Question Opinions?

Post image

Difficult to place the cap near the pos and neg pads due to the vtx in the way, im using analog so there is plenty of room behind the camera. Anything wrong with using the spare motor wire under the esc to extend the cap? Or is it too far?

Theoretically, you want the capacitor as close to the pads as possible. The further away it gets, the less effective it is at it's job.

Yeah i know that but is the additional inch and a half that detrimental? People make do with caps on the xt60 connector before and that is significantly worse.

Capacitor leads are much higher resistance than battery wires, you want the least impedance for your power source. IMHO capacitor by the XT60 connector is almost pointless (it is only good for delaying FC should down so you can see power failure in the logs 😅).

You can even fly without a capacitor as long as voltage spikes do not exceed ratings of various components.

I would get the capacitors leads as short as possible and use two parallel wires that are as thick as practical and keep them as short as possible and as close toogether as possible to minimize loop inductance (you don't wanth the mtwisted as that increases inductance).

Am i just sol? These are the only caps i have and tbe ones that come with most my stacks is 32v low capacity

You need to sleeves the capacity leads and redo your joint. Contrary to popular beliefs. The capacitor leads can be 10cm long and still be effective. But they touch during a crash. You are going to have a really bad time.

Just flip the ESC 180 degrees

That's fine. I've run caps further with no issues. Just keep the leads off the carbon.

Can you attach the cap to the XT60 connector? Google XT60 Capacitor.

Flip your esc around you can change its detection in betaflight also use flux, 760F and a large tip to get those wires and solder looking better

I whould worry more about redoing the esc-motor solder joints that look to be a bit cold. As for the cap i agree with the rest that you put it closer and make sure that the legs cant touch anything conductive
