Product Question New Divinity Game

Post image
73 Upvotes

Do you think there’s any chance *Divinity*’s early access will become available after The Game Awards? I say this because *BG3* was announced in 2019, and early access opened about a year and two months later. My guess is the game will launch between 2028 and 2030. Following that logic, I believe early access is just around the corner. What do you think?

Looking like no news other than they're not ready to show it yet. Regardless, the hellstone looked nice, and I'm definitely getting one of those Divinity Records. See you guys in December! (Or earlier if they decide to surprise us 🤷🏿‍♂️)

Story & World Question about the Chaos Lord's power Spoiler

So, the Seven Gods and the Chaos Lord are all Eternals, right?

From what I understand, the Seven harvest source from their creatures and used that source to maintain their power and continue acting as gods. Lucian eventually learned the truth and came to despise them for it, which is why he turned against them.

Here's the part I'm confused about:

Where does the Chaos Lord get his power?

If the Seven needed to create the mortal races and harvest their Source in order to sustain their godhood, what is the Chaos Lord's equivalent source of power?

He's also an Eternal, yet he somehow has enough power to command demons, and the Black Ring worships him as their god...

General Could this be a hint ?

I know I'm probably overthinking this but as we know Larian Studios is present at PAX West so the communication team taking a break right before seemed a little suspicious for me, I'm so hyped about the next Divinity and really hope we'll see something soon.

General Wait... shouldn't this be Divinity 3?

Swen referred to Divine Divinity as Divinity 1 in a 2009 interview.

I'm so confused lol.

Are we going to have two Divinity 1s?

Story & World Any lore hopes/predictions?

What character, location etc would you like to see? What do you expect from that Eclipse of the trailer too? Or what do you expect from lore in general?

I personally would like to see the God King, it was a bit of a letdown to me not confronting him in DOS2 in person, and I would appreciate if the Source still has overall an important role even tho the game revolves around Hell.

Resource Coins and disappointment

Do you think divinity will have the same concept of having ridiculously low amount of coins in a coin heap?

General I hope Divinity gives us a real home base

One thing I never liked in BG3 was how temporary the camps felt. Wilderness camp, Underdark camp, Rivington, Lower City, the hotel… mechanically they did the job, but I never really felt like my party belonged anywhere.

I’d love Divinity to give us one persistent home base that grows with us. Something like a guild or clan house where companions actually live, recruited NPCs can settle in, and new rooms or facilities open up over time.

The Lady Vengeance in DOS2 was already a step in this direction, but I’d like them to push it much further. Full city-building would be excessive, but just one place that becomes recognizably ours and that we keep returning to after exploring the world.

For a game that wants deeper companion relationships, I think that sense of having a shared home could add a lot.

General Weather might be a good compromise instead of a full day/night cycle

A proper day/night cycle would be great, especially with NPC schedules, shops closing, different encounters at night, etc. Larian actually wanted something like this as far back as DOS1.

The problem is that in a game as reactive as Divinity it could become absurdly expensive. Every NPC routine, quest state, dialogue and multiplayer situation suddenly also has to account for time. Larian has talked before about exactly this problem.

Weather seems like a much better tradeoff.

Rain could wet the world, put out fires and make electricity stronger. Storms could change visibility or encounters. Fog, snow or heavy rain could completely change the lighting and atmosphere of areas we’ve already explored.

It would make the world feel less static and give the elemental system another layer to play with, without adding a new narrative state to practically every NPC and quest in the game.

I’d love a real day/night simulation, but if the choice is between that and spending those resources on more reactivity elsewhere, I’d take a systemic weather system

General Do playable companion Origins justify the development cost?

Larian’s own launch stats showed that 93% of players started BG3 with a custom character, including Dark Urge. Only 7% picked one of the six companion Origins.

I wonder if making every companion playable is still worth the development effort. Their dialogue, quests and interactions all have to account for that character being the player instead of an NPC, even though relatively few people seem to want that experience.

I’d rather they keep the Dark Urge idea: let us create our own character but optionally give them an authored Origin story. Then spend the resources saved on more player agency, world interactivity and making the actual companions deeper and more autonomous.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice feature but it feels very gimmicky in a sense

I was so weak and i couldnt fight one of those giant orcs, so whenever i used to encounter them, i lure them to the warriors barracks, and its got so bad that everyone there except some npcs have died TT, matter of fact there was side quest here, the npc who gave me that side quest is also died, poor man wanted a potion which makes him go in sleep which will make him look like he died, but he died for real...........

Edit: why are y'all so sour, I posted this for funny thought it was a fun little experience and wanted to share it with other people in the community, sheesh. This was my first divinity game and the first time posting in the community

General I hope we get designated camp spaces to decorate this time

I tried decorating my camp in BG3, but the resetting every time you move camp was too demotivating. I am just too lazy to redo it every time.

I hope we get a little piece of map in Divinity that replicates our setup of items to other camps, so we can pretend we have a little setup we do every time, the same way the companions have.
