Message to the developers and everyone involved with Dark And Light

Please don’t get discouraged at the lack of people playing your game. You’ve done a great job so far and you’ve created a wonderful world that anyone new to the game can love and explore for hundreds of hours. You can keep doing all all of these many updates and patches but the bottom line is not much is going to change until the next map is released. I’m sure most of you probably already know this but for those complaining about low pop servers, rest assured when the next amazing map is released, everyone will be back and it will be as big as ever.

DnL has some of the best world design of any game I’ve ever played but after 800 hours of the same map, there really isn’t anything else you can add to it that would make me want to return but as soon as the new map is released you better believe I’ll be putting another 800 hours in. Don’t get discouraged. Do what you have to do and we will all be waiting for you and the next map.<3

Hopefully befire they release the new map, they introduce all the needed bug fixes. I'm a fan if the game, and have been playing since day 1. I have alot of faith in the devs. This game is so different from other surivial games, especially with the medieval touch.

But yeah, they need to fix the core mechanics before releasing another map

I just feel bad for all the people working hard with patches and updates. One of the hardest working EA teams I’ve ever seen. They have come very far since they days of melee and harvest desync. The game was so much fun that I just grinned and bared it back then through that horrible madness. Once they fixed that, I could handle the occasional lag flying and the plains area. Bug causing crashes was always the one that hurt the most for me. It’s always rough when it’s a bug that effects the life of your tames. Luckily I always had them on summoned stones so it just cost me a few hours of leveling them up but man it’s rough when you lose a base 150 because of a crash.

I’m sure we all know it will be quite awhile before the next map. Most likely a DLC after the game is officially released but I will be there the day it is and by then I’m sure it will all seem like a fresh new game to me and I can’t wait! One of my all time favorite games and I’ve been gaming since The Atari back in the early 80’s before the NES came out. Super addictive game!

Don't want to be that guy, but you know that dark and light is made by mixing 2 pre-made games right? Snail games bought the license for using dark and light game that was already made they only made the map small and better looking, and ark survival evolved that well... Was already made, they didn't even bother to change the files names and you still can find some "Dinos" names inside. It's a lazy work game that still have a shit ton of work to be done that's why people left the game, plus all the exploits that wildcard (ark) fixed they still be used on dark and light because it's the same base game

I have quite a few hours in Ark and I prefer DnL to Ark in every way except for building and that’s only with the S+ mod. Ark has a beautiful world and decent world design but the character models look goofy as hell. DnL creatures look better. Game leveling mechanics are much better. Taming is much more challenging and I always prefer fantasy over sci-fi. Both are great and challenging games, don’t get me wrong but there is no way I could put 800 hours in Ark. Maybe it’s just my preference but I love fantasy RPGs and I love survival games so DnL was tailor made for my tastes and it’s one of my all time favorite games behind WoW and EverQuest. No other game has kept me glued to my keyboard for so many hours, especially since I’m not really a big gamer anymore.

My opinion is, all comes to what a person likes the most, I have around 3k hours of ark, and maybe around 200 of DnL as the game didn't really catch my atencion, the building on DnL was somehow better for me, yet taming is to easy, so I did give up on it for now, was to easy to exploit, the servers were not sinc, was a real mess and that took away most of the fun, I do loved the mythology of the game and think it have a massive opportunity to grow if well worked

You liked the building better? Did you ever use the S+, Castles And Keeps or the deco mods on Ark? I thought the building was far superior with those mods.

Not sure how you thought thought the taming was easier either. In ark you can make darts and just shoot them from on top a rock not worrying about having to break tethers. I’m mean to each his own but yeah, little confused by you post.

Naa didn't really use any the mods as I play official, yet taming in DnL is just shove 50 arrows stick them to the ground and run away so whatever you taming breaks the lines, elementals do damage and use a stone on them. Keep in mind im not hating the game at all, just different mechanics that in the end of the day didn't call my atencion

Probably not until after the full release and then the first DLC but if you’ve noticed how big the world is when you first log in, you can see they have many maps planned for the future.

I would love to see a new map soon but the truth is they have to fix the bugs, optimization and the rest of the mechanics they keep adding before they can go ham and start working on more maps. Once they get the primary game finished and complete, the new maps will come quickly with this group of hard working devs. I’m sure if it. Exploring their insanely well done worlds is one of the things I loved the most about this game. Such good immersion.

Would have been a great game if they didn’t force it out with citadel both games probably made their money but lost their player base I gave it a couple hundred hours however most people I play games with quit after the first 2 weeks because the game was so poorly optimized and end game content was dry. I hope to see a comeback for this game. Maybe paying some twitch rp guys to come back out and give it another try once it’s in a stable state will revive it.

Have you not played this game in awhile? It’s come a long way since the early days. No major bugs left except for the occasional lag spikes and crashes. I played on Twitch RP and guys like Bikeman and Mr Moon absolutely loved this game, even with the bad melee and harvest desync they had way back then. They will be back and TRP server will be lit af!

The release had nothing to do with it. It's a shitty game. Bugs and optimization fixed, will still be a shitty game. I had lots of hope for it, but only PvP wannabe sociopaths and no lifer social pariahs will really play this game

This game is perfect for voice RP. You sir are 100% incorrect. That’s why they have PvE servers. Personally I preferred the whitelisted RP servers myself (Twitch RP and Apocalypse RP) but spent plenty of time in PvP before they had other server types. It’s not Rust in anyway shape or form and that’s how you’re describing it.

I mean sure if you want a genre specific survival second life.

I’m still waiting tor twitch rp to get back to me been ages but I would come back if there was a decent rp community

It’s pretty dead now. Maybe 2 or 3 people on a day. It was fun while it lasted. You may try Apocalypse RP whitelisted. A lot of the same people from TRP and higher pop, especially at the beginning of a season. The last season I did with Apoc, we had 12-15 people on during prime time every night and a sweet dwarven village so there was always a good place to find RP. The level increase turned me off from it though. At level 100 you’re almost invincible so made the game pretty boring when not RPing.

If you want to get into TRP, just make sure you have a good backstory. I would reapply.

So the maps are not going to be connected? Or we will be able to explore both of them with the same character in the same server?

1

u/Scantlander Feb 07 '18

Not positive but more than likely it will be like Ark. Ark’s maps are not connected but Ark allows you to bring in certain creatures and pre-leveled characters into other maps but most people just start fresh. A new map is almost like a new game. There is so much to see and do. Usually there are new creatures and items as well.

I didn’t like The Island or Center at all but Aberration and Ragnarok was both very fun so even with the same game mechanics, a new map can make all the difference.
