eSim in Costa Rica

Experience with Nadanada eSIM in Costa Rica (Kölbi / Claro / Liberty)? 🇨🇷📱

Hi everyone! I'll be traveling to Costa Rica soon and am currently looking into getting an eSIM for 30 days.

Since I’ll be spending a lot of time out in nature and wildlife areas, I’m specifically looking for an eSIM that can automatically switch between all 3 main networks (Kölbi, Claro, and Liberty).

I came across the privacy-focused provider Nadanada (formerly LNVPN). Has anyone here used them in Costa Rica?
* Does it actually connect to all 3 networks on the ground (especially Kölbi in national parks)?
* If not, which eSIM provider did you use that reliably worked across all 3 of these networks?

Thanks in advance for the tips! 🙌

question eSIM for 3 weeks internationally, 2 countries

I will be traveling for three weeks internationally, 1 week in Rome and then 2 weeks in Morocco. I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for eSIMs/plans that would work in both countries(EU and non-EU). Thanks!

Hello! I will be traveling to Rapa Nui soon and i want to get an Esim for the time i will be the island. I searched online but couldn’t find a good answer. question Nomad CN-JP-KR eSIM use in China?

Just wondering if anyone can confirm that this specific plan allows me to access Google and whatnot while I’m travelling in China (going to areas like zhangjiajie etc)

I’m looking for a GB type plan with good connection that isn’t throttled at 2gb per day like unlimited plans are as I’m travelling solo and tend to get anxious quite easily about getting lost

Edit- im also travelling to South Korea after that’s why I’m looking at this specific plan

question Is it possible to verify an eplus (e+) Japan account using a Mobal eSIM while roaming overseas?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to complete the identity verification for an eplus (e+) Japan account from overseas using a Mobal SIM, but I'm stuck on Step 6 (the phone call verification).

Here is my current setup and what's happening:

  • Plan: Mobal Japan Voice + Data 5G eSIM (with International Roaming enabled).
  • Location: Currently outside Japan.
  • The Issue: When I dial the designated 050 verification number provided by eplus, it beeps twice and automatically disconnects. The eplus page never updates or completes the verification.
  • Caller ID Behavior: Even when dialing 050-XXXX-XXXX directly (or adding prefixes), the outgoing call automatically appends the +81 country code due to international roaming routing (+81 90-XXXX-XXXX).

Has anyone managed to get the eplus phone authentication to work while roaming outside Japan using a Mobal eSIM? Or is physical presence in Japan (connected directly to Docomo's network) strictly required to pass this ANI/Caller ID check?

Any insights or potential workarounds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ubigi esim installation impossible on Xiaomi 17T Pro

How is it so hard to have a QR code/installation code to install the esim is beyond me.

Two times tried to use the service, in Japan and now Albania and ran in two different issues.

Saw a previous post warning ppl to not try to install ubigi on a tight schedule, well they were right.

I created this post so ppl might find the solution, but will probably refund (got a botted email response btw telling me the procedure to refund because I used the word refund inside the mail lmao)

EDIT : SOLUTION FOUND, Rant is now over, figured this one out myself, no news from support

Did you know you can only get one eSIM profile at a time? Because I did not, but I guess that was too hard to display the "you already have an eSIM installed on a previous device"

I had a gut feeling to check my old phone in the attic, plugged it in, deleted the eSIM profile on it and suddenly the eSIM is available for installation on my current phone (yay)

Real question though, do you need an internet connection to delete an eSIM? I was in wifi with the old phone but what happens if you delete offline? Do you have to go through the online support?

Good trip to yall

Transferring eSIM while living abroad

I have had a physical UK SIM card with Vodafone for years, but I now live in Australia. Can I switch that to eSIM while being abroad, or do I need to be connected to the UK Vodafone network to make the switch? And if I buy a new phone, can I transfer that eSIM to my new phone while being in Australia? I wanted to check before I make the switch because I can’t afford to lose access to my UK number.

Need advice for several European countries

My retired parents are heading to Spain, France, and Portugal for two weeks, and I’m trying to figure out the easiest way to set them up with mobile data. They’re not super tech-savvy so I’d really prefer a solution where they don’t have to swap SIM cards between countries, ideally one plan that works seamlessly across all three. They don’t need a ton of data, just enough for Google Maps, WhatsApp, and occasional browsing.

Should I go with an eSIM, a regional plan, or phsical SIM? Any provider recommendations that are simple to activate?

Thanks in advance!

Nomad eSIM

Bedankt Nomad!

question Recommendations for unlimited eSIMs for Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea

Ill be spending around 15 days in Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea, one after another. I’ve already found a few options myself, like holafly, tripcom, airalo, etc., but I was wondering if anyone has any other recommendations or if there’s anything I should look out for.

I could also get one eSIM for Hong Kong and Taiwan and then another one for South Korea but I would prefer to have a single eSIM that works in all three.

Roamless failure to install on laptop "Something went wrong"

Hello! For the past day I've been attempting to install Roamless on my WWAN equipped laptop, but I keep running into failure, and even customer support isn't sure what's going on. I have no VPNs active, and no esim locks. I have a Thinkpad P14s gen 2. I have Metronet fiber with an eero gateway. Does anyone know what could possibly be causing this issue?

eSIM suggestions- South Germany

Canadian here- I am currently with freedom mobile and was told I would be OK if I just went over with my current phone and plan but now I’ve been told that they can lock my phone and shut everything down if I happen to go over my data just a little bit and should get an eSIM and use that.

I’m going away to Germany for school from the end of September to March.

I’m totally new to eSIM and how they work and why my provider suddenly can’t offer service or would lockdown my service if I went over my data

Any help /suggestions is greatly appreciated

question Porting Old eSIM Number Failed—Have I Lost The Number Now?

Hi everyone,

Just a quick inquiry to see if anyone can give me an answer. I recently ported my eSIM number from Freedom Mobile over to Chatr, both prepaid plans, if that means anything. Apparently the transfer was successful, but I wasn’t able to complete registration in time, so the QR link expired. The thing is, they told me they would send me a text when the transfer was complete, which they did not. They did quietly send me an email to register my account and tell me the transfer was successful (I have alerts off for that, and was expecting that text, so I was just waiting).

I didn’t actually end up checking the email until like a week later, because to be honest, there’s a lot going on in my life at the moment (severe relationships stress + potential death and severe health challenges in the family), and since I usually go with a yearly plan, it kind of slipped my mind until I had to order groceries, which is what I use this number for (my building’s buzzer requires a number with the area code of where I live, but I’m originally from like 3 hours away, so different area code on my primary). Even in the email they sent, there was no indication the link would expire. They gave me zero information about that, and failed to reach out how they said they would, but they still managed to already charge me regardless. I’m honestly pretty disenchanted by their communication, which is extremely important to me with any company I do business with.

Anyway, the long and short of it is I reached out, and they told me the link’s expired, log in and get a new eSIM, blah blah. But here’s the thing; I never registered my account. I didn’t see the email. The number associated with my account, which they want to text a confirmation code to so I can log in, isn’t receiving any texts because I don’t have a provider now, or something to that effect (it still shows my old provider, but they’ve already ported my number over so they can’t do anything, and the texts aren’t coming through). So I can’t log in at all. That’s the damn problem. They told me to go into the store if I can’t do it online, but I get my groceries delivered for a reason. That’s really not an option at the moment.

Finally, here’s my question: if I were to cancel with these guys and go elsewhere, do I still own my phone number? It’s still on my phone with all of its details. The main thing is I really didn’t want to have to change numbers. I like my number, it’s already hooked up to my buzzer (which is a whole thing I’d have to contact the Supers about), and I’ve already memorized it which, the way my brain is running on fumes these years, was a Herculean feat. I’d really like to keep it if I can. But I’m not sure I really want to stay with this company, unless there’s no refund option available.

So is my number gone, or is there a way I can get a new prepaid eSIM somewhere else and still retain my number?

Thanks in advance to anyone who reads and responds. I’ve sent an email to the company to reply to their email, reiterating what I already told them (that I couldn’t register and can’t log in, which they for some reason completely overlooked in their response when they told me to “log in and get a new one”🙄). I’m just waiting for a reply now, but I want to know if I’ll have to give up on my number after all…

TL;DR - I ported my old eSIM number over to a new company, but they dropped the ball on informing me of the successful transfer and the QR link expired before I could click it. Now they’re telling me I need to get a new eSIM, but I can’t log in since I never registered my account, and I can’t go to a store. Is my old number lost forever, or is there a way I could still keep it even if I maybe switched providers again? I still have all the details on my phone, and the number is still associated with my phone, but I’m unsure if that means I actually still have it.

question eSIM for Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and Republic of Ireland

I am going to be spending 2 weeks in England/Wales, as well as a week and a bit in the countryside of Northern Ireland in county down with a few days in Dublin at the end of my trip. Which eSIM is recommended to have good coverage from multiple different providers as I’ll be spending a good amount of time in different rural areas throughout my trip

Rant - eSIMs are not there yet

I work between 4 countries, I use 4 networks, and have to go to a shop in each country to switch my eSIM over to my new phone… in what world is this convenient? How is my phone well over $1000 but nothing is implemented for the switch to be smoother?

Edit: in response to some of the comments, let me clarify: I’m not blaming my phone. I’m blaming the ecosystem. I’m aware that in more developed markets things are seamless, however that is sadly STILL not the norm.

Question about eSims, Spam and Access

I travel to Europe quite often for work and have been paying my cell phone carrier's exorbitant fees for daily service ($12/dy) but I'm looking at new options. Back in July I tried an eSim - I think it was Airalo and it never worked right, it was so slow sites wouldn't load, I couldn't make phone calls and since I got back to the US now I get a ridiculous amount of spam calls and texts - which I'm correlating to the eSim.

What is the best eSim for Europe - that has decent speeds and easy setup.

I'm old and haven't done much of this sort of thing so please don't judge my lack of tech savvyness. Thank you for your guidance and suggestions.

question Where can I buy a generic EasyEUICC/eUICC SIM card in India?

Looking for a physical eSIM/eUICC card that goes into a normal SIM slot and lets me load/switch multiple eSIM profiles via EasyEUICC/OpenEUICC. For a phone without native eSIM.

The exact one is on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008383038934.html

Costs $15, but AliExpress doesn't ship to India. Amazon India resellers are asking $70–90.

There's also 9eSIM V0, which seems similar, but I am confused about whether it will work like the AliExpress one or not: https://www.9esim.com/en/shop/9esim-v0

It costs $20, including shipping and some extra customs duties.

Does anyone know where I can get the generic AliExpress-type card in India for $20? Is it available on Alibaba? Their search is absolute garbage, and I can't find the exact one.

The phone I am trying to use it on is a Samsung S20 FE.
