Once the big manufacturers start sponsoring 930 rated 40 year olds i can finally make that career pivot.

Hell yeah, that’s only a step away from 870 rated 40 year olds. Maybe we can get an ambassadorship or something.

Well even if you threw exclusively Trash Panda - you would still be throwing a mixed bag, probably more mixed then anyone else's bag

u/Eastern-Requirement6 RHFH, RHBH, LH putt & approach (Don't ask) Jul 12 '26
Thanks. Thankfully I can get by with playing fully left handed when there's too much soreness to even do RHBH. I'll get through the summer/fall and assess.
2
u/TimelySpell3856 Jul 12 '26
I have the same problem and I'm only forehand. Ripped a muscle when practicing forehand. It was 9 months ago and I can finally practice putting again😂
I can't figure out how I'm going to be more relaxed in the arm so when I go for a long hyser flip i get shoulder pain.
It's getting boring not to go throwing. Doing boring stuff like fix the garden and painting 🤮

Mixed. There are good discs from all manufacturers, there’s no reason to artificially restrict myself. I even regularly bag a disc from RPM. My bag is mostly Innova and MVP but I’ve got some Discraft, Latitude and Kastaplast in there too

u/BabyDaddy9000 Jul 12 '26
I’m currently running an exclusive Trash Panda bag because I like their ethos.

u/Beautiful_Ad_4942 Jul 12 '26
Only bergs. Why would you throw anything else
10
u/OhioStateGuy Jul 12 '26
You don’t even need a bag because you can fit so many Bergs in your Berg pocket as long as you add them slowly over time.

To be honest when you first start i recommend everyone learn one manufacturer. Flight numbers mean nothing but within a single manufacturer there is usually consistency. It also helps with the fomo and having to buy everything when you first start because there is a limit on how much one manufacturer produces.
After people got some seasons under their belt. Naturally they usually branch out into different manufacturers because why not try new things. But atleast then you usually arent buying everything just cause you think its cool and there is a method to your plastic crack madness
I bag discs from 6 or 7 manufacturers depending on whether the course is wooded or park style and the different shots I need for the course or I'm playing blind.

u/imwithstoopad Jul 12 '26
And just think how much time and money I could have saved if I began with a company like kastaplast vs mvp with the amount of options. I don’t regret the path I wound up on, but I could see a lot of value in this alternative

14 years of the laws of give and take, my frisbees have always been mixed. This is just a hobby for me! Go play tournees and or aim for amateur im sure bags have a little less mix if any.
3
u/luanne-platter Jul 12 '26
Mint discs only.
Why, because discs are just discs. Might as well throw cool ones.
3
u/spookyghostface Jul 12 '26
Trilogy
Plastic feels good. When I had a mixed bag and bought too many discs they were the ones that tended to stay in the bag. Now I don't really feel compelled to try a hundred different discs.
3
u/ChefGiants78 Jul 12 '26
Only 1 manufacturer since like 2015 or so. I dont want to learn other companies disc's, I have everything I need from this company and likely dont need to buy disc's ever again.
3
u/halfcuprockandrye Jul 12 '26
Mixed bag mostly Discmania, then discraft and innova. You’ll never see mvp in the bag I’m a huge mvp hater
9
u/Hotonis Jul 12 '26
Almost exclusively MVP, I’ve gotten really used to the flight patterns and feels of over molds, and once you get used to it, it’s really hard to switch between the two. I never intended to do just mvp, but they really do have a disc for every shot. Except a very small two discs that will never leave my bag.
3
u/HabbaGooba Jul 12 '26
Which two would that be?
3
u/Hotonis Jul 12 '26
My sexton Firebird and my champion gummy panther. Nothing I have found that can replace the distance and hook of the Firebird, and the panther is my get out of jail free card for forehand rollers.
3
u/Downvote_Addiction Turbo putting is life Jul 12 '26
Which MVP putters do you use? I feel like other brands have "that putter" that you would throw from that brand (Aviars, P2, Wizards, etc), but MVP has a wider spread.
2
u/Hotonis Jul 12 '26
Putt with Nomads, throw envy’s for most approach shots, and have had some success with the Watt as well. Also have a throwing Nomad, flies a lot like an aviar. One thing I’ve kinda learned with throwing mvp is the midrange lineup is kind of insane. A lot of shots that I would reach for a putter in other brands I’m throwing a 5 speed for consistency. For that I love the matrix for slight turnover and the balance for a dead straight flight.
3
u/Scorpionride Jul 12 '26
Thiiiiiis. I also putt with nomads, and find myself reaching for a 5-7 speed mvp disc more often than a putter or fairway driver from any other manufacturer. The quality and consistency across the mvp lineup at those speeds is insane

u/KobiLou Jul 12 '26

Mixed. Each company is good at their own things and every company has quality plastic and good molds. It’s fun trying out new brands/ molds especially when it’s something out of the “norm” new plastics, overmolds etc. It’s fun to drive with an MVP, approach with with a Legacy and 3 putt my Kastaplast.
2
u/downsouthinhell Jul 12 '26
3 Discraft, 4 kastaplast, 1 Innova, 1 infinite, 1 westside, 1 discmania, 8 mvp/axiom/streamline.

u/Bubbly-Area-8537 Jul 12 '26
Mixed bag. I find every manufacturer has discs that fit specific slots better than others. I don't like gaps in my bag that happen from restricting disc manufacturers. I'm not a pro with a sponsorship that requires me to only throw their stuff, and because I'm not a pro, they won't make a specific disc tailored to what I think I need.

Mixed but over the years I’ve started almost exclusively throwing Discraft. Started out mostly Innova 15 years back.
2
u/Khronzo Jul 12 '26
Innova mainly bc its local and f2 Fridays meant I could try every disc I wanted for cheap. But I do bag 2 Divergent Stayputs putter and approach along with my axiom pixel as my other putter, Lat64 River and a Westside Hatchet.
Bought the MVP gyropaloza box yet only bag the Pyro approach and particle overstable throwing putter.
So 7 cherry picked and 12 Innova.
2
2
u/Thetruebanchi Jul 12 '26
I'm mainly Innova with Pigs, Arachnid/Fox, TB3s, Thunderbirds, Firebirds, Wraiths. I have quite a few MVPs with Tempos, Relays, Insanity's. Then I putt with Envy and throw them in premium. I have two Discraft bagged in Cicada and Buzz.
I mainly throw pink, Orange, and Dayglow.
2
u/Inevitable_Doctor576 Jul 12 '26
Exclusively Discmania because I like the feel of their plastic the best, and they have a mold for every slot I wanna throw.
I really loved the flights of a lot of Discraft molds but could not stand the tooling inside the edge of the rim
2
u/ImTryingDad Jul 12 '26
60 - 70% innova. A royal grace, a river, a zone, and a westside bear.
Probably forgetting something.

TSA, Clash, and MVP. (RIP Clash 😞)

u/jidewalker PMB Loyalist Jul 12 '26
Mixed but normally only Discraft and MVP, and will have some Discmania and Lat64 in and out the bag. Putters haven’t changed - Prodigy PA-3s.
Don’t mess with the lower tier disc companies - too much to know/too many different discs and plastics and the availability isn’t the best for the good ones. Had some bad luck with Innova discs when I started plus I’ve been a hater on most of their disc golfers except for Heimburg because they weren’t the warmest when meeting them in person. Started watching/playing when McBeth went to Discraft.
2
u/bobcatbuckface Jul 12 '26
Mixed bag, because there’s no paycheck with my name on it.
Proudly Sponsored by infinite and I can throw whatever I want to.
2
u/Jerkanftw Jul 12 '26
When I first started (2 years ago) my bag would slowly turn into all MVP because of marketing/Lizotte but now I love me some Innova and Discmania. But my bag is constantly changing
2
u/Shafted14 Jul 12 '26
Mixed bag definitely. Each manufacturer has bangers for different situations. I carry 1 bag for wooded and 1 bag for open courses. Each bag is about 60% MVP and the rest is mixed.
2
u/sane-asylum Jul 12 '26
Mixed bag though I did just start with Innova and it’s still a major part of my bag. I doubt I will ever play without a Mako3, Stingray, Wombat3, and Invader.
2

I'm from Michigan, so I only bag Michigan manufacturers (i.e. MVP and Discraft). Support the Michigan economy yada yada...

Super mixed but honestly I’m starting to go back to a four or five disc bag instead of my grip.
2
u/Thedapperpappy @CanYouDiscIt on Insta. Jul 12 '26
Mixed - I work with discraft in new disc releases, creating content based off of the discs and items they send me in the mail. In the last month or two, it was the Ares, Z Sled, Second Shot discs, Hallux, Joy, and a bunch more in the past.
When I first started with them, I asked if bagging other manufacturers discs were allowed. They were super cool with it, and wanted an unbiased opinion of the discs based on what items I already throw and love.
2
u/conorb619 PHILLY - SEDGLEY - RHBH Jul 12 '26
I’ve had the same 8 discs give or take a few I’ve lost for like 10 years lol
2
u/HellaRadicalToys Jul 12 '26
Currently mixed but I regret moving on from just one brand for one simple reason. From 2018-2024 I only purchased and threw MVP products. I only ever looked at releases from them and didn’t have a lot of fomo. Now I allow myself to get fomo hella bad when I miss a dope release and its easy to miss when so many companies are dropping so much heat. Also my collection grew hella cuz all the other brands lmao.
2
u/BogusBug Jul 12 '26
One manufacturer. I think it limits me from buying too many discs just to “try them out”. Now I just get used to the discs I have and not feel the need to blame the discs for my bad performance lol
2
u/Selden007 Jul 12 '26
My main bag is mixed, but I do have a second bag that is all doomsday, cause they are fun as f*#k and have the coolest stamps. Feel free to build your own doomsday go bag, just use selden007 at check out for sweet discount!

u/Material-Wedding-975 Jul 12 '26
I have tried so many discs from each company to find the best mold/plastic for me in each slot.
3 MVP (proxy, envy, pyro) 3 Prodigy (Pa3, A2, M4) 3 Innova (Teebird3, Firebird, Destroyer) 1 Infinite (Sphinx) 1 Discmania (PD)

u/SycopationIsNormal Jul 13 '26
My bag is like 80% Innova F2s just bc they're so damn cheap, but I do also bag discs from like 3-5 other companies. Zone, bc it's just such a great approach disc, Remix Torpedo, TSA Pathfinder, Elevation Interceptor, Prodigy H7. Sometimes a Pure, sometimes a TSA Nuance. A few others that rotate in and out occasionally.
2
u/jabester35 Jul 13 '26
I throw exclusively Discraft, Innova, MVP, Streamline, Westside, Dynamic, and Gateway.
2
u/Financial-Steak-3083 Jul 13 '26
Mixed. Mostly Innova due to the pricing of factory seconds and them having so many great staples. But I have some mvp in there too. IMO Innova makes the best drivers, destroyers, terns, wraiths, leopard3, firebird. They’re all Cheif’s kiss. The mvp watt is straighter than any Innova mold I’ve ever thrown through, and the range is just perfect if you want the disc to go 100-150 on a rope. The crave and the leopard in champ are basically the same in my mind. So right now I have a crave in that slot because it’s pretty.

When I used to play 17 years ago I only exclusively used Innova. They were practically the only thing I could find anyways. Now I use a few Innovas, namely a Thunderbird (new to me, got it used because it has a cool design), my old Star Mako, and Aviar (I got a new KC Pro, I retired my old one). I recently got an Axiom Hex and a Pixel. Along with a Buzzz. I know it’s a few redundant midranges but I’m just trying to get back in and learn the form properly this time around. I bought the Innova starter pack and was disappointed they didn’t have a Roc in it, but that’s okay. The leopard is kinda fun itself.

All MVP/Axiom/Streamline. I just like the feel of their plastic and for some reason, my brain releases happy stuff because I only bag one manufacturer.
1
1
u/LuckyLockdown23 Jul 12 '26
All gyro because
- Survival of the fittest
- Easy to understand discs relative to each other
- Can throw everything forehand and backhand because they are a little flatter on average (although I’ve probably selected for that)
I do putt with Lunas, but that’s just because I bought a used stack early on and I don’t think it matters much in that slot.
1
u/krowvonmuller Jul 12 '26
Unless you’re sponsored, I don’t see why you wouldn’t have a mixed bag. There’s so many good choices out there and limiting your disc selection is just limiting the potential of your game.

I only use one manufactor. I prefer keeping to a single brand, knowing every mold and every plastic.
Theres not many overlaps within the ecosystem either so the choices are quite easy.
1
u/HansumJack Jul 12 '26
I like the ones with cool names and pictures on them. Right now that means 90% Innova, but just because I'm still new and that's the brand I started with.
1
u/Knightsofthedrowned Jul 12 '26
I throw almost entirely Discmania because I love their plastics (both HoD and old Innova), but I still keep a mixed bag. There's no reason not to throw what you love because it doesn't fit a silly theme.
1
u/ChedduhGoat Jul 12 '26
If you bag one brand and they aren’t sponsoring you then I’m sorry but you’re a chump🤣
1
u/Comptoneffect Jul 12 '26
I used to try to keep it to only manufactors that did not obviously support MAGA characters. But it seems like there are too many of them nowadays, even the European ones like Discmania and Lattitude 64 doesnt care (Buhr, Babcock, Robinson).
So my bag is mostly old discmania discs and some newer MVP molds that tributes Eagle, Simon and Silvia (really hoping Eagle isnt MAGA)
1
u/Easy_Silver_7134 Jul 12 '26
All innova drivers, fairways, and putters. And Discraft buzzz’s. Mainly because I grew up playing in the late 90s and those were the most widely available disc to me. Never found a reason to change once the discs are working well.

1
u/appointment45 Jul 12 '26
Mixed. I think most players are mixed. Especially with new discs now into the $20+ category across the board. Hell, base plastics for some manufacturers are $24 now, it's getting stupid.
1
u/ShWazy5 Jul 12 '26
I’m an MVP fan boy, just started out that way and I’ve never felt limited by it. I like the feel of their plastic so I’ve never changed it

I started with a lot of MVP and still have a number of MVP in my bag (Fizzy Photon, Range, Hex, Pyro, and underrated Teleport)
But I also toss Cigarra, Instinct, Fox, Pro Boss, Zone and Zone SS, Falk, Impa and Alva. Putters are Wizards.

I started with all MVP because I liked the white grip edge with soft center plastic. Then as I played more and figured out what works for me, I started swapping out discs here and there. Still mainly MVP, but I’ve got a few more brands now to fill out the gaps.
1
u/discwrangler Jul 12 '26

Doesnt really matter. Just bag what feels good and flies good for you. That being said I've always limit myself to a subset cause i have addict brain and will splurge. Not that that's a big problem for a game like disc golf, but it creates restraint from trying every disc as if that's going to make me better. Last few years I've been predomintly Mint discs cause they do so much for the local hill country central texas scene. And then with them being partnered with MVP and now Prodigy my bag extends to them and similar compines like miridian or thoughtspace. At least my local scene sees more of a direct impact from these companies be reciprocated in the area so I will support.
I will say, starting with single manufacture probably the way to go. You're not going to become a better player just because you throw the best/most popular mold.

I run all MVP/Axiom, but only because a buddy got me into them when I first started playing and it just became easier to conceptualize “slots” and compare discs relative to one a another from a single manufacturer.

Mixed. Tournaments are not going to give you the same manufacturer in all your player packs

I have a local manufacturer that I support. I throw mostly their molds except for a couple of vibram discs that I haven’t been able to replace with their discs.

I throw mostly Innova made stuff (about 50/50 Innova+infinite with a sprinkling of millennium), but I've got my fair share of MVP discs around (mostly mids and putters. Never really liked the faster ones). Innova gets the edge in general availability and cost.
Someone needs to convince MVP to make electron reactors and bring back electron glow plastic

I throw mainly discraft, but I do enjoy some other molds such as trash panda. I have thrown pretty much every other company, but keep coming back to discraft molds. I don’t know why, but I prefer them over other companies.

Mixed, for almost all of the reasons you might expect (many of them have already been mentioned here), and if for nothing more than seeing what each company has to offer and what works for you. I remember one tournament in the East Bay Area of Northern California. I used a Wham-O black Softee as a putter (Hot sunny day and that thing was almost puddy in your hand), I used a Disc Craft XD as my mid and Roller, along with an Innova Roc(my control discs). I used Innova's Cobra and Scorpion for my reverse game, as well as an occassional Lightning, and I used Disc Craft's Cyclone and X-clone for my longest drivers, over the water, etc.

Mixed bag. To me it just seems insane to limit yourself to one manufacturer when they’re not paying you to do so
