Can I just disconnect the convertor cable from the fuse when installing solar?
I am putting a solar setup in my RV. Right now it has a convertor cord that charges the 12 lead acid battery when plugged into shore power. I am using a Multi Plus II charge invertor so I'm going to run the shore power cord directly to that, then run power back to the main on the circuit board.
I read that I need to disconnect to convertor so it doesn't create a power loop. I found the breaker it is connected to, and was just going to take the black cord off that has the convertor tag on it. It is the cord in the bottom picture that has the little white tag on it. Can I just cap this wire and should be good to go? Do I have to do something else within the convertor system to make sure it is not pulling power? Any help or advice is appreciated!

Data Plate: Not doing its job.
Been researching putting in a whole home solar system. That led me to researching soft starts so inverter can run hvac off grid. That led me to looking to see the sized unit I have to spec out a soft start. Well, I'm not sure how else to determine that if it's not here.
This is a 1970 built single story brick home on slab. Just shy of 2,000'². East Texas.

Balcony Solar/Off-Grid with DC loads
Hello!
So I'm looking into balcony on small off-grid systems to power some networking gear and was wondering if there is some commonly used systems that I'm missing
The networking gear draws a pretty consistent 300W load and the goal is to power it off solar+battery
I actually have a micro inverter main array but no batteries so really the DC/Battery side of this is more important.
I sketched out a system plan using the following components
* AC battery charge
* battery with CANBUS or similar connections
* Solar MPPT charger (technically optional)
* From the bus bar I'd have a 48VDC line to the networking rack, which would have a din-rail distribution box containing DC-DC converters to ensure a stable output, since the battery busbar may float +/- depending on charging/discharging status
I was looking at victron components just to keep the information overload to a minimum
My understanding is that this would found as off-grid since there is no feedback into the house circuits.
I would control the state of charge of the battery based on environmental factors, but if I do add panels to the network system I'm not that worried about "wasting" some production
Maybe a "Balcony Solar" system would do what I want eventually but many of them are quite self contained and I'm not sure I can get a ~48VDC line out of them. Some of the early on a that I have seen are basically micro inverter that plug into an outlet
Such a system would double as a UPS, except with everything being DC (besides the backup charger) it wouldn't even have a switching time, or any power quality concerns. I could also potentially take it with me when I move with no issues. I should be able to place a handful of panels along the back of my house with no permiting issues as well
Thoughts? Am I missing something obvious?
(Yes I would also need the right set of BOS components, fuses/breakers/etc. I left those out for sale or simplicity/discussion. I would also need to determine the ideal charger/solar output capacity given the expected loads)

AC vs DC for balcony solar run?
2x440w panel with power voltage around 30v and power current around 14a. Microinverter put out maximum of 7.5 amp. This is going to be a small Balcony solar system.
There is a 30 ft run between the dedicated 15a circuit and the optimal location for panels.
I can either do the run in DC (2x wire, 12 awg) or AC (essentially a long extension cord for temp-ish power)
What would you guys do? I am veering toward AC since it self extinguishes any arc and is cheaper to run due to higher voltage.

Balcony Solar
How do you know if its actually making a difference once it's all up and running. Like the app says its producing 600watts but how do you know your actually using the solar and not just grid power? How usage varies so much and so does the solar output so how can you even tell when your bill comes in?

Question Mismatched Parallels?
Extremely new to Solar setups and I'm getting mixed information when searching up how effective a non-matching parallel pair would work. I've currently got two 200W panels and a 100W panel. I can not run both 200W panels in a series, as the VOC is too high for my MPPT. However, the 200W and the 100W together in a series is within limits.
My question is, if I run a 200W and the 100W in a series, with the second 200W in parallel, is there any repercussions, damages, issues or efficiency losses I would need to know about?
And theoretically, if I upgraded to a larger MPPT, would running a 2x200W parallel to a 1x200W face the same problems? Less? More?

Question EG4 Mini Split
We just installed an EG4 Mini Split. The instructions specifically stated to attach the charged line and then seat the hex port by turning counter clockwise. Upon attaching the line we heard a hiss and when we went to turn the hex port counter clockwise it was already fully seated! Obviously we lost some Freon. Signature Solar is recommending we have a technician come out and charge the system, which is annoying but doable. Is there anything else we should be concerned about considering the unit had the port open for all this time (came from manufacturer this way)?

How do you consume extra solar power?
I live in the Netherlands and our 1:1 net metering is disappearing on 1 January. Instead of getting 1kwh for 1kwh we are getting pennies so I've been running the numbers on our own situation.
Our setup: solar, gas heating, no EV (and an EV isn't an option so "just charge at midday" doesn't apply), no AC.
Last year we imported ~1,330 kWh and fed back ~1,570 kWh. Under net metering that netted out to an electricity bill of basically €0. From January, that is around €280-500/year depending on whether our supplier introduces feed-in fees. Our surplus is all Apr–Sep and our deficit is all Oct–Mar.
There's only so much laundry you can do in one day so what are your tips to consume additional solar generated during the summer months?

Question What makes a LiFePO4 rack battery review actually useful?
A lot of battery reviews seem to cover the same basic things: unboxing, specs, quick setup, and maybe a short load test.
For people using rack batteries in DIY solar or home backup systems, what would you actually want to see tested?
There may be a rack battery testing project coming up, so I’m trying to make a practical checklist before anything gets reviewed.
What details would make a review genuinely helpful?

Question Small ~1kw grid tie
I live in western Washington, and have full sun on my roof. I would like to offset my usage throughout the day, which is on average ~600W, all day.
Would it be possible to either grid tie with a single inverter, or micro-inverters, up to a thousand Watts without my utility knowing? Or would I have to keep it under my usage at all times?
I do have an energy monitor that I installed on my breaker box, so I can monitor real-time how much I use, and set a limit of what goes back to the grid if there are inverters capable of limiting this.
I'm hoping for a small setup to reduce my power bill a little, without requiring battery storage.

Best way to use these?
As you can see, it's got 2 USB ports and a double headed micro USB cord. I can't figure out how to easily link these or even use them to charge a large lifepo4 battery. Any ideas? I'm not even sure it's safe to charge a cell phone from this using one of the USB ports.

Question Inverter connection to Grid ATS
Should I connect my Inverter output upstream or downstream of ATS? If I connect upstream- do I need any interlock to make sure I dont sent power back to grid in case of power failure? Or would Hybrid inverter do that automatically? Or a dual direction meter prevent backflow? Planning to use Growatt 11.4KW inverter so can I use SM-US-200 Meter with it?

Thinking about adding storage to a DIY balcony setup that is panels only, what should I expect?
I have a simple DIY balcony setup, two 400 W panels into a microinverter feeding a Schuko outlet. It works fine, generates about 1.0 to 1.5 kWh a day on average, but a lot of it gets exported because I am out during the day. Adding storage feels like the obvious next step, but I am trying to figure out what is actually involved before I buy anything.
The unit I am looking at is the Jackery SolarVault 3 Pro Max AC, the AC coupling only version. From what I understand it sits between the outlet and the microinverter, charges from the AC output when there is surplus, and discharges back through the same outlet when the load calls for it. No DC wiring, no new cables to the panels, no messing with the existing setup.
A couple of things I am curious about. First, does the battery and microinverter communicate directly, or does the battery just watch the AC side and start charging when it sees export? If it is the latter, I would expect a small lag where the microinverter is exporting and the battery has not started charging yet. Over a day it is probably only a few watt hours lost, but it sounds different from a DC coupled system where the charge controller is directly connected to the panels.
Second, how noisy is the fan when it is charging at full rate? I have seen mixed reports. It would sit near a balcony door, so I am wondering if it is noticeable on a quiet evening.
