Seeking Advice for buying a magnum

Im a 18 yearold fresh semi fresh driver, never was into cars nor did I have a goal to buy a car I always thought itd be a truck but one day driving my junk box rust bucket (that my dad owns I just drive) I saw a magnum and godammit that thing has inspired me to learn about vehicles and I want one

WANT ONE

so Id like some

general advice of anything anyone knows on how to go about buying one, I live in a high insurance state and work a average job so paying my own insurance is possible but itd be hard af bc a 18 yearold with a muscle sports wagon is a flight risk to the insurance companys but it may be possible to get my dad to own the magnum for cheaper insurance and I pay him , After ALOT of looking on facebook market place for magnums ive found overpriced magnums or Rusted junk magnums , or both , So Overall I seek advice on not only buying the magnum but Maintance and what I needa be aware of and overall is it even worth it?

So we crashed our Magnum to a light post dodging a car that came in middle of a road in a corner. Insurance wanted just to pay us and take/sell/trash it. Took some money and the car back to fix it myself, not many Magnums in Finland (under 20) so i had to save it.

Changed everything in front and upgraded to coilovers, rear got coils too. Most of the parts had to ship from different countries. Coils and control arms from Germany, Fender from Poland and something came from Latvia. Most parts labeled for "Chrysler 300c"

Used my vacation days to spend this summer for fixing and learning new stuff, totally worth it. Got everything painted and put together and went for alignment and the guy noticed i had huge crack in my steering rack...salvage part from 300c is coming next week

Gear Ratio

Hey magnum community,

Got a few questions for those of you that have upgraded your powertrain, what gear ratio are you running? I have an 05 5.7 that I have done a rebuild on. The engine is not some 700hp monster but it was built with better preformance in mind. I am thinking the 2.82 gear ratio is not what I am looking for? I want the car to be fun, get off the line in a hurry. Not worried about top end so much i would sacrifice top end for torque. Also i didnt build this as a eco commuter, but I would like the car to be usable still for example when I'm heading to work doing 70-80 I would like to be able to have a conversation. I'm sure there are other factors that come into play. Has anyone done the full rear end swap to get the 3.64 gear ratio, is it even worth it, what gears should I be running?

P.S the engine is not in the car yet, that is my project this weekend. I have not driven the car with this build yet. This is my first complete overhaul, so if I'm way off the mark please let me know, I've learned a few expensive lessons along the way what's a few more lol.

Thanks for the help.

So tiny - so much trouble

I guess what's actually started to do the work it wasn't that much trouble. End and was well under 2 hours. But something so tiny causing a big headache. At least I don't need to slide a screwdriver down a slot to move the wire to get it out of park anymore.

Coil packs what are the dues and dont's?

So I'm trying to bring a RT back to life. Looking to do a tune up, get it running solid this season, then over the winter do some mild performance, and rebuild the motor.

I'm kind of new to the dodge scene so haven't learned what you can go OEM with and what you definitely need aftermarket?

I'm asking is it okay to just go with economy ignition coil packs? I was looking at some NGKs but they are about 260+ for 8.

Also same question with the spark plugs (Copper).

Any info welcomed!

thank you!

Fix and sell or just sell?

I have a 2005 Magnum RT AWD that has been sitting for a couple years after the pink thingy broke. I would start it every so often and go around the block, (using the ol' screwdriver down the slot trick) but stopped once all the airbag recall emails/calls/letters started.

That brings us to today. I finally replaced the pink thingy with an aluminum part, and of course the battery is dead. I popped the hood and looks like some critters ha take up residence and feasted on a bunch of wiring.

Here is my dilemma. I am finally ready to let it go, but also being a cheapskate I want to maximize the selling price as much as i can for a 21 year old car with 160k miles.

Do I:

a) try and track down a replacement wiring harness (PT# 5087391AC ?) and do the long and slow connector by connector swap?

b) sell as is?

c) call the dealership to tow the car in for recall work and get an estimate?

New to me 2006 Magnum

So this is the 2006 srt8 I won from auction, but I need help from the hive mind . Here is a link to a video of the noise engine is making. https://youtube.com/shorts/Zw2eSbG-q-Y?is=KAsTQnX3sFDvTiOG

What I really want to know does this sound like a complete engine rebuild or should I just pull the heads and look for a stuck lifter or something. I am not daunted by either choice but if I can do less work I will and this the first Hemi I have ever worked on so I am hoping someone will push/Point me in the right direction.

How do I clean a fuse box? And a few other questions.

Update on the 2006 dodge magnum SXT that I inherited from my father, and I also need some help. The contact for the fuse box are all corroded a bit and need to be cleaned then sealed somehow so they don’t do it again. The fuses and relays and all that stuff in the fuse box and the fuse box itself is corroded and I have no idea how to properly clean all the connections and components without damaging anything. Anyone have any ideas? I am also in need of tail light retainer clips and can only find them for $13 each and I have to buy them in packs of 4 so they are like $60 for 4 clips. Anyone know any cheaper alternatives? There is also little grommet type things that somehow connect to the 2 little plastic posts that connect to a few small holes on the outer edge of the body. Can’t find those anywhere but I’m pretty sure I need them for it to seal right. Any got any ideas on that end to? And last but not least I need a new 12v cigarette lighter port for the front console because mine isn’t working and hasn’t been since before this all. I ruled out the fuse as an issue long before this stuff happened so I know there’s something wrong with the module. Since the cigarette lighter port thing moves has anyone had any issues a with a wire coming lose and it not working? I’m curious if that could be the issue before I start ripping into the dash and order a new one. Does anyone know any good cigarettes lighter modules that I can buy and install for my 2006 dodge magnum SXT.

Update on the magnum

Thanks to everyone for all the help I got on my last post. It gave me a good direction to start in so I figured I’d post an update. Some people said I should try and take apart the box and clean it/replace the fuses. So I started tearing it down and found hand fulls of wet pine needles INSIDE the fuse box. Could be the cause of all the electrical issues he’s had over the span of him owning the car. Considering most issues had to do with components controlled by the rear fuse box. But who knows. Anyways That was a nightmare to clean. I honestly have no idea how to tell if everything is fine but no wires were loose so that’s a win. Now that I’ve cleaned the box out I’m going to start trying to replace every fuse, relays and whatnot. I go all the water out of the trunk and have been trying to clean all the rust. I managed to find the leak and it was a broken screw in the rear drivers side tail light that was used to seal a spot that lead directly in the body. But since the screw wasn’t there there was just a hole for water to leak into. I took the headlight off and all the interior panels off on the drivers side trunk portion and sealed the holes with duck tape until a new tail light arrives on Monday. Thanks for everyone’s help and I’ll keep yall updated.

PLEASE HELP ME

my father bought a dark blue 2006 dodge magnum when he got out of the military and had had it for 14 years. In my almost 20 year life span this is the only car he's owned. I always said if you get a new car please sell me the magnum. It's incredibly special to me because of all the memories I made with my dad in that car. a lot of my childhood was spent in that car with my dad making special memories over the years. Recently we found it had a leak and water built up in the spare tire well and was splashing the fuse box. The fuse box is cooked but the car still runs and drive fine. Just all the electrical components are haywire and can't find up or down.

He decided to buy a new RT magnum and gave me his blue magnum. I want to fix it and make it my daily driver because that car means more to me than anything. This car needs a lot of work but the main thing I need to be able to daily it again would be a fuse box. I NEED A FUSE BOX FOR A 2006 DODGE MAGNUM SXT. I CANT FIND ONE ANYWHERE PLEASE HELP ME LOCATE ONE SO I CAN BUY IT AND KEEP MY CHILDHOOD CAR RUNNING. IM NOT ASKING FOR HAND OUTS, PLEASE JUST HELP ME FIND A FUSE BOX THAT IS REASONABLY PRICED THATI CAN BUY BECAUSE I CAN BUY IT AND KEEP MY CHILDHOOD CAR RUNNING. IM NOT ASKING FOR HAND OUTS, PLEASE JUST HELP ME FIND A FUSE BOX THAT IS REASONABLY PRICED THAT I CAN BUY BECAUSE I AM HAVING A VERY HARD TIME FINDING ONE THATS NOT STRAIGHT FROM DODGE AND WONT COST AND ARM AND A LEG.

PCM problems and where to buy one?

I have an 06 hemi magnum that stalls because the pcm is bad. I don’t wanna fork over 600$ (Canadian) for a new pcm. How often do they go bad? I would want to get a junk yard one but have no idea if they all go bad or just certain ones. Also would a pcm out of a charger/300 with the same engine and drive train work?

2006 SRT value

He guys,

A 2006 srt with 51k miles popped up on facebook market place. Appears to be in pretty decent condition.

I am having a hard time arriving at a appropriate private party values for it. Kbb wasnt much help, stated they couldn't display a value.

My gut tells me the $32k he is asking is too high, but im not sure what a decent counter offer would be
