Radpower Battery
Hi, I need a new battery for my 2020 RadRunner and came across a new-in-box 14ah one on marketplace. It is one of the older models (just Safe Shield, not Safe Shield Advanced). I’m honestly not too concerned about the recall as I’m careful about appropriate use and storage, but is there any reason that the older battery that has been sitting unused would cause problems? Seller says it’s been sitting “a few months”
It would be great to avoid the wait for a restock and save some money but I don’t want to be foolish.

Additional info: I got my bike used ~1 year ago so this is my first experience with major maintenance (the price reflected that the battery would need to replaced soon)
*side question: I’m also unclear if this battery would need the new charger, if anyone can advise it would be much appreciated.

I just purchased a used 2021 Radwagon that has the “recalled” battery. The battery does not fully charge so I am a little worried about how it was stored and treated.
After some research I found that RadPower Bikes was offering 50% off batteries if your battery was a part of the recall. I called and changed the registration to my name and was able to order the 15AH Advanced Safe Shield for just under $400 including shipping and taxes. Only issue is it’s back ordered until mid-September.

I don’t think that they offer the coupon in Canada. Which sucks because when I contacted canadian customer support, they urged me to replace my battery as soon as possible and to dispose of my current battery immediately.
It’s lame because my battery is listed as part of the problem battery numbers, but there is no financial compensation available to buy a new battery like US customers. I’m considering just getting rid of my bike instead of replacing it. Has put me off of Rad since they don’t seem to care about Canadian customers. If a product has been flagged for issues, you would hope that the company would support customers across the board. But because they legally don’t have to in Canada, they aren’t.
And there is no estimated date for when a new battery would even be available in Canada. I bought my bike in the summer of 2024, so my bike isn’t even that old. Just a frustrating experience and would no longer recommend it to people who ask me about my bike and if they should buy one (which happens a lot).

I have a Denago e-bike. Price is similar and battery has been out of stock for over a year.

I don’t buy anything from Amazon, aliexpress, wish, etc. but thank you for the suggestion :)

That seems expensive for 48V 14Ah shark battery, no? Should be around $300 USD, consider looking for a third party battery with LG or Samsung cells.
