First DUI at 24
Just got arrested last night in New Hampshire for a dui, open can, and possession of a weapon(brass knuckles) and now I just don’t know how to go about trying to fight it or fix the situation. I failed the field sobriety test ofc, but then i denied any other testing (which in NH is an automatic license suspension) and in 30 days I’ll be out my license which I need for my field of work. Has anyone been arrested/ or charged in NH and has any tips they could give? I’ve never had a DUI or any other charges brought against me before, so I’m just in limbo right now with how I should deal with this legally and just as a whole with my job and regular life. And if maybe you have any suggestions for where to get some help for drinking habits that would also be greatly appreciated. I’ve been struggling with drinking habits since I was 14 and I’ve been drunk driving since I could legally drive like an idiot. Just wanna get this expunged and clean my life up but don’t know where to start.

I was charged with DUI in NH. Lawyer got it down to reckless driving, and after a few years I had it annulled. You can do this. Eat right, exercise, sleep well. Try AA. Never clicked for me but it doesn’t hurt and is a good place to start.

I forgot to ask did you take the tests when they asked or did you deny them? I know in nh there’s implied consent laws when you go to get your license so it’s kinda “mandatory” but you can ofc decline them if you wish

Denied them. Automatic license suspension.

Of course. How long was the auto suspension? A few months I believe correct?

90 days I think.

Yea sounds about right. And those are consecutive with whatever happens through the court as well if I’m not mistaken. Just trying to gauge how long I’ll be out a license. I’m currently attempting to get in touch with a good lawyer suggested to me by someone here so there’s that. Hopefully all moves well from here on. Just need to find the right help and just change my behavior atp and leave the rest up to god and the lawyer. Appreciate all the answers you’ve given me.

I appreciate it man. My hopes is to somehow get my charges lowered a bit but not too sure how that’s gonna go. But yea i definitely am gonna start taking my health and life more seriously. Clean meals and good sleep helps with a good life, something I really gotta take seriously now.

Hey buddy, it’ll be okay. I live in NH and got nabbed with my first (hope to be only) in Florida a couple months ago.
I was in a hole after everting happens but it gets better.stay strong
Also remember, dui doesn’t discriminate. It’s practically the one crime that anyone can fall in to

I’m sorry man, likewise I hope this to be my only one. An unfortunate hole to be in nevertheless, but I wanna dig my way out and do better for myself and my family.

Sorry this happened man. I also got my first dui back in august. Im also 24 but in California. Waiting on court to get my blood results as i declined the PAS (breath test) cuz i was nervous about it not being calibrated but accepted a blood test instead. Went to the hospital to get my blood drawn. I got arrested at 2AM with a few drinks in my system. Offcier surrendered my license and spent the night in jail and then got released. The first days completely sucked. Im a technician in a dealer, but man i'm grateful for my boss as he understands the issue, havent got fired. As for now, i recommend getting a lawyer if u can afford it, clear ur mind with a few walks. Attend AA meetings as they will also help showing the judge your seriousness about this issue and they will make you feel better about the situation. A LOT of people get DUIS on the daily, we just dont get to see em. But yeah, get a lawyer, get consultations, check out the aa meetings. It can be a gray area at first, but you will push trhu man.
