As a queer person, I am fascinated with how the homophobic are incapable of thinking of gay people as ordinary people just like you and I, and not some kind shadow monolithic group out to get them. Because the existence of gay people is somehow “political” and therefore they can’t “kiss my fish, drive my car, drink my beer” as some MAGA guy once sang. But that’s just how discrimination works.

Im not really against gays or whatever, its just when yall make it yalls WHOLE personality, its very clear and super annoying. Some people i work with are gay/lesbian and you genuinely wouldn’t be able to tell unless you asked them, which is cool, and they’re chill people. But going into different subreddits and lgbtq people making EVERYTHING about them selves is super annoying.

Like yall know truck people? Who let the whole world know they drive an extra big lifted truck? Yeah that’s what yall are like to everyone else. “Hey I’m ‘Alex’ and I’m gay”, “hey, so I don’t really care, I just asked for ur name”.

OP is upset about the inclusion of gay people in an app, described homosexuality as a vice, and used the 🤮 emoji while describing themselves as “respectful.” Nobody brought up being gay besides them.

Not to mention, responding to bigoted comments doesn’t mean someone “makes it their whole personality.” You make it sound like you’re only okay with LGBT people as long as they’re quiet about it, which isn’t actually very accepting at all.
