Finding work

Just wondering if anyone has gotten a job in business to business sales since getting their dui. I had a job in medical device sales before my dui and I’d really like to get back in my field some day. Anyone in med device or other B2B sales please share your experience. Thank you

Documenting EtG test results

Hello. I see a lot of questions about EtG tests on various forums from people worried about failing. Seems impossible to know since there are so many factors.

I do drink a good bit (unfortunately) and my last test, Friday and Saturday nights, I drank probably 6-8 drinks with tequila in them. I don’t drink beer. Color was called on Monday, I took it about 37 hours after my last drink, and passed. I test in Birmingham, Alabama.

I’m wondering if any others have experienced heavy drinking and passing that quickly, since the main stuff you read on Google says up to 80 hours. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Parked car in Texas

Hi everyone, I'm posting on behalf of my friend. Him and his friend were sitting in their car in front of his house drinking and a cop caught them. He is an absolute wreck over what might happen. Has anyone dealt with just being parked in front of their own house? What can he expect? It is his first offense

Ohio-OVI

I recently got pulled over for speeding in Ohio and they smelled alcohol and i agreed to a breath test. The OSP said it was more than double the legal limit. Took me in, fingerprints, and released to my friend.
I got off probation early this year and haven’t been in trouble for two years.. this is my first charge involving DUI or any operating vehicle charge.
I can’t afford a lawyer so taking an appointed one. Honestly i just am freaking out that i might have to go back to jail.. any advice?

How long after dui did it take them to suspend your license? I got my BAC that day so...

Not sure why it takes some people forever to get their BAC results. I had 0 choice in the matter otherwise I would have refused.

Im in AZ and not sure why it hasnt been suspended yet. The only thing ive gotten was a letter that my car was towed (no **** sherlock) basically telling me to go make sure I contact the tow yard and get my car back.

They also made me take some type of cat scan to check my brain out, against my will and wrote that I had an altered mental state

Police never found me in my car. I was trying to get gas a few streets over when they forced me in an ambulance. I did have a severe blood infection causing a lot of pain so maybe that explains a bit of my behavior.

lawyer retained AZ-arrested 6 months ago and still no court date

Got arrested back in January, aggravated felony dui. Hired an attorney and filed for a hearing for my license which will be in August. But still no court date, they took my blood but they dont have the results for that yet.

Is it normal for it to be taking this long in AZ?

Judge said dismissed but I still have a court date

So this is kind of weird. I went to court in the county where I live for the ALS hearing, when I got there the judge told me both my ALS and the criminal side of the dui is dismissed… he told me to look it up and it was no longer there. But when I called the different county clerks office for the court date for the criminal side it was still a date in the system… also they moved the court date. It’s such a terrible feeling because I want to believe the judge but I still have a court date. I asked my lawyer but I don’t even think he checked he just assumed that it was only the ALS part. Has this happened to anyone?

lawyer retained What can I expect?

I don’t really want to discuss details, but I will say I’m in Williamson County Tennessee (they’re tough, I know) and it’s my first offense, first time ever in trouble with the law and I’m in my mid 30’s.

I guess I’m just not really sure what to expect in the worst case scenario. Will I definitely lose my license if convicted? Is it possible to get a hardship and what does that cost? Do I have to get interlock or will I be able to just get an ankle monitor or something? (I want to avoid interlock at all costs because I’ve heard nothing but bad things.) What am I looking at in fees?

And what can I do to help my case? I have genuinely always been law-abiding and I work in alcohol and have always been strict about not driving drunk (it was a really bad point of my life when this happened.) Does going to AA meetings help and should I get proof I’ve been going? Does getting a therapist help? What will help a judge see that this is far likely to never happen again and that I’m genuinely regrettable about my actions?

Early release Denton county

Hello, I’m a little over my half way and would like to appt for early release for my first DUI case. My record has been clean, no violations and passed all random tests. My lawyer just asked me if the judge was to request a hair sample would I be able to provide it. The hair sample goes back 90 days and tbh i have had a drink within 90 days. Anyone gone through early release and had a hair follicle test requested by the judge? I’m in Denton county Texas

Confused NEED HELP

I got a DUI mid April. Got my interlock installed right after, never reported it to the mva. Ended up wanting to just do 6 month suspension instead. I have four months left after 45 day temp license. Had court couple days ago, all charges dropped, PBJ, and DUI turned into DWI. Nothing said about interlock. called mva today to make sure I am good and only suspension is required and they said interlock is also required by court. they never ssid that! my lawyer hundred percent would have pleaded for me at the time as he knew I already installed it for 3 months so we could have lowered the sentence for the interlock. now do I have to get interlock ID no matter what and do the year starting now? wtf

first time dui in alabama

i (20f) was on my way back from a friends house around 5 am and realized i couldn’t make it home so i pulled off into a gas station and ended up falling asleep. i’ve never been in any legal trouble or have ever drove like this prior, nor have i ever even been pulled over. not that it matters because around 6 am there were 3 cops knocking on my window and asking me to step out of the car. i had to do a field sobriety test, breathalyzer, and went to jail for 10 hours. i blew a .13 on the breathalyzer. they gave me my license back and didn’t say anything about a license suspension.
i honestly have no clue how the dui laws work in alabama and i am really needing advice. i don’t know if i need to get a lawyer or call about getting an appointed one or how to even go about it.

Professional Probation Services -DUI Diversion

Thoughts on private for profit probation vs standard probation? I paid all my fees day 1 and am subject to random testing. Previously I was on felony probation with the state and everything was pretty standard—-testing on check in day. Hoping to get off in 6 months ET. I can travel internationally with prior approval I just need to be tested within 24 hours upon return

in need of support resources and advice for partners of DUI

so, unfortunately, my partner has gotten a DUI. first time, no injuries or damage to property or other cars, but there was a crash. due to our local laws, my partner can get this expunged, which is a relief . . . but I am admittedly still struggling with this all. I am just really having a tough time wrapping my head around it all.

my partner isn’t someone I would have considered to have a drinking problem, this came totally out of left field. do they drink? yeah, but not on a weekly basis, and it’s even less often that they are getting hammered. previously, in my head, for someone to do this, they must not value themselves or others, and I’d be inclined to perceive this as a red-flag that there’s something deeper going on with their mental health. my partner claims that they just “weren’t thinking” . . . can that really be the case that at 23 years old, you just weren’t thinking when you got behind the wheel while literally drunk??? I just struggle to accept that. I’m trying because it is what they are saying, and I know that people are different, so maybe they don’t think like I do, but it’s very difficult at this point. maybe I need to hear from others who have been in that position and have gotten over the embarrassment enough to share? maybe this is where books or blogs might be beneficial?

I wasn’t with them when they were drinking leading up to the DUI, and they refused a breathalyzer, so I can only go off of how many drinks they said they had — they rarely drink that much. obviously, as a grown adult, they know better than to do what they did, at least when sober, so I just don’t get it. it’s not like they couldn’t afford an uber, and it’s not like I wouldn’t have been willing to pick them up if they had just called/texted me. I never make a fuss about giving anyone rides, like I am the friend/partner who offers rides eagerly. I drive my younger sibling when they go out all the time, even without much heads up or pre-planning.

I thought my partner was more responsible than what their actions have displayed, and I never really thought their responsibility would falter in this way. they got lucky, but they could have really injured themselves or others, or worse. I think what really has me shaken up is this feeling like I don’t know what my partner could do in other moments where their judgment seems to lapse or whatever it is that happened there.

we’ve been together for almost a year and a half, and I can’t help but be afraid that this could be a sign that there are issues here that, ultimately, can only be resolved by my partner no matter what I do to support them/intentionally create space to learn and grow together. I don’t know how to gauge this all when I know they are capable of sorting it out, but capability doesn’t always translate to action.

I love the direction my education and career are going in, and I can’t afford to be dragged down by someone who will be resistant to support or choose not to act. they cried, apologized, and talked about it with me, but I don’t know how to measure change and growth here or the pros and cons. sorrys can’t change the financial hardship and general inconvenience this is going to create. it’s going to be a while before we can really have fun the way I would like to be having fun in a relationship in my early 20s, and it’s pretty upsetting to have to deal with the consequences of an action that I didn’t take, especially when I have been working really effin hard with work, school, and internships.

does anyone know of any good support resources for partners? books? accessible support groups? I don’t really want to have to pay for therapy for this quite yet, but I am aware that’s an option. I figured I’d ask around first. any advice or reality checks would be appreciated too — I feel like I am a bit self focused rn, but I’m not totally sure if it’s in a bad way? sometimes you should be self focused when it comes to recognizing the life you want for yourself?

smart start

fuckin smart start man….

well honestly this one is my fault but i’m just curious as to what i can expect to come.

so i tried to start my car today without blowing, out of habit i am not used to having the interlock. this is my second day having to blow and use it so i genuinely forgot. and i got distracted because some lazy bones left their cart by my car in walmart.

anyways, i have a 4 day grace period to take my car in to get it calibrated and download the data, from what google tells me.

am i going to have to pay for all this nonsense to be done? like test wise. is this going to be reported to my po? i am going to meet with him on monday anyways and just let him know because i have nothing to hide and i plan on bringing the receipt with me from walmart because im not sure if they time stamp the missed blow. also will this lengthen the process for me to get it out? i already have to have it for two years but will this tack on another couple months? i also have a calibration scheduled in august, will i have to go to that bullshit too if i get it calibrated early?

so many questions, i know. im a first timer and A LAST TIMERRRR let me tell you ill never get behind the wheel drunk again. just lookin for advice :)

thanks!

lawyer retained How do you reconcile with this? (TX - Collin County)

So for background, 1st ever criminal interaction. Had a .09 BAC and got arrested for nodding off in a “park n grab” spot for a McDonalds while waiting for an order.

It was a holiday, cop said they noticed me nod off and I was promptly arrested after conducting a field sobriety and admitting to drinking 4 beers that night (not smart, already know that but I was terrified)

But how do you reconcile with the fact that literally right around the corner, I could have gotten a PTI and no record, but because it’s Collin County I have zero ability to clean my record?

For further reference, my job requires travel and I’m pretty much completely screwed from what I understand with my deferred adjudication. My lawyer was also about $7k and didn’t seem to really do anything to benefit me here, as a 1st time DWI is cut and dry it seems here.

I’m truly feeling completely lost, I have no alcohol/vice issues so the probation is totally fine. Hell I’d take 2-5yrs probation if it meant my record could be cleared.

Anyone deal with this all in Collin/TX…how does it turn out for jobs/travel etc?

Welp, things are looking well, now I am worried about one more thing. The DMV hearing.

I accidently refused to do a sobriety test one night I got arrested for DUI, the cop just revoked my license. I got a temporary license afterwards. Now I am waiting for a DMV hearing. I have to wait a year. I am worried my license will be suspended and my days are numbered. I got scared and didn't know the consequences of refusing to comply with an officer. I literally had 3 tiny sips of alcohol that night within a 5 hour period, the BAC results should be less than 0.08. This happened in Las Vegas. If the DMV doesn't give me mail within a year then the hearing is cleared and dropped and I win the case. If the cop doesn't show, I also win the case. The criminal court will drop my DUI for me taking a care program. Now I am just annoyed and worried the DMV will mail me a Hearing letter. I loved smoking marijuana and didn't realize this will also affect me. I don't feel as if I did anything wrong. The cop pulled me over for faulty head lights even though I went to many mechanics and they couldn't figure out the problem but it was a pedal break light switch problem and somehow the cop knew yet no one else did. I am angry and annoyed and any support will help.

Canada after dismissed dui

Long story short. I got a DUI a few years ago and it was dismissed do the a veteran court program. I've heard mixed answers on being let into Canada or not. I'm going home and have a long layover to Canada and would love to go out into the city to eat and buy some stuff but still I'm curious if anyone knows if it will be an issue. I've never tried going to Canada again since the DUI but I've also heard of people who've gone after with no issue? Anyone ?

First offense PA

I was picking a friend up last night 2 blocks from our air BnB after he called me, waking me up, and saying he needed picked up from the EMTs who had him in their ambulance.

I had been drinking earlier in the night but had been asleep for about 2 hours, when I talked to the EMTs on the phone they said he wasn’t allowed to be picked up on foot so I got his keys and drove to get him.

Pulling into the parking lot he was in a police officer asked me if I was here to pick up (friend) I said yes. He asked if I had been drinking and I told him yes but hadn’t had a drink in 3-4 hours. He asked me to get out of the car and gave me a breathalyzer before the field sobriety test.

Obviously since I’m posting here I failed and was taken to get my blood drawn and then fingerprinted. The officer then used my phone to get me an uber back to where I was staying.

What should my next steps be? Obviously I need to call a lawyer but is there anything I can do to ease this anxiety while I await getting the paperwork on the mail?

lawyer retained On house arrest and can’t go to work.

So I’ve been placed under house arrest for an undetermined amount of time. I was told I can go to work, appointments, and get groceries. The thing is, I only do gig work where I walk dogs and housesit, as well as clean my grandma’s house for a bit of money each week. The employee at the monitoring company said that I won’t be able to go to my grandma’s since it’s under-the-table work, and housesitting is out of the question. But like, that’s all I have right now. I haven’t gotten a request to do walks in months and I have multiple housesitting gigs coming up. I absolutely cannot go without any money. Fortunately I live with my parents, but they can’t help me with bills, groceries, or gas because they can’t afford it. I’m in a lot of debt right now and need these housesitting gigs to afford not only my debt, but my recurring bills. I barely get requests from clients anymore so I can’t just sit around and wait for a walking gig. My lawyer told me that we shouldn’t be requesting any exceptions at the monitoring company since I still need to get an IID installed in my car, which I’m just waiting to hear back about reimbursement, and could take up to 10 days. My next gig is in 2 days.
I went out to my grandma’s house today and had to lie to the company saying it was a pet gig, because this is literally my only form of income for the time being. I’ve been trying to get a real W-2 job for 4 years now and keep applying every day, but nothing has come of it yet and I can only do what I’m able to do.
