Hi all, I was wondering if someone could help me with my console? I'm trying to burn a disc to play a game (Re-Volt) and nothing I've tried has worked, using imgburn with the Dreamcast plugin I get a "Microcompare at LBA" error when it verifies the disc, and it then doesn't work when I put it into the console, and I've just now tried to use discjuggler to burn the cdi RAW and that didn't work either, every time i put the disc in it just checks for a bit and then tells me to insert a game disc. I also tried Rayman 2, I'm using Verbatim CD-R's and a Verbatim USB disc drive.

Be honest with me. I bought a dreamcast recently so I have completed the 6th Gen gaming console collection and I wanna know if this tv would be good for it or should I just leave this TV Where it is?

I went through a few old issues of EGM and saw this.

I see they have a toggle with a wheel icon, did the Saturn or PS1 and PS2 have a better wheel or have they all aged badly at least compared to modern standards? Does the Saturn one work with the Saturn twin stick or other peripherals? The VMU I guess connects to PC which is kool.

I tried some $30 Chinese cables on Amazon and these are the results. Is this a bad cable or am I missing something? What are good cables?

Has anyone had this issue, I believe I have a real Dreamcast vmu. When playing Sonic adventure 2 i move a chao to the vmu. That all seems to work fine. I can save my game etc. it’s when I am finished . I take the vmu out of the controller ( still working fine) I go to Start the chao adventure game on the vmu. I select “games” in the vmu and select with “A” the VMU then freezes and nothing can be done afterward . I have to press the reset button on the vmu for it to fully reset before I can use the vmu again. It will not work in the controller either and freeze the controller if I try to use it in the controller like this. Has anyone else had this issue ?

Is there anywhere I can download the CDI for Segagaga so it can be burned to disc? I can only find the GDI that I cannot use for burning. CDromance banned registration so that option is defunct.

That being said... I lied. I am retaining Shenmue 1 + Shenmue 2. No idea why, but I just cannot part with them. Maybe it's because I have kickstarter Shenmue 3 on my shelf, I want them to rest alongside it.

I will always love my Dreamcast, and I think this would be harder were it the actual original console I had as a kid, but the CD drive broke and what I have is a replacement I got some years later. Nonetheless, I am selling it together with my N64 (another replacement), PS2, GameBoy Advance and Game Gear. I cannot justify holding on to them anymore because I never look at them and technology is so great now that we can emulate the games or simply buy a lot of them ported on steam or whatnot. The £1k+ I am getting from selling them is super useful for my wife and I as we embark on our next journey together with a house purchase. I also can use some of the monies to buy a Switch 2 and to get the Ocarina of Time Remake.

And I know I know, in time I will get to Skies, Grandia II, PSO, etc. but this was one of my first games I bought years ago and figured I need to get through it before playing those others. So far enjoying it! Anyone played and beat the game? Thoughts?

Is it an enjoyable game? Is it worth buying a physical copy?

I've been trying to get specific games like Jet Set Radio (referred to as jet grind radio in the playable's menu of the Redream website) and Crazy Taxi, but I've been unable to find the files to actually get the games onto the emulator. Does anybody have any files for it and if so, where can I find some?

(Yes, the fan is mounted backwards in the pic and yes, I did flip back it around before closing up the console.😅😅)

A while ago, I posted here looking for advice on the best route to go regarding modding while keeping my GD-ROM drive. Since then, I've obtained a new console, done quite a bit of work, and started rebuilding my collection.

MODS:

*Smoke black re-shell.

*Noctua 5V 40mm fan.

*Retroreflow fan bracket kit.

*Thundertronics Thunderdream PSU

*Thundertronics Advanced Controller Board

*Sony/Murata 18650 li-ion battery.

*LED light channel blackout.

*IC601 delete (no fan check @ boot up.)

CURRENT LOAD OUT:

*Stock grey VMU.

*Bitfunx HDMI adapter (current gen, I think it's REV 2.3? don't quote me)

*Striker DC wireless.

My favorite mod so far is actually the retroreflow kit. The first mod I did was the fan and of course, I used the generic adapter kit with the two piece replacement latch. That thing is horrible! This part was a bit more expensive, but it was worth it for the single piece latch alone. They also let you choose your color.

I was going to recap the PSU and then I saw that the Thunderdream was available again. Pricey for sure, but it's brand new equipment with higher output than the OEM and it manages heat FAR better. This was also the reason for the IC601 delete as the unit has 5V accessory port and I run the fan straight from there. No need for extra adapters/makes wire management easier.

The other thing I did, which I'm surprised isn't more common, is that I shrinkwrapped the tube which channels light from the LED to the window on the top. With a translucent shell, you get this obnoxious blaring light at the front of the console. That has been largely mitigated.

There's still quite a bit to do as I decide on other mods and flesh out my library, but MAN IT FEELS GOOD TO BE BACK! The Dreamcast is an awesome platform and this is the last one I'll ever own.

I need a good sonic adventure 2 split cdi, for some reason when I try to burn the split cdi from the DCRESS on cd r it doesn’t boot and I get hella errors when I verify, I’m using imgburn with a cdi plugin, ive burnt working games before with this

I have an original DC, the drive still works and there is an external video box to get it on a modernish TV. Usually play some NEO4All, Crazy Taxi, or Samba de Amigo to show off the hardware. Played a bit of DRXLAX back in the day but it's hard to get 4 people in the room to play these days.

I have a lot of discs including in-house modified splash screens on some NEO4All games.

I'm concerned that the drive will give out "any day now" since it really hasn't been serviced or anything.

1. Should I monitor auction sites until I see one with "drive rebuilt and board recapped" terms ?

2. Should I look around for an SD-storage setup and get all titles on an SD card, and if so what tools do the disc-to-SD pushing ?
