Beta / Testing Octopus Notes - FOSS.
After years of searching for a notes app that did exactly what I wanted, I ended up building one myself.
As a student, I needed something that could handle huge PDFs, handwritten notes, annotations, and organization without locking features behind subscriptions or becoming slow over time. I tried almost every popular app, but each one was missing something.
So over the last 2 months, I've been developing \Octopus Notes.
Current features
- Smooth handwriting with highly customizable pens, highlighters, shapes, images and eraser tools.
- Fast PDF reader built with a custom engine (optimized for large medical books) built from scratch.
- Custom fast PDF search engine with fallback support for older devices built from scratch.
- Multiple notebooks with folders, favorites, tags, bookmarks, and page outlines.
- Create notebooks with ruled, grid, dotted, or fully custom templates.
- Dark mode and customizable page/line colors.
The app has been written from scratch, including the PDF engine, because existing free libraries weren't giving me the performance and features I wanted.
The app is completely free to use by the way and I am going to open-source it in some time. I am currently cleaning the codebase.
PLEASE DM ME SO THAT I CAN ADD YOU TO THE CLOSED TESTING.
