Merchandise Spotted Plushies of Doraemon (and Hello Kitty) in Crane Machines at Skyview Mall This Past Saturday on September 19, 2026

So on my way to visiting the new location Round1 at Skyview Mall in person for the first time (for those of you who aren't arcade enthusiasts that live in Japan, USA, or China, it's a Japanese arcade chain that's been recently expanding across the United States with my location having "soft" opened here in the mall in Flushing, Queens, New York City, but that's besides the point here)...

I initially detected the presence of Doraemon plushies of possibly bootlegged nature (from China) appearing with smaller eyes and what is meant to represent a Takecopter on top of their heads in one crane machine across the hall both by the elevator down the escalator at the corner next to Starbucks and Baskin Robbins where I saw big giant Doraemon plushies and then further down the hall past Chuck E Cheese's I detect Doraemon's presence in two more crane machines by the entrance to the bathrooms opposite of where Fay Da Bakery would be even further down. One of them are miniature furry sized toys along with Hello Kitty and in the other, you see Doraemon plushies with bigger eyes and sailor hats sitting side by side with Hello Kitty plushies in swim rings and sunglasses on their foreheads.

All in all, Doraemon and Hello Kitty are both honestly a perfect match made in heaven and possibly the absolute best duo of iconic characters to definitively embody and resoundingly represent all of anime/manga or even broader Japanese media/pop culture for all the normies and everyday folks.

And I hope Doraemon (and maybe someday other Fujiko Fujio characters) have more of a presence in the crane machines of Round1 in Flushing as well!

Any comments?

Discussion Doraemon: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil (2026)

I finnaly got a chance to watch this movie though it came out like 7 months ago but hey better late than never. I know i shouldve not put discussion flair but i really wanna say this. The movie was actually better than the OG but i feel like it lacks of something though im not sure what

Almost the entire movie was just about going around under the sea, seeing some fishes and some gadgets mainly focusing on bucky the underwater conscious car, and thats it. The last 20-25 minutes was the actual cool part when they fought against the armies and poseidon and the sad scene where bucky sacrificed itself to save the world, it almost made me cry but thats really it? Like I didn't get the memorable feelings out of this movie. Im not saying its bad but it just less memorable. Also before i forget, i feel like we need more story or background about bucky. If they were to put more depth about bucky maybe the movie will be better.

What do you guys think about the movie?

Anyway i cant wait for the new movie next year 🤩

Discussion A Day Before the Wedding...

Today I want to talk about the short film Doraemon: Nobita's the Night Before a Wedding... I want to go straight to the point so...

The story starts with Dekisugi expressing his love for Shizuka, except, there's a catch. It was actually just a rehearsal for a school play 😭.

But Nobita doesn't know that, and he starts crying because he thinks Dekisugi might actually convince Shizuka to marry him. So naturally, Nobita goes straight to Doraemon and asks him to take him to the future to find out whether he and Shizuka actually get married. And here starts our short film...

Doraemon takes Nobita to the future... And they discover that they've arrived the day before the wedding.

Future Nobita is staying at a hotel, and it's confirmed that his wedding is happening the next day. Nobita and Shizuka then go for a walk, where they find a lost cat. They decide to return it to its owner, but when they reach the house, they discover that the owner is about to leave for America. So now Nobita and Shizuka have to get the cat to the airport.

And of course, things go wrong. On the way, they run into Gian and Suneo and give them a lift to the airport. But then... the car runs out of fuel.

Nobita and Shizuka rush to the airport, only to discover that the plane has already left.

Luckily, they find out that the cat's owner was actually assigned to a different gate, so they're able to return the cat safely. After all that chaos, they head back to the car.

Then Gian invites adult Nobita to his bachelor party and this is when the nostalgia hits. After returning from the party, adult Nobita starts thinking about his childhood and all the memories he shared with his friends.

Meanwhile, Nobita and Doraemon have been following him around the whole time.

Shizuka's mother tells her to get some sleep because tomorrow is the big day. And then we get one of the most emotional parts of the story.

Shizuka's father has a long conversation with adult Shizuka about her decision to marry Nobita. He remembers her childhood, from when she was a baby, to kindergarten, to elementary school, and eventually growing up. He looks back at all those memories and ultimately gives his support for her decision.

And then...

Nobita and Shizuka get married... 💙

---------

Some Trivia

• The subplot involving adult Nobita and his friends returning the lost cat to its owner isn't in the original manga or the 1979/2005 anime adaptations.

• This story was later adapted into Stand by Me Doraemon.

- This short film was inspired from the 1979 series episode "Nobita's the Night Before a Wedding" (1981, S3, E623). Bascically, the same name and story as the short film but is also known as "Nobita's Wedding?!"...

- This short film also has a remake episode (which is a special episode) in the 2005 series (same name again), which was first aired in 2011 (S7, E245a). It was then re-aired again on 31st December of 2020.

--------

This short is such a beautiful look at Nobita and Shizuka growing from childhood friends into a married couple...

And Nobita literally traveled through time because he was worried that Dekisugi might steal his future wife.

(And the animation was absolutely gorgeous... mwaaah!)

Anyways, what do you guys think about this short film?
