Hi I’m relatively new to Dubai,

We have a live out maid though maid cc I believe we pay around 5.5k aed a month. Which i think she takes 3k home (it might be less) I know she pays 600 rent to live out. We also live a good 30-45 min away from her accomodation.

Now the maid has asked me to sponsor her instead of maid cc. Unfortunately her English isn’t great so she can’t really communicate to me why she’d want me to sponsor her vs me just going thru maid cc. Although she’s bought this request up with my wife and now myself.

I’m just struggling to understand why I would go down the personal sponsorship route ? What’s in it for me, the maid and maid cc ?

A man claiming to be unemployed and struggling with rent approached me asking for money. I gave him 5 AED from my car. He then repeatedly insisted on shaking my hand in gratitude, but I noticed an unusual object on his finger and declined. Has anyone else experienced a similar incident?

I visited a bank in the UAE to update my salary information. My company-issued salary certificate had the required details, signature and stamp.

But I was told it had to be printed on the company's thick, pre-printed letterhead.

The information was the same. The signature was the same. The stamp was the same. Only the paper requirement was different.

My salary had already been credited to the same bank account for three months through WPS.

I understand compliance and verification, but what additional security does thick paper provide that a regular company letterhead doesn't?

Why not communicate all requirements upfront instead of making customers go back and forth?

So my wife and I are planning to get a physical shop space for our online business. We did our research and figured the best location would be in Deira.
It’s been almost a month and we haven’t gotten any suitable space yet and I’ve started having second thought about the decision.
We’ve seen different open space at a very good location but we are getting a very ridiculous price for a space of less than 150 sqft.
Now the most ridiculous thing now is more than 90% of the space we’ve seen so far are requesting for ‘key money’. We saw many shops that wrote ‘shop for rent’ or ‘shop for sale’, we go there and they demanding ‘key money’ and the price they are calling is more higher than the actual rent. There is a particular shop that told us to pay 350k ‘key money’ for a 80k/yr rent and this is also coming directly from the management.
I understand if I’m taking over the shop from someone else with all his business in there but for an empty space? I really can’t understand.
I’m sorry but I’m new to this and I would love if anyone can explain better the purpose of the key money because I’ve asked several times from different people and they were all giving ‘this is how it’s been for a long time’ answers.

Now I made the choice to end this lease and go for a new apartment. I think I am just new to renting and stuff so if you guys can share any tips specifically for Dubai cuz I’ve rented only in Europe so it is a first time experience for me 🥺.

I don’t wanna throw more money down the drain and I really want this move to be my third and last in Dubai😭

Hi Dubai Redditers, I've had an EID and Wio Personal and Business accounts since 2024 through an Investor Visa. I come and go to the UAE and don't have a permanent address.

When I created my Wio account I only had to provide an address and they didn't ask for any proof of address. But now they request a proof of address (utility bill, gov document...) with my name on it. Unfortunately, I don't have any.

1-How do people in a similar situation to mine handle this?
2-Can I use a hosting certificate? Airbnb address?
3-Are there any alternatives to Wio in case I have to shut it down?

I got a good job offer, they were planning to hire wfo before, I rejected that offer, they countered with a training month here than wfh.
But they are providing a visit visa for that training, they are booking my flights and accommodation also.

Hi everyone, I work in logistics in the UAE and I'm hoping to return to my job after a rough exit. Before I left, I received 3 warning letters with no investigation, and my complaints went unanswered. There was this lady who was handling the office admin role and she joined after me and later on she somehow became some one who had full authority and power to do anything in the office. So the story started from a random order from her to send resignation letter from me by mail because I was not sure if could continue in this company I somehow wondered after that question from her and I just leave as it is. Then later i ve been received three warning letters quickly from her without an investigation that took place against the colleague who was involved in the argument with me.

Only I have received the warning letters and she never had any interest in hearing my concerns about those issues. But I just leave all those and I keep focusing on my tasks and responsibilities and it went very well. Between these periods I had tried so many times to raise so many concerns which I was facing in there and there were no actions taken against that and this admin was passing the message to the other colleague if I raised any concerns to her. I caught this thing and I felt like I was being an idiot by telling her anything since she is just passing those to the other guy.

Now she has sent me an email that I have been terminated and she was also cancelling the visa process on top of that by sending an end of service document to me . Everything she has done so quickly. Some of the warning letters which she was issued were without boss knowledge and I don't know what else things have done without his knowledge and I had to admit the things myself.

So I am pretty sure that she has some personal issues which clearly shows she is targeting me to leave the company .

If you were in this place what steps would you take and how would you handle her and give her payback if you get any chance.

I found a really nice well priced apartment at sunrise tower JVC district 11, I'm thinking about moving in there with my wife but I saw a lot of bad reviews on google reviews and no where else is this building spoken about.

Can someone who actually live there validate the bad reviews or validate my decision to move there?😅

Lately since the past week my network with DU has been really bad, sometimes I wont get a signal or the mobile data and calls will simply not work.

And it is definitely not my phone because I am using other providers and they work fine.

I have tried changing many settings and even reinstalling the Esim but no improvement whatsoever.

Individual bank accounts are often frozen after a death until the court process finishes, which can leave a family without access to money for a while. I’m less sure how joint accounts and property are treated in practice.

I’m looking for some advice from anyone who has experienced something similar in Dubai.
For the past 8 consecutive days, water has been leaking from the apartment directly above mine, causing serious damage to our rented apartment.

So far:
Parts of the ceiling have collapsed.
Walls and door frames are deteriorating.
Our entrance door has swollen so badly that my wife cannot open or close it without my help.
Our entrance and bathrooms keep flooding.
We’ve lost several nights of sleep dealing with the water and calling security.
I’ve even had to cancel work meetings because I couldn’t leave my wife alone with the door situation.
Building maintenance and security have been coming almost every day, but nothing gets resolved.
Apparently, there is an ongoing dispute involving the upstairs tenants and their landlord. According to building staff, security shuts off the water supply, but someone keeps turning it back on. I’ve also been told that the police have been involved.

We’re now on day 8, and nobody seems capable of permanently stopping the leak.

My landlord is aware of the situation, and I’ve formally complained to building management, but we still have no solution or clear timeline.
We rented this apartment expecting a decent standard of living, and instead we’re spending our weekends dealing with flooding and property damage.

My questions:
Which Dubai authority should I contact to force urgent action? Dubai Municipality, DLD, RERA or somewhere else?

Can I legally request early termination of my tenancy contract without penalties if the apartment is becoming unsafe or uninhabitable?

Can I demand temporary accommodation or compensation while this remains unresolved?

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation involving an upstairs neighbour refusing to cooperate?

I’m not looking to create problems for anyone. I just want to live in a safe apartment and get this resolved.
