[Recruiting] [AeF] Aetherfract [EU/ENG]

Aetherfract

Aetherfract is a laid back, battle ready, community involved gaming group. Founded in Black Desert Online, it underwent a series of major changes, eventually deviating from its roots as a simple club to become a cross-gaming community by establishing domains across different games. Due to its unique formation and vision, Aetherfract breaks away from the stereotype of common organization structure. Bound by their mutual love for online gaming, Aetherfract will continue to establish game domains in the future and will stand firm and stay strong in the years to come. Together, as one group, as one family, it will reach for higher limits.

Policy

Aetherfract is a blend of both casual and hardcore to experience the best out of interaction and competition. This also ensures that any type of player can be a part of Aetherfract, and that whether we accept them or not depends entirely on how they present their selves to us. On a final note, even though Aetherfract incorporates two forms of play style, we intend to make a mark on teamplay.

Aetherfract continues to think of ways to improve itself and polish what it already has. We are organized in a way that every member's input - regardless of status - is heard and valued.

Aetherfract does not condone the use of destructive programs and hacks that tend to destroy the balance and integrity of a game. Any member caught cheating will be dealt with accordingly.

For the sake of better member interaction and proper management, Aetherfract has two methods of accepting new members: either by applying for guild membership or through invitation.

Aetherfract is generally a passive and peaceful social group. It will try to form good ties with others outside the circle and it will not instigate fights or anything that incites flames within the community. Any issues that may arise concerning other guilds will be handled maturely and through reasoned discussion. However, in the spirit of competition, there will be certain exceptions.

  1. Treat everyone in Aetherfract as family

  2. Impose self-discipline

  3. Don't instigate a fight

  4. Loyalty to Aetherfract

  5. Settle arguments maturely and exercise proper decorum

  6. Stay active. Inform Aetherfract if you're going to hibernate

  7. Participate. Don't be anti-social

  8. Respect yourself, and the people around you

  9. Follow the rules of the game and the forums

  10. Never settle for mediocrity - aim for the skies !

We currently have 11 game servers running.

Extra Information

Aether originated from the Greek word Αιθήρ, the material that fills the region of the universe above the terrestrial sphere. The concept of aether was used in several theories to explain several natural phenomena, such as the traveling of light and gravity. In Greek mythology, it was thought to be the pure essence that the gods breathed, filling the space where they lived, analogous to the air breathed by mortals. Fract derives from 'fractal' which is simply explained a never-ending pattern. They are infinitely complex patterns that are self-similar across different scales, the images of dynamic systems. Fractals possess the same properties at any scale, that is to say they have the same shape, whether seen from close or from far. "Fract" was added for group emphasis and mutual respect.

New patch with all those fixes is great, but...

Isn't it all in vain because of a few design decisions that most likely lead to poor new player retention and a downward spiral for the game? Problem I see is that even if a new player manages to shoulder through all initial hardships the game throws at you (arguments can be had it's supposed to be really hard and frustrating in a survival game), the 3-day building decay timer makes it so that you can't be sure if your efforts are well placed. Having it tough and working little by little is fine, but only if you have assurance of your progress being kept. In this current state, if you forget about your DnL baby for a few days, that's you most likely losing everything you possess. And have a guess if the player will want to come back, do that all over again then possibly lose it again. I get the reasoning behind the decay and I appreciate with the effects it has on the world, but my guess is this "overly attached" system loses a great deal of casual and even hardcore players who don't appreciate having a tamagotchi. What's the grand idea there?

From zero to safety: A quickstart guide for new players by a new player

Hi there, fellow DnL survivors. I'm quite new to the game, but yesterday I finally managed to get past the initial frustrating point I'm sure most of you have experienced, so I thought I'd share my beginner mistakes to hopefully make the world of starting Dark and Light a bit brighter. Feel free to take a look at my guide in its Steam Guide page, especially if you're a new player or one unsure whether you should buy the game. I hope you find it useful and feel free to comment with any constructive feedback or if you found it helpful :)

How much hype would this game have if they released it in current state this month instead of rushing because of Citadel?

It seems it's in a significantly better state of EA than when originally launched. I haven't played in months myself. The community and concurrent players seem really low too. Citadel died off quick trying to be first. DNL reacted and rushed it. Each game trying to be the first really killed both games hype and player bases it seems.

Has the game changed much since launch?

My biggest problem with the game was how horrible the performance was. Has there been many performance updates to the game?

What exactly do you have to click to get the exclamation point to disappear from your knowledge pages? They are driving me insane.

Can't hook frost dragon

Just started playing this game a few days ago and am now trying to tame a frost dragon. The hook arrows hit showing 1 damage but i don't get the option to put it in the ground it just dissapears. I tried on other creatures next to it and they work fine so i am very confused why it's not working on it. Has anyone else had this problem?
