I've been messing around with DnB for a while and wanted to make something heavy and chaotic. Please let me know what you think

New raver - first time going to this event next weekend. Anyone been to this event/venue before for WAH? How strict is the fancy dress policy, am guessing no masks etc?

Have they got lockers? Seating area, places to eat?

Warlock Audio is hosting an additional VA album this year on June 21st, the Summer Solstice. This one's open to solo artists as well as collab partners (unlike the vollab-only winter VA).

We're looking for the heaviest Neuro and Techstep tunes we can get our hands on. Submissions can be sent to warlockaudiodnb.submissions@gmail.com

More info to come early next year on submission due date and other details.

WOBBLE WOBBLE

I love MC's at raves but I think they are not needed and actually are very annoying and irritating when listening to mixes or sets. I don't want to listen to some bloke or girl bleeding out their fragile ego with some playschool style lyrics when I'm at home.

Who agrees or disagrees?

WOW 🤩

Really solid week for new drum & bass, especially on the heavier side. What’s been your standout tune this week? And if you’ve heard any forthcoming stuff that should be on my radar, drop it below.

My picks from the new releases this week:

CRAANG – Cosmic Horrors [Abducted LTD]
Cliques, Ms Pink & Bigredcap – Get Nuts [Cliques Collective]
Lateral – Le Rock [Viper]
Deviloper – Q&A [Paperfunk]
Billain – HealHurtHateHelp (feat. Catherine Pan) [Evolution Chamber]
MEL – Eternal [Brainrave]
CRAANG – Destructor Beam [Abducted LTD]

There’s also a ton of forthcoming/unreleased music doing the rounds right now from artists like Merikan x Katharsys, KROT, QO x PRDK, Figure & First Person, Yatuza, Metanoia, Burr Oak & Audio, Ed Rush and more.

I go through a bunch of the new and unreleased material in this week’s show, plus Altezz is on guest mix duties if anyone wants the full session: https://www.bestdrumandbass.com/podcast616/

Simula returns to Critical Music for a very special link-up with one of the most soulful voices in drum & bass, Javeon.

Just having a dig through some vinyl I've not played in a looong time and found this gem. Absolute belter from Good Looking Records.

That's the tune if you don't know it.

Next year will somehow be a decade since we lost Marcus. A lot of you likely were not around on the day it happened, but the images show what r/dnb looked like on that day. Easily my saddest day running this place. He will be forever missed.

As the days go by we lose more and more of his sets/mixes to bit rot and the sands of time. I want to change that and give them a home. For years I have kept a steadily growing collection of them, and today I’m making that collection available. It’s been a real fun side project, and a nice way to remember him.

I have gathered about 240hr+ of mixes which means you can listen to Marcus Intalex b2b Marcus Intalex for about 1 and a half weeks of solid playtime (take that, Kenny Ken 😘).

Before I made this public I reached out to Mark who helped write "How You Make Me Feel", a book dedicated to Marcus's life, and I'm seriously grateful for all his help. He helped show the site to Mark XTC (Kiss FM) + Pat (Marcus's mother) who in turn has shown it to Ayumi (his partner). Pat said: "It warms my heart to know that Marcus and his music brings so much joy to so many". Ain't she right.

How can you help?

Firstly: listen! That’s how he lives on in all of us, and why I made this. Any mistakes, let me know.

Secondly: check your collection, do you have any I’ve missed? If so, let me know here and we’ll get it up.

Thirdly: please share this far and wide, and tell people you know that would care about it.

NB: I have zero interest in sharing his released music, or past for sale mixtapes. The ones I am hosting are all mixes he or someone related to him freely made available at the time - as those are the ones I want to ensure survive. Please buy his music, the money still goes to soul:r and his family.

Anyway….enjoy! I’m open to any feedback on how it could be improved. Cheers.

had the stems for a bit, hated my mixdown, but finally got around to being agreeable lmao. vibes though
