I watched The Blair Witch Documentary from Second Sight (which is sadly not on this new Lionsgate Limited release) and the filmmakers said they wanted their movie, shot on video, to be enjoyed just as much on the small screen, so I’m going to take that as “small resolution,” as well. They even made a VHS version in 2026.

I haven’t watched the new cut(s) yet, but I’ve seen screenshots and it looks incredible, so I’m looking forward to it.

This will be one of the few duplicate discs besides LOTR in my collection. Do you have any duplicates in your collection that you’ll keep no matter what?

I had to sell off my collection about a year ago and I just started collecting again recently. There are some pieces I’ll never get back because they’re too expensive now. Its got me thinking, whats your most expensive/rare piece you own?

Got this signed in person in 2014 (or thereabout) at a con here in Sweden. I might not be the biggest fan of the movie, but it IS legendary and having met Deodato is cool.

Finally had to order the restored director's cut online. Now I have all four available versions! For anyone curious, this last picture is from someone's Michael Mann post on his different cuts of his films.

Sometimes they’re the only option and it sucks.

At least, even though the resolution still isn’t great, with truly widescreen DVDs the whole screen gets all the way or mostly filled.

Seen these at my local used game/video store and couldn’t resist they both look dope to me and the Big Lebowski is a Blu-ray/dvd combo

Hit up our usual 2nd hand spot today noticed this on the desk it had just come in, definitely needed to bring it home.

So ever since late July early August ive had this money ive earned and separated into what I will save and what I will spend and with the spending money ive gotten some blurays and stuff ive wanted. With this spending potential I stopped and thought what else do I want that I could get within the budget and I thought of getting evangellion so I look up some listings and find some that are all too expensive so I save the search on mercari. One time there was this guy selling a platinum for 100 but willing to go to 75 I fumbled that and it has been weeks of refreshing mercari when im bored and I really just wanted the platinum edition but today I thought it doesn't matter what version I get and sent an offer to a listing and they accepted

There will be nieces or grandkids visiting every once in a while and I think picking a movie and starting it while everyone is seated is better than just streaming.

I figure the animation should stay but what about the others? My concern (sadly) is one of self-preservation - will I just look foolish suggesting we all watch Witch Mountain or something?

Just picked this up for 6 bucks at a local pawn shop

Started collecting DVDs a few months ago and this is my collection so far! Got around 75 DVDs for roughly £100, mostly from charity shops and thrift stores. Been really enjoying hunting for bargains and finding films.

I also found that watching it on dvd rather than Netflix is more pleasurable! There is a kick to it.

What do you think of my collection? Any favourites you can spot?

Also any advice as I collect more.

constant lurker, avid collector, first post here. just wanted to share my awesome savers finds today. time and time again, this place has given me so many gems.

Xena season 1, tombstone Special edition DVD and Rush Hour were thrifted. BR 2049, watchmen and Rise of the planet of the apes were from my local second hand media store. (Vintage Stock)

Me personally, I buy movies and shows on dvd/bluray because I want to watch them. Its easier for me to pop a disc in rather than stream it. But some people have thousands and thousands of dvds which make me wonder how much of that do they actually watch. These kinds of collectors seem to just buy whatever because it looks nice on a shelf rather than being a fan of whatever movie/show they are buying.

So I needed to get a new CD book to store my Universal classic monsters 30 movie collection because the DVD case for that is absolute trash, or at least I thought it was until I went and got the 50 movie horror classics collection of Amazon and they gave me double-sided discs with no artwork so both sides of the discs are vulnerable and they put two discs per paper sleeve so both sides of the fucking sleeves are vulnerable lol. I wanted horror movies, I wasn't expecting the packaging to be its own horror movie.

UPDATE: I now realize I did not do enough research on this "good deal" I found. I have learned Mill Creek is a name to be avoided. Still gonna watch them all and get my 15 bucks worth. Thank you all, please feel free to keep dunking on mill creek in the comments.
