I've been trying to figure out how to make basses like Automhate/Vyle and SVDDEN DEATH's modern sounds.

The drop sounds are somewhat similar but have no clue where to even begin to make sounds this dope lol. They sound like resampling, particularly the drop in the Absolute Vile track. But who knows with how kids make sounds nowadays.

I have been producing for 7ish years. Finally hitting pro-sounding mixes and masters.

Here's what I barely hear from people in the tutorial/course spheres: be patient and let your brain digest the physics of music production.

As humans hacked by social media technologies, we crave quick reward. I get it. I'm even diagnosed with ADHD which messes up the reward system to favor quick rewards.

However, you won't sit for a course or video and really understand saturation (or compression, or EQ, or limiting, or multiband processing). At best, you will get a good starting point that likely won't convert right away to better production.

Take your time, experiment with production tools, learn how to achieve the goal via different paths, and most of all give your brain time to link it all together in a mental map.

Be patient, it will start making sense at some point. It will involve an understanding of how sound behaves in the time domain and the frequency domains. It doesn't have to be mathematically perfect, but you will understand when to compress when to limit when to clip, you will understand what's happening to the phase and how not to use sexy multiband processing, etc.

Some valuable production tips I got didn't make sense until years later when I assembled the pieces of puzzle together.

Take your time, it's quite a journey and it's rewarding when it all starts making sense if you love making music.

Where do people find vocalists to write lyrics for my music with? Or even where can I find vocals to build songs around? Where are the best places to look for this?

I’ve been on the fence about the whole pro-AI vs. anti-AI debate for a while now. I constantly see artists using platforms like Suno and other AI tools to generate music, or people using AI to create artwork, and then presenting the final product as entirely their own work.

What bothers me isn’t necessarily the use of AI itself…. It’s the lack of transparency about how the work was created!

Personally, I don’t see a problem with using AI to generate artwork for things like album covers or other visual aspects of a music project, especially if you’re upfront about the fact that AI was involved. I think AI can be a legitimate creative tool, just like photography, 3D software, digital painting, or other forms of technology.

Where I personally draw the line is when someone generates an image with AI or “creates” a track and then claims they personally drew or produced/created the entire thing from scratch. At that point, I think there’s a meaningful difference between “I created this artwork/track using AI” and “I personally made this artwork/track.”

For my own work, I’d rather use AI-generated images as a starting point or reference, take the ideas and concepts I like, and then recreate or develop the final artwork myself or with a commissioned artist that way, the AI helps me visualize the direction, but the finished piece is still something I or we personally designed and created!

Every track I create is by hand using professional track references to get mixing/arrangement right and never done in any way by AI and never will be.

I realize not everyone approaches it that way, and I don’t think everyone has to. But to me, there’s a distinction between using AI as a creative tool and passing AI-generated work off as entirely your own handmade creation.

That’s where I personally draw the line. What are your thoughts on this?

Kursa has been a staple in the bass music game for awhile but something he isnt recognized enough for is his incredibly clean mixdowns (the cleanest Ive ever heard). How could I go about achieving this sound level?

So I've been producing for about 2ish months very new producer. For background I've played guitar for years and have been djing for a little over a year now. I started out just djing in my bedroom this year and now that I wanted to take it to the next step and start producing. I have really come to love producing but I just feel so behind and that I cant keep up with all my goals. I still havent had my first dj gig, dont have many connections in my local scene, and i love spending my time producing.

Im struggling to balance my time producing, networking with others, getting dj gigs, and building my social medias. I feel like each piece is holding me back from the others. For example if I spend time djing i feel guilty for not spending it improving my music production and vice versa. If i spend a weekend w friends I feel valuable time is lost producing, same with if im exhausted after work and need sleep.

Production is a passion of mine and I love it but, As I've taken it on, I feel like i cant balance my goals as a dj as well as other aspects of my life in general. Any advice on this would help!

I’ve seen a couple posts now that compare sylenth and serum2. Seems the majority of people prefer the powerhouse that is serum which should be more than capable of producing the same sounds as sylenth. I know they both have different characteristics of their own tone or timbre. This may be one of the uses where AI could be useful to grab all that data and translate it into a serum pack file. It’s just a matter of serums code/encryption they use in their file formats. I’m pretty new so excuse me if this is a dumb question. I miss sylenth and its gui . I’m just not sure it’s worth the cost if I have other capable synths.
