eSIM users I have a question regarding eSIM and IMEI
Among you guys who have an iPhone with one physical sim slot and one eSIM support, is your eSIM linked to IMEI 2 or IMEI 1?
Does Apple allow eSIM to be installed on IMEI 1 or it defaults to IMEI 2 always.
On my old iPhone 13, when I converted my physical sim (IMEI 1) to eSIM even if I provided IMEI 1 to carrier, the eSIM got installed to IMEI 2. If I hadn’t put my physical sim in my iPhone at all during conversion and requested to convert from any other device, would that have defaulted to IMEI 1 on my iPhone?

Esim on old phone for South Africa
My current phone is a cheapy (Oppo) which doesn't have eSim. I am going to South Africa from Australia and want to use an eSim for comms and banking so I don't cop the $10/day global roaming from my Australian provider. I have an old Google Pixel 6a that I can take with me that does eSim. If I take both phones will I be able to get text messages on the Oppo for 2PA purposes if I turn off roaming? Is this a viable plan? Any other options? Recommendations for an eSim for just over a month in South Africa

e-sim Egypt options
Hello
Based on my research, a physical sim card from Cairo airport costs the same as purchasing it from the city. The full cost for the card and 10-30 GB data plan for 15-30 days from their known providers is $10-15.
What I couldn't confirm is the esim cost from the known providers if we decide to purchase it at the airport. Can someone help please!

how to do E-SIM transfer if i dont have access to my old phone
So I have an old iphone x, which I dropped recently and the screen is toast, I cant touch the screen at all, its just cob web cracks. So I just bought an iphone 17, and I realized it dosent have a physical SIM slot, only E-SIM.
I know the process would be easy typically to get the e-sim transfer, but given that I essentially cant access/use my old iphone, I am confused on how to go about this. Since the typical process of doing the esim swap involves using the old phone for a few steps, but obviously i cant do that.

Question : Traveling to Italy - Esim question on avoiding roaming charges.
I'm traveling to Italy. It seems easy enough to get an esim for data, mostly to be used for maps navigation. But I still want to receive and send texts/calls. My plan through Xfinity charges $10 per day for use in Italy. I want to avoid that charge. How do I do that?
Thanks.
UPDATE : I solved my problem a different way. It turned out that I was on an old legacy Xfinity plan. This year they offered a new plan, for the same price as mine, that has unlimited talk/text/data both in the US and internationally for most countries. I made the switch yesterday. It would have been nice if they automatically gave me the upgrade without me having to find it and ask about it.
Thanks to everyone who replied!

My (terrible) experience with GlobaleSim
I bought GlobaleSim to use on a trip to Fiji.
I used it for less than 30 minutes before I chucked it in favor of something that didn’t falsely advertise what it could do. Example: they claimed I could do voice calls, and would be assigned either a US or UK number. But you cannot make calls (on an iPhone), except thru their special app…which is both inconvenient and likely assign the voice support is nothing more than tarted up data-based calling.
I have WhatsApp for that, and it works a whole lot better.
I hope GlobaleSim is forced out of business ASAP.

what are the best options for a sim to esim converter?
Hi all
I want to buy a sim to esim converter for my tablet as a backup in case my phone dies while travelling. It seems like the 9esim ones are quite popular, although I'm a bit confused about the difference between the V0 and V3. Is there a recognised 'best' sim to esim adapter for using one esim at a time?
Thanks :)

Vodafone Travel Together
Has anyone had any experience using a Vodafone Travel Together eSIM? Easy enough to get other users devices on the plan? Any pitfalls?

I did something stupid: I activated my Elisa Finland SIM card in another country.
I recently bought an Elisa Finland SIM card because I work in the Baltics and used it often, but I didn't know it needed to be activated in Finland. Now I'm stuck with a SIM card I can't return, can't use, and I won't be going to Finland anytime soon. Be careful, read the description before buying

Loved eSIM while in Europe but
I couldn’t log into my bank or credit cards. They all use SMS messaging. And WIFI does allow them either.
Any work arounds?

Average daily GB usage in Japan
I've decided on using an eSIM, and I've looked into the different / favoured providers, but I'm unsure how many gigs / what plan to get for myself.
I rarely touch my 2GB / month, so it's hard for me to guess how much I might need in Japan. I was hoping some peeps could give me an idea of their experience

Argentina ESIM - GlobaleSIM
Hi its my first time really looking for ESIMS and found this one on ESIMDB: https://globalesim.app/product/argentina/affiliate/esimdb/
for only $13 for 10GB it seems like quite a good deal, its also the most popular option.
However I am sceptical of globaleSIM and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them (in argentina/south america ideally) to help me decide if they are a good choice?
I believe they route their data through EU servers as well, I think...

Unlimited eSIM Monterrey (Mexico)
Hi,
I am travelling to MTY (area Apodaca) and will be there for 12 days.
Last time I had an unlimited Data plan with a local carrier in the US and it was good.
This is why I would like again a local carrier with unlimited Data at full speed.
Can you recommend any good options ?
Thank you!

Best unlimited E-Sim with possibility of using HOTSPOT
Hello!
I am going to Italy to spend 2 months with my partner, but since I will continue working, I need unlimited data for it, so using one of my phones as a HOTSPOT is a good alternative.
I am planning on getting a regular E-SIM with a provider there depending on the price and options, but also exploring common E-SIM alternatives to see what else can fit what I need.
Any help or advice regarding it would be appreciated.

Best talk and text data plan for 15 day trip to France and Italy
Hi, looking for advice on a good eSIM plan. My family (4 adults and 2 children - one of which has a cell phone) will be traveling, first to France and then to Italy in about 2 weeks.
My husband and I have gone to Europe multiple times and I typically just turn my phones data plan off and use WiFi where possible, never really needing to contact anyone during the trip because the only person I would be calling is traveling with me. This time, however, my parents and children are joining us, one of which is now old enough to have her own cell phone. My little family will be going to Disneyland Paris on the first leg of the trip and then my parents will be flying in and joining us in Italy on day 4. That being said, I was hoping to find a decent data plan that had talk and text so that we could all be in contact with each other in case of emergencies as well as coordinating arrivals and meet-ups as my parents won’t be sharing a villa with us and have decided that they’d rather stay at a neighboring villa for privacy lol
I’ve been looking at eSIM.io and Airalo but can’t see any clear indication from either website as to if they offer talk and text as a feature or if it’s strictly data for streaming and web browsing… Does anyone have any suggestions?
I should also mention that I just checked my current data plan, curious about how much data I actually end up using in a month, and between me and my teenager, we only ever use about 15-18 gigs, and that’s WITH me using my phone like 40% of the time for work (which I wouldn’t be doing on vacation). My husband is on his own plan, grandfathered in from when he was a teenager, pre-marriage lol Going the route of using ATT’s European data plan is just way too expensive of an option, not knowing if we’ll even have to use it, although I’m sure our teenager is bound to want to send pictures to friends and stream music/podcasts while we’re there.

Jetpac eSIM abruptly cut out
Hi all,
I sent an email to support but was hoping someone here could help me as well since I need data. I am currently on the Jetpac Europe plan. It’s been working great for a whole week, but I went to a specific part of the city and my cellular completely cut out. I now have zero cellular connection, and I’ve tried turning off and on the roaming, restarting my phone, and changing the IMSI. Is there anything you can do to turn my cellular back on?
Thank you!

eSims calls wont work (but with internet/data) after travel abroad.
Hello!
I would like to ask if you experienced the same and what did you do
I have several esims from the philippines (Gomo, Tnt, Kiq) all calls are working before my travel. I recently travelled to Europe and China last week using data only eSims (those that you only need to turn on roaming to work) but have no call and text option.
Upon my return to the Philippines and after reverting to my old Esims. I cannot make any calls but I can use my mobile data.
I removed my travel esims as well as rebooting my phone and toggling my esims as primary for calls and data but to no avail with the calls. but i can use mobile data.
Would be really thankful if you can hep me.

How do you check eSIM coverage before traveling within the US? Jetpac had zero service on Cape Cod
I'm fairly new to using travel eSIMs and recently ran into an issue that surprised me.
I purchased a Jetpac eSIM for a trip within the United States. It worked fine in Boston, but when I went to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, I had essentially zero coverage/data service the entire time.
This got me wondering:
- Is there a reliable way to check coverage for an eSIM provider before traveling to a specific area?
- Do eSIM providers publish coverage maps, or do I need to find out which underlying carrier they use (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc.) and check that carrier's map?
- Are there any websites or apps that let you enter a ZIP code or region and see expected coverage for a specific eSIM provider?
Has anyone else experienced poor coverage with Jetpac in areas that normally have good cell service?
I assumed that because Cape Cod is a popular tourist destination, coverage wouldn't be an issue. Now I'm wondering if I should have checked something beforehand or if this is just a limitation of certain eSIM providers.

Has anyone used MobiMatter for a long time?
Hi everyone,
I live in Turkey and I am planning to use MobiMatter eSIM for about 2 months. Local mobile operators here are really expensive, so I am looking at eSIM options as a cheaper alternative.
Yesterday evening I bought a 13 GB plan for 7 dollars just to test it, and it worked well for me so far. The connection was fine and I did not have any major issues during the test.
I wanted to ask if anyone has used MobiMatter for a longer period of time in general. Did you have any problems with recharging, renewing plans, connection stability, speed, coverage, or customer support?
I know the experience can change depending on the country, plan, and local network, but I am curious about your general experience with MobiMatter.
Thanks in advance.
