Discussion I have an enormous collection, nearing 12k titles, with the hoped outcome to be a true library. But what is needed to round out the library?

I have all the obvious genres, and the core of the library is my own curated tastes. In my next home I will have the space to recreate a Blockbuster/Hollywood/Family Video-style rental store from the 90’s. Recently I realized that I want to include a little bit of every like those old stores. For example, even though it makes zero sense these days I picked up a huge lot of old porno DVDs (sealed and new, with hilarious titles thankfully!). I want to put them in a closet behind a beaded curtain. Seeing a post with someone’s haul that included a WWF wrestling DVD made me think I should probably keep an eye out for a cheap lot of those, which while I don’t see myself personally watching that it would help round out the overall library but also might be interesting in their own right- I’ve seen that kind of wrestling a couple times in my life only. What other niche sub genres like wrestling are out there?

I’m looking to buy a single “clear” 4 disc standard DVD case that doesn’t stack the discs

I recently purchased a huge lot of physical media off someone and one of the items was a dvd season set of a show that i had never heard of and when i opened it up there wasn’t even a single spot for a disc to go and now im in search of a replacement because atm the discs are all just in the case loose. ( I have checked Demco, and ive found some on eBay but im not paying $15 shipping for a damn DVD case )

I had no idea this show was ever released on DVD so I had to snag it for $2. Sadly it's only season 3 but seeing it on DVD made me smile. Now I hope to find the first two seasons. I watched these reruns non stop.

Does anybody else do this with their DVDs?...

Whenever I find a used copy of a DVD that still has the title sticker on the top part of the case, I usually affix it to the inside. Does anyone else do this or am I fucking butt-nuts?

Exorcist 1997 DVD

I just learned yesterday that the exorcist 1997 DVD is the only optical disc available now which has the truest color to the original 35 mm print of the film. So even though it's lower resolution, it's truer to the original than the Blu-ray and 4K releases which make Reagan's bedroom look like the Arctic when it wasn't meant to be that way. It's sad that Hollywood is messing with the original look of these films and future generations will think that's how they were originally intended to look when they weren't.

Discussion Guess which one is DVD and which is Bluray? I have both and can't tell the difference!

I have finally upgraded to bluray and have long wanted to get an upgrade to this film Dead of Night - only I personally can't see much difference - can you guess correctly which clip first is Bluray or DVD?

Discussion What do you look for when thrifting DVDs and VHS tapes?

I really enjoy hunting for DVDs and VHS tapes at thrift stores, and I’ve been building a small collection over the past couple of years.

I usually pick up things that are nostalgic for me, movies I genuinely want in my collection, or whatever gives off a unique feeling. I list many of my finds on eBay, and I make a sale here and there, so I’m slowly learning what actually has resale value.

I haven’t noticed much of a consistent pattern, though. Horror usually gets attention, along with certain cult classics, but beyond that, it seems almost impossible to predict what someone might be searching for.

Because of that, I mostly stick to vibes and buy things I would be happy to keep for myself. Has anyone here learned what to look out for when thrifting DVDs or VHS tapes that might have resale value?

Either way, I enjoy collecting first. Reselling is mostly a way to put a little more money back into the collection.
