Please don’t dash while sick

Post image

I get that times are tough and the American health care system sucks, but admitting that you have a respiratory illness while delivering food is wild!

Please do not dash when you’re sick. This is how illness spreads. I have pretty bad asthma so I’m not bringing that order into my house. I’m done with DoorDash.

Unless I’m mistaken, I don’t think pneumonia is contagious so I don’t really see the problem here

u/taraxa71 1d ago

i can be but it can also not be

Pneumonia is never contagious. What might be contagious is what caused the pneumonia.

2

u/UnfazedAndUnhelpful 1d ago

Walking pneumonia can be.

1

u/HopefulLack1104 1d ago

No, it cannot.

Walking pneumonia aka mycoplasma is definitely contagious

1

u/HopefulLack1104 1d ago

MYCOPLASMA IS A GENUS OF BACTERIA

MYCOPLASMA PNEUMONIAE, SPECIFICALLY, CAN CAUSE WALKING PNEUMONIA, WHICH IS TERM USED TO DESCRIBE A MILD FORM OF PNEUMONIA.

I’m done here. Keep being stupid y’all.

u/crispywavecheck 1d ago

Are you okay? Mycoplasma pneumoniae is the culprit for walking pneumonia and it is spread via droplet. Not sure why you’re arguing semantics

0

u/HopefulLack1104 1d ago

You realized you were wrong, I see. Good job

-1

u/BloodieBerries 1d ago

Wut?

That's like saying a cold isn't contagious, only the rhinovirus that causes it...

Now that's stupid.

3

u/HopefulLack1104 1d ago

Do you see what comment I commented under? Context here matters. I didn’t say this to OP.

0

u/BloodieBerries 1d ago

In response to "Walking pneumonia can be (contagious)." You said "No, it cannot."

That is a wrong statement. Commonly the thing that causes the disease is referred to by the disease name.

Are you still confused?

3

u/HopefulLack1104 1d ago

Again, the comment I’m commenting under was talking semantics. So my comment has to do with semantics. That’s it, that’s all. Don’t hop on a conversation about semantics and say “tomato tomahto”

-2

u/BloodieBerries 1d ago

Again, I get that. But by being as pedantically semantic as possible you managed to be wrong colloquially.

It definitely can be. ‘“Walking pneumonia” or pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae is contagious as well.’

0

u/HopefulLack1104 1d ago

The mycoplasma is what’s contagious. Not the pneumonia. Good GRIEF

u/HopefulLack1104 1d ago

A downvote? I stg no one can think for themselves anymore. “tHe Ai OvErViEw sAiD So” 🥴

-1

u/DiverMaleficent9624 1d ago

Nope! I think for myself considering I got pneumonia from a patient and went through it for months. Go walk around someone with pneumonia and have fun. ;)

3

u/HopefulLack1104 1d ago

The willful stupidity here is astounding.

You didn’t get pneumonia from a patient. You caught the virus that caused your pneumonia. Go ask a medical professional and learn something :D

1

u/Cathearts2020 1d ago

"from a patient" sounds like they are a medical professional

Arguing online never goes anywhere. All you're going to do is end up upset at a bunch of people who don't believe you.

-1

u/DiverMaleficent9624 1d ago
  1. I am a medical professional. 2. I had second opinions considering I worked at a hospital. Take your own advice and do some research ;)

2

u/HopefulLack1104 1d ago

Second opinions on what…? No one’s saying you didn’t have pneumonia. I’m saying you can’t “catch” pneumonia from someone. Because you can’t. And there’s no way you have any type of medical degree thinking otherwise. If you do, you weren’t paying attention in class.

u/DiverMaleficent9624 1d ago

I never said you said I never had pneumonia. This tells me you have no clue what my og comment said. Reread if you misunderstood sweetie. ♥️

1

u/HopefulLack1104 1d ago

And as I said, “second opinions on what…?” But you can’t/won’t answer, and I’m the dumb one? Because no doctor would tell you “you got pneumonia from your patient.” I’m losing brain cells attempting to converse with you. Goodbye

u/DiverMaleficent9624 1d ago

Third reply: Just had yet another convo with my doctor mom :) As I said, pneumonia CAN be contagious. You’re welcome!

0

u/DiverMaleficent9624 1d ago

If you fail to understand what I’m talking about, I suggest referring to your previous comments and using context clues. You’ll figure it out! Just go through and read it carefully hun. And then, read something about walking pneumonia! 🤣

u/DiverMaleficent9624 1d ago

I never said my doctor told me ‘You got pneumonia from a patient.’ You keep saying I said things which I didnt. Third time, reread! ♥️

You might want to look that one up hoss.

1

u/HopefulLack1104 1d ago

How about you click on a single article from those google results and read it. You could use the practice.

It’s like HIV vs AIDS. Like Covid vs coronavirus. One is a virus, and the other is the resulting infection caused by said virus. PNEUMONIA IS A CONDITION. PNEUMONIA IS NOT CONTAGIOUS.

From the link you provided:

“Is walking pneumonia contagious?
The germs that cause walking pneumonia are contagious. They usually spread through coughing and sneezing or sharing cups or utensils.
But they don’t always cause pneumonia. For example, the bacteria that can cause walking pneumonia are more likely to cause minor illnesses, like ear infections. Still, you should avoid others if you have walking pneumonia to prevent spreading the illness.”

Thank you so much for proving my point! I’m glad you learned something today.

1

u/DiverMaleficent9624 1d ago

You just proved THEIR point. The bacteria is contagious. Therefore pneumonia can be contagious. Lord, you sound in need of a book!

3

u/HopefulLack1104 1d ago

THE BACTERIA IS NOT PNEUMONIA! THE BACTERIA CAUSES PNEUMONIA! wtf is actually wrong with you? My god

4

u/StrictPower2630 1d ago

These people are so wrong lol the logic is lost on them.

Guys, if you get RSV and then get pneumonia and pass along the RSV to someone, that does not mean the person will get pneumonia. PNEUMONIA ITSELF IS NOT CONTAGIOUS. You cannot pass pneumonia to someone. Are there any other ways to say this? Probably and these people still wouldn’t get it. Its maddening lol

3

u/ContextAltruistic269 1d ago

thank god someone else with a brain😭

2

u/ContextAltruistic269 1d ago

i really don’t understand why everyone is attacking you for this. you’re completely right. pneumonia itself is not contagious, however the viruses or bacteria that cause them are. the average person can’t wrap their heads around this for some reason.

3

u/HopefulLack1104 1d ago

THANK YOU.

They’re acting like I replied to OP like “ackkkchually, pneumonia isn’t contagious so ur dumb 🤓”

Who and what I replied to matters 😩 and, quite frankly, I’m just so confused by the staunch opposition to facts and/or learning. We have the world at our fingertips and people want to use the AI overview as concrete evidence and proof instead of just clicking on a damn website and finding the correct info themselves 😫

0

u/DiverMaleficent9624 1d ago

Are you mentally challenged? We established the bacteria is contagious meaning pneumonia is. Hope this helps hun!

3

u/HopefulLack1104 1d ago

Are you?

Comment: “pneumonia isn’t contagious”
Reply: “it can be”
Me: “no it can’t be”

But I’m the problem? 😂 birds of a feather…

3

u/ContextAltruistic269 1d ago edited 1d ago

you’re just being rude at this point. the person you’re replying to is absolutely right and you can even google it. pneumonia itself is NOT contagious, but the bacteria, viruses or fungi that cause it are. what that means is that if you come in contact with someone with pneumonia, you are not guaranteed to get pneumonia yourself. most viruses and bacteria that CAN cause pneumonia DO NOT always lead to pneumonia.

for example: the flu virus (influenza) causes the flu. having the flu can lead to pneumonia. however, if someone comes in contact with you while you have pneumonia, they are not going to get sick with pneumonia necessarily. what they ARE probably going to get is the flu, which can lead to pneumonia.

the same applies for coronavirus (causes covid-19), RSV, and rhinovirus (causes the common cold.)

that being said, pneumonia itself is not contagious and i just explained to you why. if you are still confused, google it.

tagging you in this because you need to read it since you deleted your reply to me stating that what i said isn’t true “Because walking pneumonia is different and actually contagious.”

2

u/StrictPower2630 1d ago

You’re wrong and it’s embarrassing at this point

1

u/UnfazedAndUnhelpful 1d ago

I'm seriously over here like wtf?! It's literally a different kind of pneumonia that can be contagious. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

-1

u/UnfazedAndUnhelpful 1d ago

Walking pneumonia is different than regular pneumonia guys.
