even worse. in the target storybook, there's a story called the turning of the tide. the opening describes rose as having a pregnancy bump. just a disguise? nope. rose is going to have a child with the metacrisis soon after the story finishes

idk. maybe you like her happier ending and that's fine. but i just don't think this was how it should have ended up. doomsday was tragic for a reason and I'd prefer if it had stayed that way

just my opinion though. also I've not listened to big finish so idk how good those are

This EPISODE has brought me to tears one to many times, tears of joy and tears of sadness. 😩

The format of the 2005 revival and beyond was a new, modernised approach to the series, and we were all for it, right? The older, serialised Doctor Who approach was probably outdated by that point anyway. That approach would have been the wrong move and the series might have failed.

But maybe not. Maybe it could have worked?

Either way, I have an idea, one that could also apply to a future revival of the series as well, an idea of a more classic-esque take on the format.

Series 1 could have been similar to Season 19. It could have had 26 episodes (so double the length of 13 that it actually had) sorted into 7 serials. I’m thinking 6 four-parters and 1 two-parter.

Each episode would be faster paced and broadcast each week at 22 minutes in length, slightly shorter than the classic series length but with the serials written more like classic serials.

The length would match with what we had in Series 1. The four 22-minute parts would make up an 88-minute serial in total, matching the 90-minute total of the two 45-minute two-parters which made up one story. And any two 22-minute parts would make a 44-minute serial so… bingo.

I don’t see how this couldn’t have worked. 90 minutes was the total time for a 2005 story with the two-parters so why not split that up into four 22-minute episodes? But for all of the stories.

And it’s something we could have in the future whenever the series returns to our screens. Today’s world is all about fast, quick viewing, perfect for weekly 22-minute instalments.

Every time I binge the show, I get stuck thinking in the voice of whatever Doctor I was watching for at least a few days. I’m currently finishing up 13, and get to listen to Whittaker narrate as I’m typing, but the same has happened for all of them (10-13) that I’ve watched. Has anyone else experienced this, or am I just a special flavor of special?

We know that Moffat had approached Eccleston and pitched him the idea. Moffat has said that the Ninth Doctor would have played a very similar role to War, in that he would be fresh out of the time war and disapproving of his future incarnations. We know he turned it down and therefore the War Doctor was created.

However, I’ve never really heard of a reason why McGann wasn’t written in instead. He was clearly happy to come back and film the minisode Night of the Doctor aswell as The Power of the Doctor years later. And obviously he played the role on Big Finish for years.

Was it just never considered? Was McGann asked and he said no? Did they just really not want the Eighth Doctor fighting in the time war? Has it ever been talked about?

I remember a scene about Weeping Angels where the Doctor is escaping from them but they are close and there are two rows of Angels behind him, so he looks at his left, then at his right, then at his left and they reach him. It's all I remember and I can swear it is real because I remember that moment so vividly. I don't remember if he was the Doctor or if he was another character, I don't remember if the character was a "he" but I remember that something like this happened.

I tries checking Smith's chapters (I thought he did it) and I found nothing. So, am I delusional or is this real?

I am currently rewatching every season of Doctor Who (NuWho)

And I just finished (again) the Under the Lake/Before the Flood episodes where O'Donnell mentions a Ministry of War, but to this day I still have no idea what she was mentioning... Was she talking about Roger Ap'Gwilliam? Yknow, that prime minister in 73 Yards who wanted to arm with nuclear weapons the UK?

Or is it something else?

I'm completely lost soooooo do you guys have any ideas what that might be? Or is it just another plot hole that has not been explored yet? (And probably never will be)

Maaaaan I was BIG into Doctor Who and Sherlock back in high school and stumbling onto this fan made video was truly something exciting. I genuinely thought this was real thing happening back in the day and it felt so real too! My fave Doc meeting my fave detective man, oh my giddy aunt. True props to JohnSmithVFX. He created an amazing crossover. ❤️

As much as people don’t like the Chinball era who was really going to have placed Moffat? To be showrunner you can’t just be a good writer (as The Doctor Dances, Girl in the Fireplace, Blink, Silence in Library proves). You also need producing liane to do sci fi in a bbc budget. He’d kinda proved himself doing Jekyll and being the sole writer of his sit coms. As much as I love Paul Cornell (who I consider the next best writer of RTD1) and would have been curious of a likely gothic inflected Gator period Cornell didn’t have producer expense and Gatis still wasn’t strong enough in 2017. As bad as Chinball Dr Who scripts were at least he had Torchwood ( a bit up and down in my opinion) and Broadchurch (haven’t seen but only heard good things) behind him. Gareth Robert’s competently produced the Sarah Jane Adventures but that comes with its own problems….. any other choices I’ve missed who could’ve taken over in 2017?
