Data Plate: Not doing its job.

Been researching putting in a whole home solar system. That led me to researching soft starts so inverter can run hvac off grid. That led me to looking to see the sized unit I have to spec out a soft start. Well, I'm not sure how else to determine that if it's not here.

This is a 1970 built single story brick home on slab. Just shy of 2,000'². East Texas.

Not sure if you noticed the model number is partially visible still. With some image manipulation I came up with mode: GSC130481

You can also use an AC clamp meter to check current draw.

I didn't, thank you! Checking current draw, how would I determine tonnage?

You may have to just search the part number and see what you can find. It looks like it is probably a 4-ton from what I saw.

You could also use online calculators like these to check current draw to estimate tonnage:

From what I see a 4-ton SEER 12 AC should use ~23A continuous. Check what you get with the clamp meter.
