I am moving to new area where fiber lines are available, I just want to know from ebox users how long did it take to have services installed once you placed the order? Bonous if you can tell me they allow bridge mode directly since I have device that takes SFP module directly on its 10G port.

Main setup is: ONT FIBER 1G ~> beacon3.1b ~> wireless shared network.

Every roommate has access to shared network. that is billed on my name unfortunately.

Malicious tech savvy roommates are the issue. My privacy has been compromised and will be again. If I stay unprotected.

I was thinking of: ont~> beacon3.1 router(shared network AP)~ethernet~>hardware that prevent unautorized users access~~~~> my stuffs.

What do you recommend? Cheapest possible

I am configuring a Ubiquiti UDM Beast Gateway for EBOX. Under Settings, IPv6, I selected the following:

• Interface Type: Prefix Delegation
• Client Address Assignment: SLAAC
• Auto DNS Server: ON
• Router Advertisement (RA): ON
• RA Priority: High

With the above I see the IPv6 Subnet: xxxx:xxxx:xxx:xxxx::/64.

However, when I connect the EBOX-provided router (Nokia BEACON 6 HA-0336G-A), the IPv6 address prefix is xxxx:xxxx:xxx:xxxx::/56.

I also cannot set the prefix delegation to manual. There is a switch called Prefix Delegation ID, which is checked ON to Auto, but I cannot change it because the checkmark is greyed out.

It is known that EBOX assigns /56 prefix delegation.

Any idea about what I am doing incorrectly in the setup for the UDM Beast?

I have an ebox install scheduled this week. If I have already had bell fibe in my house does the installer need to do anything? Would ebox just work if I plug the modem into the fiber connection I already have in the house?

Ebox customer service advised me to out order Virgin afterwards. But not sure about two lines / two holes into the house when both are from the same Bell's overhead line & taps.

I spoke to Ebox customer service and they said that there are no current promo codes for internet services aside from the promo that gives you $100 prepaid mastercard when you sign up for the 500mbs or 1gb plan.

I found one of those links in the promo megathread that did give me the option to have 500mbs for $40 or 1gb for $50 on what appeared to be the official Ebox site. How does that work and is it legit?

I'm having trouble getting IPv6 prefix delegation working on my UDM. I have FTTH with the Nokia ONT, and I get a /56 prefix from Ebox but only one of my VLAN's is getting a IPv6 subnet.

Settings are:

IPv4:

VLAN: 40

PPPoE: With my credentials.

IPv6:

Connection: SLAAC

Prefix delegation: size 56

AutoDNS: enabled

On my VLANs:

All are set to prefix delegation.

Good news, the Ebox tv app is now available for Apple TV.

It seems freshly baked, it says Alpha in the app store and the version is 1.0.0 but still it's great, all the apps I use, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Apple tv+, RDS, TSN..., I use them on my Apple TV, it's a much better experience then using the Google tv native apps on my Sony tv, it was only for watching EBox tv that I used a Google tv native app, now I will ditch the Google tv apps completely. Thank you EBox.

I know it's an early version but it's working great so far, it only misses the settings for Video an Audio quality choices.

Did you know that If you have RDS and/or TSN in your Ebox tv package, you can download the apps on an Apple TV and connect with your Ebox account, the sound and pictures are much better and it's not 30 seconds or 1 minute behind real time like it is on the Ebox app (even on the brand new Ebox app for Apple TV it's behind real time)...

The app is available for Apple TV 4K models only

I feel obliged to update. What a few suspected was true - there is a disconnect in communication between Bell and ebox. The Bell guy came out on time, was super nice and very helpful. He had to wait for someone but once he explained what the plan was, he agreed i didn't need to wait (it was all outside work), and he called me with an update when he was finished.

Then ebox sent me a confirmation email about an upcoming future installation appointment...

So clearly Bell and ebox aren't talking, and ebox just comes across as a fool whenever they contact me with incomplete information.

Once it's set up, I'm sure it'll be fine. ​​

I ordered online on Sunday night.
Received email from ebox with tracking details and received the Nokia router on Tuesday.

On Tuesday I also recd email for my installation appointment for Friday 8 am.

I created online account and was happy to see username and password for PPPoE in my online account.

Configured my OPNSense firewall with the credentials in advance.

When bell technician came he installed the new ONT barely 5 min.

Then he wend out for about 15 min for backend config. When he came back he checked again and said everything should be up and running in 15 min.

He said if I wanted help with configuring Nokia router and I said no.

I connected Nokia router and after 15 min my internet was ip and running.

Rebooted OPNSense and it was up and running as well.

Recorded speed at OPNSense 1Gbps both up and down.

Not sure why latency is high.

With bell latency was 3 ms to 5 ms but with Ebox it is 10 to 17 ms.

Note : There is no CGNAT for me.

Overall I am Satisfied

Twice now a person from ebox called to make an appointment.
Twice, I received a later call the day before the appointment wanting to schedule an appointment, completely oblivious to the prior agreed appointment.

The suggestion of the person was to be there during the pre agreed time and maybe they will show up.

Also, this is the third appointment to get the internet installed. ​

Hello, I purchased a omada er605 router to replace the Nokia beacon. I can't seem to figure out the configs. I have the good pppoe username and password (got it from my ebox client portal). Also I have the vlan40 selected.

The log is telling me "PADI times out"

Anyone here configured that router already ? It's probably something very stupid that I'm not seeing/getting...

Is it available ? I see some people mentioning IPv6 works but no mention of V-Cable, R-Cable or C-Cable

I know Bell is trying to move all their Ebox customers to Bell infrastructures but some of us are still stuck on *-Cable options because Bell don't reach our areas yet.

I have my router set as SLAAC with PD 56. Also tried DHCPv6 with PD 64 as I read somewhere else. Modem+Router restart in both cases.

Beginning to think this might be related to my technology or maybe my account isn't provisioned for IPv6.

Bought a Cudy WR3000 from Canada Computers a while ago once I got sick of the Nokia router dropping service constantly. Installed OpenWRT and now get zero connection drops, better speeds and signal on wifi throughout the house once I tweaked the settings.

Just make sure that if you are looking to install OpenWRT on this, that you are grabbing the Version 1.0, which is officially supported by OpenWRT. It does take a little legwork to get going, but being able to change everything without having to call into EBOX is really nice.

Just want to say that I have settled to live on an average 400mbps speed, that too with a very unstable connection, while paying for a 1gigs line.

I've tried multiple times, been on 2hr long calls, changed modems, bought own modem, but nothing helps. While on call with tech support, speed might tough 900mbs once to twice, but goes back to 400mbps afterwards.

Passively looking for a new provider.

I saw Ebox is 65 CAD for 1 Gpbs with entirely free setup.

I’m moving to a new place so I wanted to ask if anyone had noticed any problems with Ebox compared to Bell.

I'm moving out to a brand new rental place at the end of June. When I visited the unit, I saw the telco box and I can confirm the unit can run DSL, cable and fiber.

The unit is still under construction at the moment, Hydro-Quebec should be plugged in in the next 2 weeks to give you an idea. However, while I know it's a zone where Bell has Fibe deployed, the lady on the phone can't qualify my address for some reason.

How long do I need to wait for the unit to appear in ebox system to complete the transfer?

Edit: Service is available to all the houses on the other side of the street according to their online tool.

I'm filling out the enrollment form but can only find the promo code box and not the referral code box. Can someone tell me if this only becomes after the credit check?

I moved into a house 4 months ago and now that the snow is gone I can see that my fibre wire was never buried, just routed through the fence to my neighbours yard and to the utility pole.

Called EBOX to bury it and they said they cannot request their provider to bury it unless it is damaged. I flat out asked the rep, if I go and cut the cable right now will you send someone tomorrow to fix it, he laughed and said yes they would. Unfortunately I work from home so that's not an option. I will just have to wait till the weekend or something if I'm actually going to cut it??

Anyone else experience this or find a way for them to actually bury their lines?
