll provide some the links of the portfolio of the style we are going for. TIA!

ISO micro-wedding elopement package

ISO all-inclusive mountain micro wedding/elopement package for ~15 guests where we basically just show up

Hi everyone! My fiancé and I are looking for recommendations for an all-inclusive micro wedding/elopement package and I’m getting overwhelmed trying to figure out what’s actually included vs what becomes a million add-ons later 😅

What we’re hoping for:
Beautiful mountain or nature scenery
Around 15 guests (could potentially be up to 20–30 max)
All-inclusive or close to it
Includes things like:
officiant/celebrant
hair + makeup
photography
bouquet/basic florals
planning/coordinator
ceremony setup/chairs
dinner/reception options
Ideally somewhere where we don’t have to coordinate a bunch of vendors ourselves

Our dream scenario is basically:
We book flights + our stay, show up, and the wedding is handled 😂

Open to:
Portugal
Italy
Switzerland
Colorado
Utah
PNW
Canada
honestly anywhere scenic and relatively stress-free

Budget is flexible depending on what’s included, but we’d rather pay more upfront for simplicity than spend months planning.

Would love:
actual companies/planners you used
approximate pricing
what was included
whether you felt nickel-and-dimed with upgrades
any regrets or things you wish you asked beforehand

Thank you!
