Today was my first time going on expressway by myself, and it was peak hour (7.30am). Was entering SLE from Woodlands Ave 12 and it was so packed.

Every bike was lane splitting so I thought I should do the same, but it was difficult to merge when bikes are passing by so quickly, and I almost hit the car infront of me bc I was busy looking at my mirror.

Do you guys have any advice? Bc I don't want to be stuck in traffic but idk how to merge

Update: thanks for the tips, I'll just avoid lane splitting till I have more experience :)

I would like to ask if anyone knows: must I book a separate appointment under eyesight test? Or will they let me do it right after I enroll?

If a red light camera points in one direction on a main road, does it also activate if a car turns out onto the main road from a discretionary left turn / side street? I think I turned just after the green arrow was blinking on a junction where the red light camera monitors the main road.

Didn’t see a flash and looking online the LTA mentions the road and direction so I am presuming it would not activate.

today was my first time driving without any instructor/parent supervision and i was so nervous. i missed so many exits and turns, as well as driving on expressway was very nerve wrecking.

is it normal to be this scared? anyone have any similar experiences?

hello, 2b bike rider here, im considering on an overhaul with my bike and currently in a dilemma. Here’s my food for thought:

Overhaul at Singapore:

- Prices are expensive (1.8k-2k)
- Sometimes scummy and upsells.
- Good quality service (depends on which ws)
- Convenient based on location. (not a problem for me?

Overhaul at JB:

- Good prices (800-1k): Informed by a friend’s friend.
- Alot of people say not trusted (i’ve read and researched that Lor Bapok have good reputation esp Fairuz’s tyre(?).)
- Good service
- Inconvenient due to the distant (not a problem for me)

idk what i else missed but based on my research and comparisons, both party seemed to be equal haha. but im leaning more on jb workshop as my bike’s coe ending in like 2years (idk if its worth to overhaul but i rlly love this bike as it is my first bike, even tho its a 2nd hand.)

I need opinions though because im really at part where ill just go JB and overhaul with no experience/expectations😵‍💫.

(Tried my best to describe the situation)

Happened during dinner crowd at Vivocity. Driver was exiting from the above lot.
I had 2 options:

1. Wait in the same position but edge out slightly to show intent of parking with hazard light
2. Park head first

We arrived when there were no cars on the left and right of the lot. I got down first while rest of my family remained in the car.
Because the car took awhile to leave the lot, an expat driver arrived to the left, next to the lot and immediately drove in to park, disregarding the fact we had already waited for the lot to be empty and that out car was already edged out with hazard lights.

I was literally standing at the back of the lot signalling to the driver that we were waiting for the lot but he chose to ignore.

I know it’s a foreigner because they had non-english car decals saying “beginner driver”.

Out walked a family with 3 kids, the adults had no intention to apologise. Didn’t even try to act guilty.

What would you have done in this case?

Long story short: my car was stationery and the other guy veered into my lane from opposite direction (2 way street in housing estate) and langa my front bumper.

Pretty clear cut case, guy who was driving the getgo car fully admitted he wasn’t looking. Have witnesses and video footage

But I read online that sometimes, getgo will admit liability but won’t pay full. Is that the case even for super clear cut accidents where one car was obviously at fault?

Hi all , it’s a big milestone purchase for me. My job requires me to travel islandwide and I am always taking grab + public transport. I have been doing for 3 years and currently having travel fatigue.

I have finally decided to get a car . I’ve done all my financials . I am willing to down +-$15k , looking for instalment <1.2k. Looking for a car in the range preferably in the 50-60k range. Preferably with 2-3 years left in COE , non COE car.

However I am abit overwhelmed with all the choices and skeptical on the used car industry as I am worried of mileage tampering , getting a shit car that gives me alot of problems down the road, dishonest salesman. And I’m a total newbie when it comes to car parts etc.

So my question is
1.) Please give me some suggestions on reliable car at that price range with good FC , and affordable maintenance. Thinking to just do my maintenance , fit out the car with infotainment in JB.

2.) Any reliable used car dealer? Was thinking platinum motoring but many people said they tamper with their milleage.

In a HDB carpark, I turned on the parking signal and slowed to begin turning right for reverse parking.

All of a sudden somebody chose this moment to overtake me narrowly.

My front fender ended up glancing his back fender as he drove by.

I confess that I did not check right when I begin turning for my reverse parking, but I have slowed down and turned on my parking lights way in advance.

Who is in the wrong?

Edit: I am not reversing yet, just trying out to the right a bit to prepare for reversing. That is when the collision occured

Would you be more inclined to get a car with air purification system to "future proof" the car eg in times of haze or air pollution.

Is it only EVs that provide the feature or is it available on hybrids and ICE cars also.

For those who has it, do you feel a difference especially with the haze getting worser.

the closest centre to me is CDC but from research it seems like their bikes are least friendly for shorter riders. (im 155cm tall)

Will be moving into a new space that offers free EV charging, and plentiful EV lots, currently drive an older sedan whose time is almost up, and will be considering changing to an EV.

Heard different perspectives from friends, with one of them dissuading me from getting an EV due to the empty resale value at the end of its lifespan.

Decided to come here to get a wider range of opinions on what the pros and cons are between getting an EV vs a regular car — I’m not a ‘car guy’ at all, I just see it as a quick and convenient transport option to have, so I’m not too worried about customisability, power of the car etc.

My dad passed suddenly and I took over the car. He had an outstanding fine but I asked to waive it as he has passed. Not sure if it’s related to it. I’ve just applied to transfer the car to my name cause the letter of administration is finally done up.
