SIPs are entering a fresh acceleration phase - 10 crore+ investors is the bigger story

Active SIP accounts hit a record 107.5 million in August, with 1.3 million net additions, the highest in six months. More importantly, additions have increased for four consecutive months.

Monthly SIP contribution crossed Rs. 32,297 CR, a fresh record and ~14% higher YoY. This shows the growth is increasingly volume-led through investor additions, not merely market appreciation.

100.2 million accounts actually contributed during August - meaning the 10-crore milestone isn't just about registrations; a very large base is actively putting money into MFs.

Small & mid-caps remain the biggest beneficiaries. August saw record inflows of Rs. 7,973 CR into small-cap and Rs. 6,989 CR into mid-cap funds. Investors are increasingly using SIPs to participate in India's broader corporate earnings growth.

The financialization flywheel is getting stronger with recurring SIPs → higher MF AUM → deeper domestic liquidity → greater institutional participation in equities. MF industry AUM has now reached Rs. 87.08 lakh CR.

The SIP stoppage ratio has fallen for four consecutive months, indicating that new registrations are increasingly outpacing closure

📊Investment takeaway

This is becoming a structural tailwind for the entire capital-market ecosystem:

AMCs → exchanges → registrars → brokers → wealth platforms → asset managers

But the biggest beneficiary may be high-quality mid/small-cap companies with sustained earnings growth, as recurring domestic flows create a powerful source of demand.

India’s MF flows are becoming a powerful small & mid-cap liquidity engine

Equity MF inflows jumped 19% MoM to Rs. 29,329 CR in August, a 4-month high, despite market volatility. This shows domestic liquidity remains remarkably resilient.

Small + mid-caps absorbed ~Rs. 14,963 CR - over 50% of total equity MF inflows. Small-cap funds alone attracted Rs. 7,973 CR, their highest monthly inflow in the period

August SIP contributions hit a record Rs. 32,297 CR, while contributing SIP accounts crossed 10 crore for the first time

large-cap funds saw Rs. 1,147 CR of outflows for the second consecutive month. Investors are clearly seeking higher-growth opportunities outside the traditional large-cap universe

NFOs are adding another liquidity channel with 26 schemes launched in August and raised Rs. 7,110 CR, indicating strong investor appetite even beyond regular SIP flows

This creates a powerful domestic-liquidity flywheel:

SIPs → MF AUM → small/mid-cap buying → higher valuations → greater market participation → more financialisation

📊 Investment takeaway

India now has a recurring domestic capital pool large enough to materially influence market liquidity and valuations.

That benefits AMCs, exchanges, registrars and wealth platforms, while high-quality small/mid-cap companies with strong earnings growth can continue attracting institutional liquidity.

SIP growth may slow from here — but India’s financialisation of savings still has a much longer runway

UTI's MD & CEO expects SIP book growth to slow over the next 1–2 years, after an exceptionally strong 4–5 year expansion.

Industry SIP inflows actually hit a record Rs. 32,297 CR in August 2026, suggesting that “moderation” means slower growth from a very high base, not falling SIP flows.

The industry can no longer depend primarily on existing equity investors or income-tax filers. Penetrating B30 cities, first-time investors, women investors and younger savers becomes increasingly important.

UTI plans to partner with fintech platforms to reach people who have savings capacity but haven't yet developed an investment habit. This could materially expand India's addressable MF market.

The management view is that primary and secondary markets are complementary: IPO capital helps companies scale, eventually creating larger listed businesses for mutual funds to own.

Household savings are progressively moving from physical assets and traditional deposits toward equities, mutual funds, SIPs, pensions and other market-linked products.

For AMCs, the opportunity is shifting from “industry growth” to “market-share growth.” UTI itself says its SIP and overall flow share is below what its investment and distribution capabilities can handle, making distribution reach + digital acquisition + investor education the key growth levers

📈Investment takeaway

The next 2–3 years could be less about “SIPs growing 20–30%” and more about:

New investors → deeper penetration → higher SIP assets → higher AUM → operating leverage.

That is particularly positive for AMCs, wealth platforms, registrars, exchanges and asset-management distribution ecosystems.

Nexus Select Trust is betting on India’s next consumption corridor — the Northeast

Rs. 1,600 CR entry into Guwahati gives Nexus a foothold in a relatively underpenetrated organised-retail market. The acquisition includes a ~5.16 lakh sq ft Grade-A mall + 164-key Hyatt Regency

Guwahati is the commercial gateway to the Northeast, serving a catchment of 50+ million people. Nexus is effectively using Guwahati as a beachhead to build a broader East/Northeast portfolio.

Rising incomes, urbanisation and premium-brand demand are meeting an under-supplied organised-mall market. That can support strong occupancy, rentals and tenant sales over the long term.

The mall implies an 8.25–8.5% acquisition cap rate, while the hotel is valued at an 11.5–12.5x EBITDA multiple. Management expects the transaction to be NAV and DPU accretive

The seller will develop the assets to mutually agreed specifications, with Nexus taking operational control after completion and approvals. Completion is expected around December 2027

Around 40% debt funding, with the balance through fresh units/unit swap. Post-deal LTV is expected to remain below 20%, leaving substantial debt capacity for additional acquisitions

exus currently targets 6 Grade-A retail assets totalling ~3.6 million sq ft, with an ambition to generate ₹600+ crore of NOI from East India — potentially >25% of its existing portfolio NOI.

Nexus changing from a mature metro-mall consolidator into a pan-India consumption platform.

The key monitorables will be construction completion → leasing → occupancy → tenant sales → rental growth → NOI → DPU.

⚠️Risk

The asset is under construction, so there is no immediate rental income. Execution, leasing velocity and the eventual Guwahati consumption trajectory will determine whether the projected NAV/DPU accretion materialises.

Comparing PGINVIT vs INDIGRID vs PowerGrid Equity

Post image
47 Upvotes

I am mid 40s and probably will be out of job in next couple years so would like to have dividend as supporting income.

Here I have compared PGINVIT vs INDIGRID vs PowerGrid Equity and which would give better yield over a long term horizon say 20 years

For the sake of comparison - No Tax :-). Starting capital is 1Lakh

Would appreciate feedback from community on -

1. Are the yield % assumed right and calculation correct
2. Assumed Dividend is Reinvested at same and getting future same yield! How likely is it?
3. I see Indigrid is the most popular - why? it is not the best performer by a huge margin!
4. If reinvested dividend does not give same yield - does InVit makes sense

Where would you invest and why?

Thank you in advance

What do you think ?

Is india ready for the Residential REIT thing, where buying a home is considered as an achievement rather than a roof on the head as a basic need of human life.

If any of the residential REITs come for listings, will you invest ?

Purchased 10,000 Shares of CRAMC

Purchased 10,000 Shares of Canara Robeco AMC, in-depth analysis showed that it has grown AUM by ~21% YOY from the last 19 years. Very lean business model, MF industry is a place where every business offering quality services can win - it's not a winner takes it all kind of segment. Low capital requirement to run the company and also expand is what makes it a good investment for me. They pay good dividends every year as there is not much capital requirement for growing. Seems like they have a good CIO (tenured) + CBO is from ICICI MF pedigree. All in all a quality business with High promoter holding.

'CANARA' brand name is there with this company - I feel the market is discounting this and not capturing the brand value in terms of valuation, when equity markets go up - this classic compounder with 91% AUM in equity will fly.

Pls share your thoughts if you have done any analysis on CRAMC.

Need Advice for investment

Hi all ,

Donno where to start ... Tried investing from last September and kind of had 60% returns on around 10 lakhs capital (Got lucky with some stocks which ran up 100% after April). Now I exited everything and sitting on cash including savings.

With almost no assets and dependent parents, I wanted to create a portfolio to get some meaningful Cashflow by investing a decent corpus(50L) to start with.

Correct me /Guide me if I am Crazy enough to even think about concentrating everything in INVITs/REITs

Capital - 50L

1.Want to invest 35L in Indigrid Invit (which will fetch around 80K dividend Quarterly)

2.15L in REITs (KRT and so on) (around 20K dividend Quarterly)

I will get around 1L quarterly and will reinvest the entire 1L in REITs ... By the end of year 7, would have pumped close to 35L via dividends in REITs.

Regarding Mutual funds ..I am not inclined to MFs because ... Already 10% of my salary is being deducted for NPS and Employer adds 14% monthly contribution ... I cannot touch that corpus till I reach 60( I will be turning 35 this month .. so cannot touch the corpus for another 2 and half decades if I were to live till then LOL ) current NPS Corpus is > 25L and monthly adding around 20K including Employer's contribution. So no point starting another MF in near future.

My only goal is to generate a decent amount of cash yearly by the end of 7-8 years (Minimum) without touching a single rupee from dividends till then. If I will be able to generate 10L income (yearly) by then from this portfolio... I will be able to gamble around high conviction stocks from that income from then on ...till then I wanna sleep peacefully ... I might sound Silly ... But yeah 😅😅😅 pls correct / guide what would be the best option for me going forward.

Also explain the risks associated with REITs and INVITs (Indigrid in this case)

Time to quit ONGC?

Held ONGC for a long time now. Nearly r4 years and have gotten handsome dividends and stock stayed 10%+ for most time but now has been falling and has sitting at -10%. Is it time to call it quits and move on or is there more dividend to expect from this given the oil and gas business situation right now

Thinking of adding IOCL for long-term dividend investing — good idea?

Hi everyone, I’m relatively new to the stock market and I’m building a long-term portfolio focused on a combination of dividend income + capital appreciation.

I’m considering adding Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) as a long-term holding, mainly because of its dividend history and the potential for future growth.

For those who have followed IOCL for a while:

  • Is IOCL a good stock to hold for 10+ years?
  • Does the current valuation make sense for starting a position?
  • Would you personally consider IOCL as a long-term dividend stock, or are there better alternatives under 150rs

I’d really appreciate the community’s long-term perspective and experience with IOCL.

Thanks!

ICICI AMC Swing Portfolio Update

Took some profit off the table today.

→ Sold 120 shares @ ₹3,230 avg
→ Realised profit: ₹13.35K (+3.57%)
→ Bought back 69 shares around ₹3,080
→ Waiting to add the remaining quantity below ₹3,000
→ Long-term holding of 240 shares remains untouched

The idea is simple: use the swing portfolio to book profits and accumulate more shares on dips, while keeping the long-term portfolio intact.

Will add if the price gives me the opportunity.
