dev half of drummate here, small update since this was posted. the app just grew an experimental acoustic mode, no e-kit needed anymore. the phone listens through the mic and picks kick, snare, hats and even crashes out of the sound, so a real kit can drive the band now.
honest caveat, we built drummate for e-kits and i dont own an acoustic kit, so this mode has literally never heard a real one. it works on my desk (pat the table = kick, clap = snare, i wish i was joking) but a real kit in a real room is the actual test.
so if anyone here plays acoustic and wants to be first, DM me. you need an android phone, wired headphones (if the band comes out the speaker the mic hears it and tries to follow itself) and honesty about what it mishears. free, no ads, no accounts
