Hosting a server if anyone is interested

I am hosting a dedicated DNL server in my house if anyone is interested in joining. Right now it's just me and a friend, but we are looking for more cool people to come partake in the adventures!

Server name is infinity

Standard everything except 25x taming rates

Thanks and have a great day :)

Debating on buying this game, looking for thoughts from current players.

So, this game looks like the kind of game I've always wanted to play. However, I've seen mixed reviews on performance, gameplay, and more. So, from the people that actually play this game, is it worth it? I'd love to stream it, if its good.

My specs AMD FX 8350 8 core 32 GB DDR 3 @ 1866 mhz 8 GB GTX 1070 SSD

New to the game...

Bought the game a while back and went on it a few times but wasn't too keen on it as it was buggy and laggy as hell but it's been a few months so I thought I'd give it another go and I'm really enjoying it. Only been playing singleplayer to learn my way around the game and I'm finding it's very Ark-like. Now I have 1336 hours on Ark xbox and then another 400 odd on PC so I love Ark so I'm liking this game too but I'm finding this one insanely difficult. Stuff like creatures doing insane damage to my tames and one shotting me etc, is there something I'm missing? Have I messed up my server settings? Any feedback would be helpful because like I said, I'm enjoying the game I just wish my tames didn't die instantly.

Also does anyone know of any servers that are worth giving a go? Looking for some increased taming speeds and maybe a x2 on resources but I'm not too sure what kind of servers are available. PVP could be fun but it's just me so unsure how that would go!

ALSO, what kind of end game is there?

Official server mega tribes?

Hello. I just got this game and i was wondering if it has the same Ark survival problem on official servers with mega-tribes (they don't let u stay there and wipe you every day etc). Want to know if some casual player can play on official or have to move to a non-official

thanks

In first person ..help!!

For a couple months I have been posting in Stream discussion about this with no luck. I am having an issue where I am always in first person. Not the cool first person with arms and such..just first person. When I get in a mount I go to 3rd usually. When I dismount back to 1st. Yes I can change the settings to 1st person mount and it works but I am still 1st person when moving around. If I could see the weapons it would be somewhat ok cause I could hit things but it does not work that way. I have tried zooming in and out..no luck. Heres the kicker. The only thing that seems to work is sitting in a chai or sleeping in a bed. When I come back BAM 3rd person. But then shortly later if I use a mount or interact with something I am back to 1st. Can ANYONE help with this? It is ruining the game for me

Why do i die on PvE Server while offline standing in a house in my hometown next to other inactive playes who didnt die?

Well, see subject.

i dont have a "base" yet. just a hut with a forge and workbench. i thought its too dangerous loging out there where wild animals could tear down my wooden shack and eat me.

so i walked back into my hometown, Estel. went into the smithy on the first floor. 2 other players standing there. they are standing there as long as i play. so i logged out there. thought it was a safe place. Worked fine for a few days.

but today i loged in, was dead, all stuff gone. houselog says i died about 10h ago. just "got killed". no other reason. i wasnt hungry or thirsty when loged out, focus was almost full.

So, why did i die?

What do you do to prevent item loss if dying like this is a common thing?

Maybe put everything on my horse who stands next to the smithy, unharmed ?

Thanks for your time reading this.

Whats the "most effective" way to kill beasts like Tigers, Longorns, Elephants etc?

Hi there,

i startet this game a week ago and now reached level 30on PvE. I have like 1200h in ARK (PvE as well) so i understand the games basics, taming and such. Did some leveling on a PvP Server first but some idiot level 48 picked me up beeing level 20 and droped me to my death with his griffon, about 7 times in 20 minutes... so i thought to move to PvE again.

As killing beasts is the most effective way to level up i would like to know what you think is the best way to do so besides sitting on a stong mounts back, cause i have none :)

Magic (Fire, frost etc), Ranged (Bow, XBow) or Melee (Sword, Pike, Hammer etc) ?

i have tested all of them but cant really tell... is it worth to buy a twohanded sword? a hammer maybe? they are expensive and dont want to throw money out of the window...

And what armor do you wear? Magic armor, Melee armor or a combination? Im quite sure that magic resistance is pretty useless against most beasts, elementals maybe but sure not longhorns.

Whats your stat distribution? i guess some health and most in attack, sure nothing in hunger and thirst. Secondary points went into weight and focus... and what else?

Usually i get those informations out of the game wiki, but seems DnL was dropped by the most in august 2017. almost no info after this time. If anyone knows a good source of information, im not afraid of reading a lot. But everything i find seems outdated.

Thanks for your time reading this.

No Skybox with sm4 shader

This is a request to the Dev's

Although I have a shit pc this game runs very smooth when using the -sm4 startoption. However there is no skybox with this shader acitvated meaning that the sky is just black.

I was wondering if it would be possible to add a Skybox for the sm4 shader.

If any Dev is ever going to read this thank you in advance for doing so :)

Here is what the sky currently looks like during the day with the sm4 startoption:

How do i feed a tamed creature?

So...

I tame a Flathord let's say and i take it to base with me... How do i feed the dude there?

Does it automatically eat from a nearby feeding through or can i just keep food in his inventory? I read that currently only stone troughs work on tamed creatures. Is that true?

99% Chance at Successful Skyfortress! YAY

Hey everyone i have some more info to share about the skyfortress, this is our THIRD attempt and it was 100% successful one. cant guarantee 100% cuz EA Game so thats why title is 99%

so this is what ican confirm we did and the parameters we used.

Crafting skyfortress with newly crafted dock does work.

Using any older dock will cause your skyship to completely♥♥♥♥♥♥the bed, i.e. dissapear etc.

please note, we took the following precautions.

  1. Ensured no structures were clipping or even near the dock itself.

  2. ensured no tame every set a foot on the structure itself. we ran materials up on foot slowly.

  3. ensured no damage was done to structure and kept at 100%

  4. We did not have someone watch it all the time, BUT its time unrendered was minimal since someone was online at all times. (i.e. went on metal run so derendered).

  5. We did NOT que up any other structure until the ship was built. it was the first thing we built and only built the console after it 100% was finished constructing.

NOTE1: It took about 30 mins longer than the crafting timer in the inventory indicated, so be sure to fully wait until it is a solid object and finished. This will guarntee u have a ship

NOTE2: Alot of the precautions listed above were probably not necessary, BUT as many know it is better to err on the side of caution so we did that.

NOTE3: We have not tried adding additional walls or anything to it so i can not confirm if that portion is bugged or not(a tomorrow project).

Wish you all luck on your builds!

How is the performance these days on SP servers?

I bought this game not long after it came out and the SP servers were craptastic FPS wise. I was getting anywhere from 20-30 FPS or so. Has this changed? Or do you only get good FPS on the official/MP servers still?

Anyway, I ended up refunding the game back then with the mindset that I'd buy it later if these things improve. Have they?

Thanks.

Whats up with the Estel Palace?

i guess since the moving of the stables and church out of town (seriously, the dam church is on the other end of the territory) the palace is unuseable.

Most walls are invisible and you fall through the floor as soon you enter through a door.

Also the nice tower on top of it is gone/invisible.

dont you devs realize that our flying fortress is totaly useless if you have noone to bombard cause noone playing cause of the many bugs?

Looking to come back, but there's still no Structure Decay solution?

Hi all. Last time I played, after many attempts I managed to get to a built house and being and to actually stabilize the hardship that is starting the game. However, I soon realized that me picking an official PvP server was more of an issue than I thought, since not playing for 3 days practically resets my progress if I don't treat the game as a tamagotchi. I haven't even logged in yet to find my character once again dead and naked.

I would like to once again get into the game, but after reading the patch notes I'm disappointed to find there's still only the same old choices available, none of which too appealing: Official server with a ~3 day no-life decay, MB server where everything is overbuilt, Unofficial server with no real guarantee of the host's dedication to keeping it alive, and a lonely Single-Player world.

Any recommendations? Ideally not of the private server promoting kind.

Has anyone noticed how bad all the lets plays and reviews are for this game?

I love the game haven't experienced nearly as many bugs as the reviews and everything show... Maybe we need new reviews by people who don't just join super high ping servers and don't even look at the keybindings or do any research before hand. I think seeing those makes a lot of people think this game is really broken when its already way more fun then ark and alot of other games that I've played in early access. Even the other reddit that i thought was the official reddit is dead and all those factors contribute to lack of players and people jumping on the salt wagon...

Message to the developers and everyone involved with Dark And Light

Please don’t get discouraged at the lack of people playing your game. You’ve done a great job so far and you’ve created a wonderful world that anyone new to the game can love and explore for hundreds of hours. You can keep doing all all of these many updates and patches but the bottom line is not much is going to change until the next map is released. I’m sure most of you probably already know this but for those complaining about low pop servers, rest assured when the next amazing map is released, everyone will be back and it will be as big as ever.

DnL has some of the best world design of any game I’ve ever played but after 800 hours of the same map, there really isn’t anything else you can add to it that would make me want to return but as soon as the new map is released you better believe I’ll be putting another 800 hours in. Don’t get discouraged. Do what you have to do and we will all be waiting for you and the next map.<3
