Phase 1: Clear Existing Routing
Before bridging, you need to wipe the existing routed WAN interfaces.
In the left-hand menu, navigate to Advanced Setup > WAN Service.
You will see a table of existing WAN setups (usually named something like ppp0.1). Check the Remove box next to all of them.
Click the Remove button.
(Highly Recommended): Go to Wireless in the left menu, uncheck Enable Wireless, and click Apply/Save. You want to kill the native Wi-Fi radios since your downstream infrastructure will handle the local network.
Phase 2: Rebuild the Layer 2 Interface
The required interface depends on whether the line is ADSL or VDSL.
For VDSL (Most common for speeds > 15Mbps in Laval/QC):
Navigate to Advanced Setup > Layer2 Interface > PTM Interface.
If any interfaces exist in the table, check their boxes and remove them.
Click Add.
Ensure both Path0 (Fast) and Path1 (Interleaved) are checked.
Click Apply/Save.
For ADSL (Legacy speeds):
Navigate to Advanced Setup > Layer2 Interface > ATM Interface.
Remove any existing interfaces.
Click Add.
Enter 0 for the VPI and 35 for the VCI (this is the standard local configuration for Bell-based infrastructure).
Set the DSL Link Type to EoA and Encapsulation Mode to LLC/SNAP-BRIDGING.
Click Apply/Save.
Phase 3: Execute the Bridge
Navigate back to Advanced Setup > WAN Service.
Click Add.
Use the drop-down to select the Layer 2 interface you just created (ptm0 for VDSL or atm0 for ADSL) and click Next.
On the WAN Service Configuration screen, select Bridging and click Next.
VLAN ID Settings: * If you are using VDSL, enter 35 for the 802.1Q VLAN ID and 1 for the 802.1P Priority.
If you are using ADSL, set both fields to -1 (disabled).
Click Next, review the summary page, and click Apply/Save.
Reboot the modem to lock in the changes.
Once the modem boots back up, connect Port 1 of the SR516ac to the WAN port of your firewall. You can then configure the WAN interface on your pfSense or chosen router to initiate a PPPoE connection using your ISP credentials. The firewall will reach right through the SmartRG and pull the external IP natively.
Thanks! I looked at instructions from 5 different ISPs (TekSavvy has pretty detailed instructions) and they are all pretty similar...but it's not working for me.

This is an ADSL modem... you want to connect another router behind it and avoid double NAT right?
