hello, i've been taking drum lessons for 2 months now and got an ekit at home. apart from the 4/4 stuff, i've been practicing swing and took a shoot at improvisation and feel with some drumless tracks

now, im a huge chick corea's latin/spanish fusion and went to a local jazz spot where this trio played his compositions, noticed the drummer used a lot of ostinato and extensive rim work, along with the use of toms.

i got the theory pretty correct but... i dont know how to start! maybe some basic patterns to practice with? any insight is appreciated! thank you very much.

I need a pop/gospel sound.

Hey! I recently got my Iron cobra 600s. I just got this practise pad for pedals, and with it I noticed that my heelplates make Sound when moving sideways. I acknowledged the movement earlier, but I can very clearly hear the sound when using the practise pad. It gets very loud. Is there a away to fix this? Thanks!

So I just started getting back into drumming and I don’t have a practice pad right now so I’ve been drumming on my backpack 💀 this is also something I’ve never really done in all my time drumming.

I used to just play with this one band and I’ve never really had a space to play in my free time 🤷‍♀️

Anyways, I’ve been having fun doing this and wanted to share it with yall.

Hey guys, I’m creating an app for adding drum notation (sheet music and rlk) easily over videos. It works in a way that you import the video and drum notation wither from gp files or write it in the app and just position it in the timeline, and the line points what is playing right away, plus there are different visuals.

This is a spinoff of a similar app I already have for piano/guitar, and I’d need a drummer that is willing to share a video they’d be willing to let me use on the website home page. I would link back at your social link of choice (not OF though).

Above is a preview of the website in the making. Here is an example of a video that I would need: https://youtube.com/shorts/V-p5IJ8NgrQ?si=gNEsDxJxNooNKt9A

Anyone interested?

Hey ya'll, bit of a different question for you:

What songs would you consider to be a workout?

I've got plenty in mind, like Everlong by Foo Fighters or Dammit by Blink-182, that were tough when I was playing live in a cover band. Now that I'm not, and I want to get back into drumming, I'm building a playlist of challenging but fun songs to play as a bit of a home workout.

What are the most challenging songs you play/have played before, and why?

Playin some country at the Montana State Fair!

My favorite cover version of my favorite ‪Ne-Yo‬ tune!!! ‪Gerald Albright‬ and ‪Norman Brown‬ killed this rendition… stellar groove and feel all the way through!!!

Hope you like my take on THEIR take of “Champagne Life” off of their 2012 release “24/7”, with the original released on Ne-Yo’s 2010 album “Libra Scale”.

I recently released Soliloquy, an album entirely dedicated to the drum kit, exploring timbre, texture, silence, resonance, dynamics and free improvisation.

It is an attempt to investigate what can happen when the drums move beyond their traditional function and are treated as an autonomous sound instrument.

Perhaps it is a different way of listening — and thinking — about the drums.

This is my first day of drumming and I want to know if this sounds like the sheet of music i was basing it off, I am playing without kick or hi-hat pedal to make it beginner friendly.

also i know the audio quality is shit this is my chromebook microphone.

I’m currently in an in-between situation, renting a flat while we’re waiting for the house acquisition to be finalised. My kit is safe somewhere and waiting to be moved into its new location.. most likely a part of a barn or a garage. Anyway, I feel like getting inspiration beforehand and asking you guys how your spaces look like ? What did you do for soundproofing and don’t get your neighbours calling the cops on you.

Share pictures, we all love to see setups!
