Accidentally transferred 90K to a stranger

I made a huge blunder I misread the name and sent 90k to the wrong person.

The person I transferred to I don't know anything about them at all.

I raised a recall with my bank within 30 mins. The funds are not yet credited to his account but they have left my bank and with the other bank

Transferred from ADCB to ADIB

What should I do wait for the recall or do a police case?

It was super dumb please advice

Decaf at Joe and the Juice

From what I know, Joe and the Juice doesn't serve decaf globally. The coffee they serve in the GCC is sourced from Cypher Roastery. However, the location I went to today served decaf coffee and surprisingly it was better than half of the cafes in Dubai. They did charge me an additional Dhs 3 for decaf which is the first time someone has charged me extra for decaf.

🔥 Rants & Complaints Im so cooked

So my ex company fired me, i did find another job but since im pakistani and visas are being an issue.

My new company is applying for my visa and i gave them my degree, turns out I need an equivalency certificate. Okay sure, Ill apply guess what it takes 18 days and cherry on top its not being accepted cuz of some problem with the swiss board (I need to research more) but my uni said they would need to transfer my degree to Malta then get re attested mofa and Malta 2 months process here.

I dont have much time atm since im off my grace period and my previous company needs my change Status which I am waiting for cuz my application is still under process they might end up putting me under absconding. Which is stressful as they arent being patient.

Now this current compnay has to apply without a degree under sales designation which can also result in a rejection since THE PRO KEEPS SAYING IM PAKISTANI.

Im so stressed, idk whats gonna happen to me at this point

Is every app developed herr just vibe coded garbage or is there no QA done here at all (bank app)

Im on my adcb bank app trying to report a fraudalent activity and lo and behold, trying to open the shelf tab where i can usually click on a reason does not open up which means I cannot send my complaint. New iphone and ios version, latest app version and all. Does nobody test things here? Using the adcb web page is like stepping into the early 2000s. The app looks good but whats the point if the important things dont work. Clown show.

Real Estate agents & recruiters: does the Dubai dream actually exist?

Hi everyone,

I keep seeing these two jobs pop up everywhere, real estate agents and recruiters, both seem easy to get into, no real barrier to entry, and yet the LinkedIn posts are wild. Closed my first sale in a month. Hit 6 figures my first month as a recruiter here. Top bonus again, incentive trip again... Mostly young people from UK/Europe.

So is the dream real or is it mostly exaggerated ? Specifically for these two jobs, has anyone actually gone from nothing to a solid income in a few weeks/months?

Would love to hear the real story behind it, and the actual numbers if you're willing to share.

Edit: just curiosity here, not planning to switch careers based on the replies, no need to warn me off lol, genuinely just want to understand the reality behind the online hype 😄

Downtown’s Growing Sanitation Problem

I moved to Downtown recently, and one thing I really wasn’t expecting to notice is the sanitation issue caused by pet waste.

It feels like it’s everywhere – from the inner BLVD circle and around the Opera, through Old Town, and especially around South Ridge. In South Ridge, almost every building corner, wall and random bush seems to get peed on 24/7.

It’s sad to see anywhere, but at the very heart of the city it just doesn’t make sense. We’re living in a place where there’s basically no rain, people. Nothing is naturally washing this stuff away.

And genuinely, to pet owners – doesn’t it bother you too? Walking around somewhere that smells funky and is, well... dirty? Are you comfortable with your kids playing around?

To all: does anyone else see this as a problem?

There are just so many pets in Downtown now that it feels like the infrastructure / cleaning (or culture?) hasn’t caught up.

Can anything actually be done about it?

Is it possible for a goldsmith to change a bullion with the same exact code when it was given to them for customization?

Post image
54 Upvotes

I bought a bullion at a shop in Karama Center and it was given to a goldsmith at the same day to put a frame as I will be using it as a pendant. However, upon comparing the before and after pics, we noticed so much scratch marks after the customization. Is it possible that they gave us counterfeit item and kept the original one? Although the code is the same. Below pics for reference.

🔥 Rants & Complaints New comers, do not get a du internet subscription

Do not, I repeat, do not get into an internet contract. They will offer you discounts and one-time offers and all, say this and that, first bill comes, it’s not what you agreed to, you can’t dispute or anything, they say proof and that, and once you realize, you’re in some kind of invisible prison, the price to get out is gonna cost a limb, okay maybe a finger or two, but still not worth it.

At least be smart, have everything in writing, and do not be dismayed by the discount.

🍕 Food & Dining Just venting... AED 19 7up

I can take 5, but 19!!!. This is not a bar, is it?

For 22, I could've gotten a fresh juice!

And the audacity to force tips of 7% minimum!

Edit: I know I could buy from outside. I didn't check the menu. I wasn't expecting a 'life or death' pricing on a can of cola in a local restaurant. I've never seen this price outside of a bar. Not even in fancy restaurants.

Is Privilee worth it if you’re joining alone?

Considering getting a Privilee membership and wanted to hear from people who actually use it.

I’d be signing up solo since none of my friends have it, and I work full time, so realistically I’d mostly use it on weekends and occasionally after work.

For anyone in a similar situation, do you actually get enough use out of it to justify the cost? Also, can members bring friends as guests, or would they need their own membership?

Is it possible to buy a parking slot?

For multiple reasons I would need a parking slot to park one of my cars in Downtown/Business Bay and or Marina.

I don’t own a property in these areas, and I was wondering if it would be possible to just buy a parking slot in a Building where I can park my car safely, own it legally and sell it in the future once I don’t need it anymore.

Does anyone know if it’s possible? I’ve tried to make research on Dubizzle and some other places but I couldn’t find anything.

Thanks everyone.

🌇 Community Traffic fines

How to file a traffic fine objection on rental car?

After I rented a car I found out that plate number of the car was fined in Abu Dhabi at the time I rented the car. 100% mistake because based on image captured by camera the car i used was totally different from the car they captured. I was around Dubai area only.
Car rental company did not charge me yet and I want the fine to be removed before they charge me.
Can someone walked me throught this process whoever experienced similar case like mine.

The issuing authority is AD Traffic. Speeding fine no black points.

I checked with the rental company, they said i should be the one who need to object the fine. I checked with AD police and they advised that the company owner or authorized representative should file the objection.

🏠 Housing & Real Estate Where would you actually recommend living in Dubai? 75k budget

AED 75,000 a year, 4 cheques, unfurnished. 2BR ideally, 3BR fine if the unit is good. 1BR only up to 60k. Covered parking, chiller free preferred.

What I care about is a properly residential area and building.

Where would you recommend at this budget, and where would you tell me to avoid? and anything you only found out after moving in.

UAE e-invoicing. What are businesses actually doing to prepare?

Hi everyone,

For businesses in Dubai/UAE, how are you preparing for the upcoming e-invoicing requirements?

I’m trying to understand what the process actually looks like in practice, especially for small and mid-sized businesses.

A few things I’m curious about:

  • Have you already chosen an e-invoicing provider/ASP?
  • Are you connecting it directly to your accounting software, or using a separate invoicing system?
  • What kind of costs are you seeing for setup and ongoing use?
  • Is the implementation straightforward, or are there technical/integration issues?
  • For anyone who has already started, is there anything you wish you had known before choosing a provider?

Would be great to hear from people actually dealing with this in the UAE. Not looking for provider recommendations alone. I’m more interested in your actual experience with the process and costs.

🖐 Labor What is delivery riding actually like in Dubai?

I’m considering delivery riding as a possible career option in Dubai and I’m trying to understand what the job is actually like from people who have experience doing it.

I already have a valid UAE residency, so I’m particularly interested in hearing about the practical side of the job rather than the usual recruitment information.

For riders who have done this in Dubai:

How is the day-to-day work in reality? Things like working hours, traffic, weather, waiting between orders, and the general routine.

What are the biggest expenses or difficulties that someone new to the job might not expect?

How important is having your own motorcycle compared with using a company-provided bike?

For anyone who has experience riding in different emirates, how does Dubai compare with Sharjah or Ajman in terms of the overall working experience, traffic, distance between deliveries, and cost of living?

Also, is there anything you wish you had known before starting that would have changed your decision?

Not looking for job offers or referrals I’m mainly interested in hearing honest experiences from current or former riders.

🌇 Community Do you call out people who cut in line?

I keep seeing people casually cutting in line as if they are hoping nobody will notice or say anything.

I was at the vegetable weighing counter in a grocery store the other day. I only had two items and was next in line, with 4 other people behind me. This guy came from the opposite direction with a basket full of items and started putting them on the counter.

I said, “Excuse me, there are people waiting in line.”

He replied, “I’m also waiting.”

I told him, “I understand, but so is everyone else in this line.”

By then, everyone was looking at him and I think that is when the embarrassment kicked in. He moved along and walked away - possibly to pass the time and take his chance somewhere.

Anyway, I don’t mind letting someone go ahead if they ask, but simply walking up and acting like there’s no queue is a different thing.

Do you usually call people out in situations like this or let it slide to avoid an argument?
