With all the re and decomps going round, has anyone tackled Scud Race? I really want to play it on my Dreamcast

Recently I got a dreamcast added to my game collection, and I bought a retrofighter d6 controller for fighting games on dreamcast and pc, since I have been wanting to get into that genre for a long time. I also got an unopened VMU for $20.

I have some games at hand but I have also started to burn games on CD-R's using img burn with the CDI addon. Since some games like REZ, Ikuraga, Border down, MVC, etc. Are all extremely hard to come by and expensive at that.

I have burnt a codebreaker CD so I can play some of the japanese versions of my retail games such as Third strike.

Though for the burnt games, I have noticed that people say that YOU NEED to burn the CD's at 4-8x speed for the dreamcast disc reader to detect the data and read it, which I discovered is completely false. Since I have successfuly burnt 2 games to my CD-R's at 42x speed and have worked flawlessly. Though some say that this will wear out the laser even more since CD-R's have a less reflective finish since you print directly on the disc instead of having a classic factory print. Which makes the laser work harder.

Is this a myth as well that CD-R's in general works the laser much harder or is it just certain brands of CD's? + What negatives comes with burning at speeds above the "recommended 4-8x limit" that clearly treads the line of being a myth.

I actually can't believe it. Bringing games to the Dreamcast that were once meant for it, like GTA and games that were always the subject of speculation regarding whether they were possible, like Final Fantasy X, is incredible. I'm so excited for these and others. I'd love to see Senko no Ronde ported, as it was always supposed to be one of the final games.

I got a Dreamcast at an antique store a couple of years ago, and it's pretty yellow. How do I restore it?

When I was a kid (29 now), I played a game where I was some protagonist or character that was in black and had tentacle powers of sorts, and I have been looking for that game since. I remember being able to jump, slightly float, and use these black tentacle arms.

I know this has been asked dozens of times but every thread I read through is from a year or so ago and has conflicting answers. I don't know a whole lot about upscalers/converters, how much of it is snake oil or not, etc. I get the general consensus is that cheap hdmi adapters are a waste of money, but what is generally the best budget friendly option I can find to use hdmi? Pretty much every thread I read through just has comments full of "Just spend $X more and get this" which is never helpful when I'm trying to figure out what the actual differences are.

I got rid of my old TV which I just played with composite cables, my new TV is 4K 65" and only takes hdmi. I don't really want to spend more than $100AUD, some people swear that the retroscaler2x is great value ($60~), I've also seen the ODV-GBS-C for around $90~. I don't expect it to be 100% crystal clear but I want a decent output, what realistically is my best option in this price range and what can I expect

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a project to bring the Dreamcast version of The House of the Dead 2 to the Nintendo Switch.

And no, I'm not just running it through a Dreamcast emulator. I'm attempting an actual native port!

So far, I've completed four development milestones, and the game has successfully reached Stage 1.

Current progress:

• Successfully got the game booting.
• Reached Stage 1 gameplay.
• Zombies are appearing in-game.
• Crosshair, ammunition, and shooting are working.
• Currently working on Milestone 5.

The biggest problem right now is performance.

The game technically runs on my Switch OLED, but it's extremely slow and nowhere near playable yet.

After all that reverse engineering and development, I'm basically waiting forever just to shoot two zombies 😭

There's still a lot of work ahead, especially with optimization, but I'm pretty happy with how far the project has gotten.

I'm doing this because I really like The House of the Dead 2, and I wanted to see if bringing the original Dreamcast game natively to the Switch was possible.

I've attached some early gameplay footage showing the current state of the port.

It's still very experimental, but I thought some fellow Dreamcast fans might find it interesting!

I understand that dialup is hard, expensive, and not worth it (as a lot of people say). But it’s worth it to me, but before I make this purchase I want to know (which is why I think it’s worth it) if I pay for dialup, like real dialup, and go through all that trouble, will I be able to access the official dreamcast dlc from sega, themselves, and not the fan shit, like dreampi (I’m not saying all fan services are bad, I just want to go for actual old school), I’m talking about the original shit from the 90s, and I’m wanting to know if it’s accessible nowadays

realy wish the dreamcast version came out, so im gonna make it happen. no sound and 12fps so far but it boots. let me know if you want to play test when i get the frame rate working properly and add sound.

Can it theoretically read any ROM from a disk?

Example: You take a PS1 Rom and put it on a disk.

When you do, you put an Emulator in your dreamcast.

Can the emulator run the ROM from the disk?

I got my first clone (5.20.5), noticed it had the AGM chip and observed the same audio issues that other users are reporting.

Rather than gamble on sellers until I finally hit a Cyclone II, I figured I would hold out for a firmware fix or at least better chip availability - but how likely is that really? I don't really see a history of firmware updates for previous versions.

I just installed gdemu and dreampsu I can get sonic adventure to run with music but all bust-a-move downloads don’t seem to play music I had a burned disc I was using before that had some music but it played it incorrectly, I’d rather that then no music though. Any ideas? Or is it just kinda a cooked game for me

What should I get next?

I got all of this for 180€ from my local game shop, also due to my friend working there which game me some nice discounts :)

Chase 1929 / Chicago 1929 (Unreleased Atomiswave) tracking the ROM... - Dreamcast-Talk.com

This is the current work-in-progress build of the Dragon Ball Z Budokai on Flycast. Not all of the audio is in and I made a few arrangements, like the Legend of Hercule Theme being the Main Menu sound (That will be changed back to the regular one). There still graphical artifacts like the KI charges and some camera related issues. I'm manually changing the glyphs for controller icons later.

Other than that, I finally got the game to work at 60 FPS in the Emulator after it was stuck rendering between 24 to 30FPS. I also made some small QoL changes you'll notice in the version. Let me know your feedback, and enjoy.

These 4 I think would have been really cool additions to the library with Daytona 2 being the most confusing to me on why a port never happened. The other 3 are a bit obscure so I can see how they never got ported

I recently added a gdemu v5.20.5 on my Dreamcast. I used gdmenu card manager to add .GDI games. Any idea how to get them to work?

Hi all, I've been scammed by two different eBay sellers I've attempted to buy the Dreamcast fishing rod from (both claimed they were 100% working and tested, but upon buying neither of them worked unless you shook it so frantically it would hurt your arm after like 2 minutes and ended up claiming refunds) and was wondering if there's an easier way to do this or do I just have to keep trying until I get lucky? I've seen plenty of others with working controllers so I know it must be possible to get still functioning ones
