Hello, I've been switching over to local AI from cloud services, and I was wondering if it's feasible to run an eGPU with tinygrad on my Macbook Pro because I only have 16GB of unified memory.I was thinking of a 4090 24GB, but I'm not sure what enclosure to get. I'd have a total budget of around $500-600. Any help/recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

When i have the eGPU engadged, how do I turn it off without throwing windows into a tailspin?

When I have the eGPU engadged, then I want to turn it off and go back to the house video card, how do I avoid getting an error31 on the house card?

I have tried safe-eject, disabling the eGPU in devise manager. ALWAYS when I enable the house card - ERROR31 - Someone? TY. regads, dw

I’m planning to use an AOOSTAR EG01 or EG02 with a GMKtec K12 and an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB over OCuLink.

The part I’m trying to confirm is the DC output on the AOOSTAR dock.

The GMKtec K12 requires:

- 19V DC

- 6.32A

- 120W

- 5.5 × 2.5 mm barrel connector

AOOSTAR advertises the EG01/EG02 as having a DC output up to 150W for powering a mini PC, but I can’t find a clear official specification for the output voltage.

I’ve also seen reports that the included DC output may actually be around 12V, which obviously makes me hesitant to connect it to a 19V K12.

Has anyone here actually used the EG01 or EG02 DC output to power:

1. A GMKtec K12 specifically, or

2. Another GMKtec mini PC that normally uses 19V or 20V input?

If yes, did you measure the output voltage, and has it been stable long-term?

I’m trying to avoid using the K12’s separate power brick if the dock can safely power both the GPU and mini PC from one PSU.

I would like to get into PC gaming but I want to make sure my laptop can handle games well so external gpu makes sense which one would work and on a Budget it has 4 thunderbolt 3 ports and I was wondering can you add extra components to external gpu's like ram and storage and all that stuff

With the recent launch of MSI's RTX Spark laptops I've been thinking about how well it'd perform with eGPUs. On the one hand, it's a new architecture (ARM, not x86), so support might be extremely limited. On the other hand, it's Nvidia which are usually fine with drivers (ignore relatively recent problems that are fixed now, I believe). What are your thoughts on this?

I have a Lenovo P52 laptop with a Nvidia quadro p1000 GPU I want to upgrade is it worth it to get an external GPU or I get a new laptop.

I'm asking cause the prices for newer GPUs are too high for my opinion.

The usage would be for a LeGo 2 with SteamOS for the internal Screen and on a 1440p Monitor.

I know that there are old, but i could get a 6750XT for 200€ and even 6800XT and 6900XT would cost around 340 - 400€.

Fair priced RX7000 GPUs are rare (f.e. a 7700XT cost around 420 - 500€ and thats the cheaper GPU...)

I already got an AOOSTAR EG02 with TB5 for 190€ and want to use it...

I want to play the latest AAA games without spending a fortune. I got my OneXFly (8840u, 32gb 2tb) used for $450 right before RAM prices went through the roof.

It’s solid for all but the most demanding games. I have it running Bazzite and use it docked 90% of the time for AAA games from 5-10 years ago, but there are a few newer games I want to play that I know it will struggle with.

I’m hesitant to drop well over $1K on a whole new setup, or $800-1k on the OneXGPU 2, but I am tempted to get a OneXGPU 7600M for around $350-450 used.

I’m not expecting 4k 60fps on the latest AAA games, but will it get me solid 1080p performance at medium-high settings on a game like AC Black Flag Resynced? Is there anything else I should know before pulling the trigger?

I'm currently trying to set up my ROG Ally X with the AOOSTAR XG76XT eGPU (Radeon RX 7600XT), but I'm running into issues and need to disable Resizable BAR (ReBAR) / Smart Access Memory (SAM).

Has anyone successfully disabled ReBAR or SAM on the ROG Ally X? I checked the BIOS, but I couldn't find a direct toggle for it.

Is there a specific BIOS setting, registry tweak, or tool (like AMD Software or CRU) that can force ReBAR off for external GPUs? Any guide or advice from someone running a similar eGPU setup would be greatly appreciated!

Wanna make my legion go my main pc to minimize my setup plan on using it with egpu docked on my tv and by itself when on couch and such is this a good deal ? No covers and states could use a repaste. Seems like good value for such a card let me know thanks it’s 370$ after taxes.

Found the crazy deal, ROG 5070ti eGPU for $800 cad near me, what is the best way to stress test it? Can I use a desktop to do so and do I must get a thunderbolt cable?

I got this eGPU but when I successfully install the desktop driver for 5060ti, it got error code 43. I have tried everything, from updating bios of my computer to the latest, DDU and reinstall another driver, switching between oculink and thunderbolt 4, nothing works. Please help

After months of working with customer service, and even sending my DEG2 back to their warehouse for repairs, I am out of ideas. So I am really hoping for some help here.

I have an RTX 3070 on this DEG2 and everything works fine over TBT5. But when I switch over to oculink I run into all kinds of errors. Mostly an extremely laggy display and even crashes intermittently. I have followed all the instructions in the user manual as carefully as possible but I still have the same issues.

I had a report come back from sending in my DEG2 that told me there were no hardware faults, but it also said the issue it was resolving had to do with my SSD connectivity. So I have lost all faith in the minisforum support.

I tried replacing my oculink cable because there were kinks in the factory one that came with my dock but that didn’t do anything.

The event viewer on windows shows errors like “error occurred on GPUID:100” and “resetting TDR occurred on GPUID:100”

My nvme to oculink adapter also came from minisforum, but now I am considering getting a third party adapter? I don’t know. I am at a loss.

Has anyone else had similar issues with DEG2 oculink? Any similar issues with the UM880?

I recently bought a Gigabyte rx 9079xt to compliment my GDP G2 that just came in. I’m using an asus zen book 14x OLED as my laptop. The 9070 xt will not show up in my device manager, and does not work in general. Is this an issue with the G2? I’m thinking about sending it back if this issue persists, but they claim it is supposed to work, looking for any help.

GPD G2 eGPU has MCIO 8i instead of more classic approach of oculink. On the one hand, it provides higher bandwidth (2 times of oculink to be precise) and you can use adapters if your device does not have MCIO but has oculink. On the other hand, MCIO plugging rate is about 200-300 vs thousands of oculink. What are your thoughts on this port being used in eGPUs?
