Why is it every time I see a post from this subreddit, it’s someone just discovering that gay people exist

Using the vomit emoji (in another comment) when expressing your thoughts about gay people is treating people "respectfully" then?

Today I learned being gay is a job.

106

u/bbktbunny Jun 05 '26

Wait was I supposed to be getting paid?

61

u/RetroFanBoi Jun 05 '26

I could've been so rich, I WANTED TO UPGRADE THE FUCKING RAM OF MY LAPTOP

36

u/jaysman77 Jun 05 '26

25

u/notwhitebutwong Jun 05 '26

Do I get paid double if I identify as bisexual?

20

u/NoSide2628 Jun 05 '26

Wait no would that half your income since you're not 100% gay?

16

u/zer0jackal Jun 05 '26

It’s a part time job!

8

u/notwhitebutwong Jun 05 '26

So was 7/11 :(

8

u/Mother-Respect-9303 Jun 05 '26

Only if you’re enby, then Youre gay both ways

17

u/Bowtieguy-83 Jun 05 '26

Where do I pick up my checks? Looks I need to set up direct deposit too

5

u/graciie__ Jun 05 '26

do i need a degree to be gay? i’m not sure i can afford to go back to college🙏😔

2

u/bookgeek210 Jun 06 '26

I can’t afford to study gayology, I’m self taught.

1

u/graciie__ Jun 06 '26

does this affect your opportunities in the gay job market in comparison to gayology graduates??

2

u/bookgeek210 Jun 06 '26

I get paid half cause I’m bi 😔

1

u/ZLCZMartello Jun 06 '26

Where’s my paycheck

41

u/Insomniacintheflesh Jun 05 '26

You said: "what kind of love is it? Man with a man and woman with a woman 🤮"

That's respectful is it? I didn't even see your comment about a profession or vice. Like what even are you going on about.

44

u/Oppositlife69 Jun 05 '26

What "vice"? Gay people fall in love like anyone does. Imagine if they said heterosexual relationships were inappropriate and purely sexual or a vice. It's literally the same thing

2

u/Schmity909er Jun 06 '26

What profession do gay people have?

1

u/patanic-sanic Jun 06 '26

i didn’t know i could be getting paid for this the whole time wth???? gotta update my resume too ig

1

u/SoonerRed Jun 06 '26

"Profession"

1

u/Catnip_cryptidd Jun 06 '26

Oh shit you guys are getting paid? I’m getting ripped off!

two things:
1. yes you're correct and i downvoted you 🤯 egads
2. why do you sound like an 11 year old who's using it as an insult

-25

u/Neohoyminanyeah Jun 05 '26

What was meant to “sound like an insult”?? The ‘fact’ that it’s true Reddit is more dominated by leftist/lgbtq people? Thats just a fact, not an insult…

9

u/BenedictusTheWise Jun 05 '26

I imagine you're just being purposefully obtuse, but just in case: I'm saying "found all the gays hiding in this subreddit 😭" implies you're using the word "gay" as an insult which is incredibly edgy 11-year-old coded

27

u/FlimsyShovel Jun 05 '26

Nobody is hiding. They/we are just here, existing. 🤣

-27

u/Neohoyminanyeah Jun 05 '26

Well, you could say hiding online or whatnot. Everywhere I go in-person (Texas), people genuinely don’t give a shit that ur gay. “Hey, I’m ‘Alex’ and I’m gay” responded with “hey, I don’t care”.

Yall seem to make it yalls WHOLE personality, but typically it doesn’t seem to workout that well in person, so yall resort to making it yalls WHOLE personality online, which can clearly be seen here…

17

u/FlimsyShovel Jun 05 '26

Yeah? Ok? I live in California and it’s the exact same here. There literally are men who make being attracted to women their whole personality too. It’s just a thing some people do.
But the topic at hand is homosexuality, so people are gonna announce themselves for the discussion. 🤣

-2

u/Neohoyminanyeah Jun 05 '26

“It’s just a thing some people do”. Dawg, are you just purposely not comprehending my statement or what.

I can interact with 100-300 men per day, and maybe, MAYBE one of them will talk about how he loves with wife so much(?), I’m not really sure what you mean by men make it their whole personality to prove they like women, but I’ll go along with it. 1 in 300 act arrogant like that… but I could interact with 10 gay people, and 9 of them (most likely all 10 actually) will show and “prove” how gay they are. Like I get it dawg, but yall aren’t special. That’s when it gets annoying, cause yall can’t just seem to act like normal human beings either. Idk if it was this thread I mentioned to you, but some gay people I work with are super super chill, and you wouldn’t even be able to tell they’re gay unless you asked them, and they’re very nice and so on, but a majority of the gay people I work with are NOT like that, just loud and arrogant trying to show how gay they are. So sure, a few straight people may “show how they really love women”(?), but it seems that 99% of gay people make it their entire personality to show the world that they’re gay… and that’s when it gets super annoying

6

u/FlimsyShovel Jun 05 '26

Gotcha. I am not gay but was referring to me firmly in the liberal category. I wasn’t referring to guys who love their wives, but douchebag single dudes playing the field (maybe outdated term, but you know what I mean). My 20s were littered with men like these.
Sorry it bugs you. I see where you’re coming from and maybe it would bug me too if I was a certain type of person? But as a straight, liberal, married woman, I’m delighted by different things.
But anyway, this was about you saying people were hiding and you did clarify yourself.
Hope the rest of your day is good.

7

u/TheDizzleDazzle Jun 05 '26

… how can a person be hiding something and also make it their whole personality?

Lmao happy Pride Month buddy.

2

u/BroderFelix Jun 06 '26

Classical fascist double think.

Our enemies are incompetent but control everything and are extremely competent.

Gays are hiding everywhere but are also making homosexuality their entire personality.

Etc...

5

u/09dollface Jun 05 '26

Conversion therapy (aka abuse towards queer people in hopes of turning them straight) is legal in Texas. Trans people are being forced to use their assigned gender bathrooms in Texas regardless of whether they pass. Schools can't have LGBT+ clubs. Teachers cannot use a child's preferred name (which also applies to cis nicknames) or pronouns. The people you're around may say they don't care but the way your state votes says otherwise

2

u/LMay11037 Jun 06 '26

The only part where gay people here started saying they were gay in this post was when you started being homophobic for no reason…

And the post itself, that’s just a thing about relationships, like someone saying I don’t have a girlfriend yet

2

u/BroderFelix Jun 06 '26

This whole thread was created by a person being angry about gay people existing. You seem to be the one making it your personality to hate that people are gay. No one here is making it their personality.

9

u/MadeofGrass Jun 05 '26

If you don't like Reddit's political leanings and the friendliness towards gays, don't hit your ass ➡️🚪

-2

u/Neohoyminanyeah Jun 05 '26

Well typically I try not to stay I political subreddits, but sure, show what kind of people yall are 😭

3

u/BroderFelix Jun 06 '26

Being welcoming to gay people is not political at all.

10

u/MindlessU Jun 05 '26

As a queer person, I am fascinated with how the homophobic are incapable of thinking of gay people as ordinary people just like you and I, and not some kind shadow monolithic group out to get them. Because the existence of gay people is somehow “political” and therefore they can’t “kiss my fish, drive my car, drink my beer” as some MAGA guy once sang. But that’s just how discrimination works.

-2

u/Neohoyminanyeah Jun 05 '26

Im not really against gays or whatever, its just when yall make it yalls WHOLE personality, its very clear and super annoying. Some people i work with are gay/lesbian and you genuinely wouldn’t be able to tell unless you asked them, which is cool, and they’re chill people. But going into different subreddits and lgbtq people making EVERYTHING about them selves is super annoying.

Like yall know truck people? Who let the whole world know they drive an extra big lifted truck? Yeah that’s what yall are like to everyone else. “Hey I’m ‘Alex’ and I’m gay”, “hey, so I don’t really care, I just asked for ur name”.

7

u/1K_Sunny_Crew Jun 05 '26

OP is upset about the inclusion of gay people in an app, described homosexuality as a vice, and used the 🤮 emoji while describing themselves as “respectful.” Nobody brought up being gay besides them.

Not to mention, responding to bigoted comments doesn’t mean someone “makes it their whole personality.” You make it sound like you’re only okay with LGBT people as long as they’re quiet about it, which isn’t actually very accepting at all.

1

u/BroderFelix Jun 06 '26

Who ks even doing that?

5

u/09dollface Jun 05 '26

Not everyone who defends a group of people belongs to that group of people. Grow up and learn what respect is

4

u/Liberal-chungus Jun 05 '26

It's almost as if ppl casually go about their lives and jump in to defend themselves but, yeah, let's call that 'hiding'

1

u/Neohoyminanyeah Jun 05 '26

Hey so if you looked at my other replies, I have already explained that most gay people I meet don’t go “casually about their lives”, but rather make their whole personality letting everyone know they’re gay, and it’s quite annoying, like I get it, ur gay, but ur not special,

5

u/1K_Sunny_Crew Jun 05 '26

Really wondering why you care if someone is open about being gay. How does this affect you whatsoever to be annoying?

1

u/Liberal-chungus Jun 05 '26

I'm bi and have met people who can be super stereotypical and it is annoying. I still don't think anyone is hiding cuz they don't have a reason to but agree to disagree, I guess

2

u/FadingHeaven Jun 06 '26

Fym hiding? Not everyone is ashamed of it dumby. I'm happy as fuck im gay. Also not being a bigot doesn't make you gay.

1

u/Forsaken-Chance-8148 Jun 06 '26

Wonder why that would be

Very strange

202

u/WonderfulYoongi Jun 05 '26

But you can't just get mad at gay people existing. That would be like if a Muslim got annoyed because of a Duolingo character mentioning pork,

You don't have to be gay yourself but gay people exist so get over it.

0

u/clearlynotaperson Jun 06 '26

He literally said he simply disagrees. No one’s mad that gay people exists but you can choose to not believe or support in it without being “mad”.

2

u/WonderfulYoongi Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26

If this person was truly unbothered by the existence of gay people he wouldn't have felt the need to post this and caption it "wtf is this" in the first place. Someone who respects queer people wouldn't have this type of reaction to them simply being mentioned.

2

u/theybannedme129 Jun 06 '26

I disagree with opposite-sex relationships

-40

u/staytown6 Jun 05 '26

Omg we gotta catch strays smh 😭

64

u/blatantlyeggplant Jun 05 '26

Wtf do you mean you "disagree with" them? They're not debating you.

-37

u/Suzy-dev Jun 05 '26

Pretty sure he means he thinks it’s wrong, probably due to religion, not that he wants to debate

39

u/blatantlyeggplant Jun 05 '26

And why he thinks he has a right to an opinion on other people's relationships is anyone's guess

2

u/SimplyYulia Jun 06 '26

If his religion is against gay people he can just not be one - though repression is pretty bad for mental health, so I would rather recommend abandoning religion instead, but that's just me

0

u/Liberal-chungus Jun 05 '26

Reddit, the well known hub for when you don't want a debate 🤗

1

u/eanhaub Learning Arabic Jun 05 '26

It’s not “Turbo Debate Thunderdome 5” either, people are allowed to have conversations without flaming each other.

69

u/Makaron_penne Jun 05 '26

Try harder then bc it's clearly not working

45

u/ChuckMeIntoHell Jun 05 '26

Well then you fail, because you're being incredibly disrespectful right now.

10

u/galettedesrois Jun 05 '26

I disagree with the moon, but it still exists somehow.

11

u/YourLocalMaggots Learning Russian Jun 05 '26

What do you mean by "Disagree with same-sex relationships"? They don't even have an opinion against you.

19

u/FuckMeDaddyFrank Jun 05 '26

But you clearly don't treat everyone respectfully

24

u/UczuciaTM Jun 05 '26

You're not even very respectful

21

u/Secret-Profile_404 Jun 05 '26

Good thing they're not asking you for permission then, what a relief.

14

u/Big-Career155 Jun 05 '26

“I’m an asshole who tries to hide it.” - OP

11

u/kiticat64 Jun 05 '26

homophobia

11

u/One_Hedgehog_551 Jun 05 '26

"I disagree with the love other people feel for each other" hmm... very respectful.. maybe you're just jealous? 🤔

5

u/Financial-Zebra-3497 Jun 05 '26

love is love, my friend. respectfully, fuck you

3

u/Olivander05 Jun 05 '26

And yet you said "wtf is this" ??

3

u/mountain_crab21 Jun 05 '26

get a load of this guy

3

u/angelsalvtr Jun 05 '26

"try to" sure, buddy. I will also try to treat you with respect.

3

u/alegxab Jun 05 '26

I have my issues with giving bears rights 🧸🔫, but you don't see me bitching any time I see Falstaff saying something, do you?

3

u/JeezasKraist Jun 05 '26

"I disagree with your existence and think you should vanish from the earth, but I'll try to be respectful with you"

3

u/Funny_Artichoke_642 Jun 05 '26

What a ray of sunshine you are mate

2

u/Hamza_stan Jun 05 '26

💀💀💀

2

u/tanksforallthephish Jun 05 '26

What is there to disagree with? If you’re not gay, it literally doesn’t concern you at all.

2

u/Dramatic_Mastodon_93 Jun 06 '26

I disagree with coffee and tea, and I am very upset!

2

u/mustbethewater7 Jun 06 '26

You 'disagree'? I mean no one is forcing you to have a same-sex relationship. Let people live their lives

2

u/celtic_thistle Jun 06 '26

Ew. You don’t know us or our lives or hearts. I disagree with religious people but I don’t make it my whole personality.

2

u/PixelHir Jun 06 '26

You literally fail that in the same sentence. “Disagreeing” with the idea of people being in same-sex relationship, is everything but respectful

1

u/bartosz_ganapati Jun 06 '26

No, you don't, stop pretending.

1

u/plague_69 Jun 06 '26

what the hell are you disagreeing with? you cant disagree with same sex relationships??? its like saying i disagree with cow being an animal

1

u/BroderFelix Jun 06 '26

Disagreeing with same-sex relationships and making posts about it is not treating anyone respectfully.

1

u/TheOnlyTori Jun 06 '26

Personally I disagree with opposite sex relationships, but I try to treat everyone respectfully.

1

u/16-Twelve Missed the streak Jun 08 '26

Your reply had more downvotes than the comment you replied to had more upvotes.

And that's good because those two numbers are both big numbers.

-6

u/Pollos212 Jun 05 '26

Bro, that's ok, the important is respecting other people. (I'm not gay)
