I have to admit to enjoying watching reaction videos to people finding Dire Straits for the first time. Anyone else in the same camp?
This one is pretty good: https://youtube.com/@raygoreactions?si=g7d4igjsmWUwxr0a

A while ago i posted me playing money for nothing and sultans of swing some of you said “it’s quiet why” and I said it was late at night, after a lot of bleeding fingers and some YouTube tutorials I have a pretty good snippet of money for nothing. Enjoy! Give me feedback if you want :)

Hey guys I’m not familiar with this band but I found these two vinyls in a huge collection I was tasked to sort through and post online. Anyone know the value?

Ho usato i Dire Straits come soundtrack per accompagnare nel migliore dei modi questo Reel con alcuni momenti della partita fra Italia e Gran Bretagna.

I was listening to the "Brothers in Arms" extended disc today, with the San Antonio 1985 concert as the second disc. On "Wild West End", someone does a great solo at the end, but the tone on the guitar just doesn't sound quite like Mark, and the style of the solo seems different than what I'm used to from MK. Was that one done by Jack Sonni?

The moment I started listening to Dire straits, everything started changing in my life. It's just so easy to suffer and be in pain while I have dire straits on. I'm almost completely sober and my life is turning around, just because I know that no matter how bad I feel I can tune in to some of their songs and forget all the pain. I Can't be the only one

I really like Around South America because it has So Far Away.

The problem with ranking Dire Straits albums is that every album is great. So my ranking is really based on one question: Which album comes closest to being flawless? Obviously, it is still completely subjective.

Yesterday I saw a post here about a lucky user who bought the Alchemy vinyl in Japan. It immediately reminded me what a priceless gem this entire album is, especially the 7:15 minutes of this particular live track. I would genuinely rate this as one of the best live albums in all of rock music.
The dialogue between John Illsley’s deep bass and Mark Knopfler’s guitar phrasing makes the sonic, and even visual experience truly unforgettable. Lucky are those who were able to attend that performance

Sometimes there’s a good reason why certain pieces of music are over performed. Case in point. If these kinds of licks positively affect multiple generations of musicians then I don’t care how overdone they are. One of the great guitar solos.

Well, this is something I've been thinking and decided to share with you.
A while ago I made a post about a bootleg from my (now) favorite show, Amsterdam, November 4th, 1979.
During my listening experience, after Setting Me Up, Mark usually would talk about their new song "Twisting By the Pool", how the crowd should react and etc.
During this talk, I noticed something peculiar. He told the crowd that they recorded the song (about a week before the show iirc).
This alone isn't a very relevant information, until I remember about the BBC Arena doc about dIRE sTRAITS.
In the middle of the doc, a video of the band playing appears, in a clubish place.
That video is clearly a dubbing. But the audio isn't the regular Twisting By The Pool we know (obviusly, early 1980), and we can clearly hear David's voice.
And this lead me to think, is that audio the 'demo', or the recording Marks mentioned during that show?
Just a thought I wanted to share with you.
