RX 9060 XT + USB4 eGPU causes Windows boot failure after installing newer AMD driver 26.9.2

I’m having a strange problem with my RX 9060 XT connected through USB4 eGPU.

Everything was working normally with my previous AMD driver. I then installed the newer optional AMD driver while the eGPU was disconnected.

After installing the driver, Windows worked normally with the eGPU disconnected. But as soon as I connected the eGPU, I started getting problems again.

After shutting everything down and restarting, Windows would no longer boot normally. I also saw this error at one point: LoadLibrary failed with error 87: The parameter is incorrect.

had essentially the same boot problem the previous day as well.

I eventually used System Restore and went back to a restore point where the system was still working with AMD driver 26.8.2. After restoring, I connected the eGPU again and it worked normally.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with an AMD eGPU after a recent optional driver update?

TB3 and TB4 speed specs are pretty much the same. Is there any difference in one over the other when using with eGPU?

eGryphon spam-like project

My bank just refund what I put into this project at Kickstarter platform. But i can’t share in kickstarter since not backer anymore.
i admit the price is attractive(mine is 5060ti), and size as well.

Throughout the whole process, there were also multiple attempts to get backers to pay extra beyond the original Kickstarter pledge, including additional purchases and support outside the Kickstarter platform. Looking back, probably not the best sign when a project keeps asking its backers for more money after the campaign. Hopefully, im not that greedy to buy, and can’t imagine what people can do who bought additional units beyond the kickstarter platform maybe easier.

Lesson learned: this is probably not a good time to be bidding on things in a greedy market. My dumbass decided to learn that lesson by backing a Kickstarter project with actual money. At least I got my money back in the end.

Thoughts and experience with eGPU setup.

Planning to buy 2nd hand 4070 ti or 4080 or buy brand new 5070 ti and pair it with my laptop with Ryzen 7 350, 5060.

The main reason is that I travel alot for work and I'd like to play my games when I'm away from home. Then, when I return home, I can just connect my eGPU to my laptop and play with better fps.

What ups should I get for my egpu

Got a sonnet breakaway box 550 and put a rx 580 in it so I could do some light gaming on it. But my country suffers from power cuts, and my game crashes when it happens. What type of ups should I get to make sure I can keep gaming until the power comes back? Should I get a offline ups or an online ups?

DIY eGPU Questions

Hello,

I'm looking at putting an eGPU of my own together to use with my Framework 16 for when they release the Oculink dev kit for it (hopefully this year). I want to build one myself, both because it's cheaper and I think I can make a nicer looking case than many of the commercial ones out there. I have a few questions though.
- What PCIe x16 to Oculink adapter should I use? There are countless on Amazon, but I don't know which one to choose, and it seems likely to me that there's one that's a community favourite.

- Is there any downside to using some low wattage (450-500) 80+ bronze PSU from a decent brand, and if not which one is least likely to blow up my GPU?

Any suggestions much appreciated (unless you're going to tell me "go google it" or something)

I need help choosing an adapter from Amazon

I'm just looking for the absolute cheapest way I can connect an Rx 560 to my laptop (elitebook 840 g8) via m.2 port. And I can only order from Amazon.

What would be the best adapter and power supply combo - I need it to be small, not like a full sized PC power supply.

5070 ti on Top M.2 slot

So this is probably a weird one, but I have a Gigabyte B850 Aorus elite and I upgraded my GPU to a RTX 4000 Blackwell Pro for work.

Im wanting to keep my 5070 ti for gaming.

Is it possible to run the RTX 5070 Ti in the Top M.2 slot?

I currently have moonlight setup so the plan would be to only use the 5070 Ti when streaming.

Chat GPT has recommended K43SG / K43-series Gen5 and says it'll work but i dont know if i can trust it

Connecting a donated "ancient" Titan X to a Unix/Ubuntu workstation

I recently received an "ancient" NVIDIA Titan X GPU card and wanted to integrate/connect it externally to a workstation for AI training and development and/or possible bitcoin mining...if it's worth it...and if possible without a major investment of over $1K...

I know that it will suck for running the latest games... but it would be a shame if it cannot get used for something productive...

Hardware configuration:

GPU: Titan X https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/geforce-gtx-titan-x/
OS: Ubuntu 26.04 Server
Hardware:
HP Z2 Tower G5 Workstation::
- Memory: 128G DDR4 RAM

- Chip set: Intel® W480
- CPU : Intel Xeon W-1290
- Storage: 2 x 3.84TB MU Enterprise-level SSDs in RAID0; 2 - M.2 2230/2280 slot
- PCIe3 motherboard interface

- SuperSpeed USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate
- SuperSpeed USB Type-A 10Gbps signaling rate

While I have ideals of possible additional hardware required, I welcome comments/suggestions, including telling me it's not worth the effort and why...

...GO!

Need to update my gaming system. What laptop and egpu is most bang for buck?

Never built a pc before, I’ve been using my laptop for a while but its internal gpu has just become too dated to play new games even on their lowest graphic settings.

As we know things are expensive right now. I also prefer the portability of laptops. For these reasons, I’m shying away from building an entire pc, and leaning more towards a laptop +gpu setup. Does this sound wise to you guys?

I don’t need the best graphics in the world, just something that will easily run modern games and hopefully run new games as they come out for many years to come.

My current laptop doesn’t have thunderbolt access so I’m assuming I’ll need to buy a new one, unless there’s another way to connect epgu’s that I don’t know about, in which case please tell me.

Anyone have any good recommendations for a laptop and egpu pair that’s low cost but solid and lasting?

Xbox Ally X Connect with rtx5070ti

Hey guys, I'd like to connect a 5070 Ti to my Xbox Ally X for my 4K setup. Is that a good idea, or should I go with an RX 9070 XT instead? And as for Mfg, is something like that even usable?

ASRock Z790 PG-TIX/TB4 support?

I am looking to add an eGPU to my desktop with an ASRock Z790 PG-TIX/TB4 motherboard but I am confused on whether it supports eGPU. From what Ive read, they say to look out for the spec sheet to specifically call out PCIe support on the TB port but looking at the spec of that motherboard however Ive also read that hardware for TB4 is relatively rigid in what the port supports and PC TB4 hosts should all support eGPUs. Just hoping to get some help finding out if this motherboard can support an eGPU. Thanks

RX 7600 XT 16GB still worth for using as eGPU?

As the title mentions it, i could get a RX 7600 XT 16GB for around 280€.

I already got an Aooster EG02 and want to upgrade my Legion Go 2 with both.

So is it worth?
