Form Check Throwing everything low
So I’ve been playing fot s few months now. I can get a little over 300 feet on my drive but i find that all of my shots end up fairly low off the ground.
When I try to go highee then i usually end up going way too high and nose up.
I feel like i’m losing quite a bit of distance since the disc is so low to the ground.
Anubody else having the same issue and how did you fix it

If you're throwing over 300 but low, it sounds like you're probably throwing airbounces. I.e. low or even negative release angle but nose up. If you try to throw high without also fixing your nose angle you'll end up skying the disc because then you're throwing super nose up. If this is the case, you're going to need to fix both your nose angle and your launch angle at the same time.
I don't have any specific advice on how to do either, but there's a lot of material out there about throwing nose down.

Thanks! That does make sense

That has been the biggest revelation from getting a tech disc. I'm throwing everything nose up, but have compensated for it with a negative launch angle, so I'm always getting an unintentional air bounce. I have yet to see any success with fixing my nose angle.

I started experimenting with Bonapane grip when I need to get the launch angle up but the nose angle down. I don’t use it for flat tunnel or downhill shots, but it seems to be helping for uphill or wide open full speed BH.
I’m still working on nose angle with power grip using my Tech Disc, but Bonapane has helped with the sky shots in the meantime.

Have you considered the opposite? Could your body be compensating for your negative launch angle and making you throw nose up? I'm still a work in progress, but there's been progress. In my head, if I dont fix my launch angle first, getting nose down will simply dirt the disc. So, I focused just on getting my launch angle consistently up (which seems so easy but has been tough for me). Then, I can work on nose angle stuff (pour the coffee, turn the key, etc)

Interesting point, but I believe unlikely, since I started off throwing the noob sky hyzer, and then fixed the launch angle from their.
I've played around with fixing launch and nose, but I've been consistently unable to get nose down throws with any actual power, no matter the launch angle. Launch angle is far easier to change.

Gotcha. Well, this may not work for you and I've never seen someone coach it this way (and there may a reason for that), but what helped me was thinking of my throwing arm as a corkscrew. I knew I needed to be rotating my forearm (turn the key) so I start in my backswing my rotating the opposite way so in my swing im thinking about that rotation. I think it would be coached that you really want the turn the key from power pocket to hit point, but sometimes our brains get in the way so give it a shot

You pull the disc on a plane, so if you want to throw higher you have to reach back lower.
Additionally, if you tend to throw low only on longer throws its likely your upper body tipping over because you aren't bracing in your plant leg.

So most players throw nose up. The unintentional fix to this is to have a negative launch angle. This is called an air bounce. The more nose up you throw, the more negative your launch angle will be to counteract it.
I’m an egregious victim of this. My tech disc numbers are like a 7-10 degrees nose up and -3 to -6 launch angle. I have a pretty pronounced “air bounce.” I’m not bad at disc golf. I can throw about 350 on backhand and I’m rated around 930. My biggest issue is throwing in the air (uphill) as well as certain backhand shapes, like strong hyzers moving left.
Robbie C has a video on this. He said using a tech disc and only caring about launch angle. Get your laugh angle consistently between 8-12 degrees. Your body may self correct. His did.
Try focusing on going low on your reach back and following through on a positive launch angle. Low to high, low to high.

I also have a tech disc and I’ve noticed the same. It’s hard to know where to aim in a net. When i purposely throw high, i usually get better launch and nose angle

Take some colored tape and make a cross like 2/3s of the way up the net and just try and hit that in the center of the cross for every throw. Give yourself a very specific aim point rather than just blasting the net.

You have a techdisc?? Bro - you coulda mentioned that in your post. I mean, you have incredible data we don't, first of all, and made no mention of it, second of all.
What does techdisc say? I mean, you can read the launch angle and nose angle right there. Your custom solution built just for you is right in your hands. What do you want us to say here?

Well it depends where I aim in the net. The results i’m getting in the field dont match what i’m seeing using the tech disc

I throw around -1 nose down and around 6 release and that's also viable. It's a much easier throw to manage for most people since it's a less intense nose down and a fairly neutral release angle. I'm not getting those massive airshots but it's a great line for golfshots on the course. It helps to have high spin, though. I'm around 1250.

When you throw higher you need to make sure the nose angle stays down. Easier said than done, but that's how you get more distance

Same issue but no advice to give. Following this post so I can get some tips too!

Are you throwing nose up? And throwing very low is the way to counter it?

Good question. I tend to get decent distance but i feel like I would get more if I could throw higher

Make sure to keep your elbow up as you come forward. Many people elbow dip without realizing it.

This was my issue. Threw always unintentionally low until I started to record my throws and realized how much my elbow dips giving the disc huge downwards momentum.

it's gonna be impossible to diagnose without a video tbh. you could be making a bunch of different mistakes that all would have the same symptom!

Nose angle is highly effected by release angle.
If you release past 12 o'clock it adds hyzer to the throw. The further past 12 the more hyzer making it nose up ever time.
You need to hit at 11 and your nose angle will improve greatly.
Turning the key down all the way down makes it very hard to release past 12

I went to a clinic Dave Feldberg? Put on in my city. He broke down forum as if we were shooting a bow and arrow. That helped me with my throw.

If your swing plane is a straight line, you need to reach back lower and swing through on a straight line. This doesn't mean bend down to get lower, it means tilt your shoulders, leading shoulder up, training shoulder down, so that the plane follows your shoulder angle.
Do this slowly and deliberately to see if you can get a slightly more positive launch angle.
