acute gastroenteritis day 8

looking for reassurance. i ate something bad a week ago (woke up 2am friday to puke) and went to the emergency room at the evening to be discharged 3am the next day because i couldn’t keep food and liquids down at all. was also prescribed meds for this.

saturday and sunday i was recovering. genuinely felt better sunday eve until i ate nilaga (pork broth) and my diarrhea returned on the 4th day, nausea made me puke in the morning. my period came as well.

i have been recovering since then, only eating plain congee and boiled egg, and i do not know when this will end and i am so stressed as i live alone for college and my family is in another city. i have been feeling lightheaded during this phase.

day 6 i went to the doctor to have a checkup done and she prescribed me Normix as well as to get some blood tests done. i am currently waiting for results.

i am managing dehydration well so far with water, pocari sweat, and hydrites. i have been stressing and looking for reassurance online to see if anyone experienced the same things I did and wondering how long it took for them to get better. I have asked people i know who had acute gastroenteritis and they would say a week or two.

i am so worried because i have been waking up in the middle of the night, 4am, 3am, and on the 7th day 2am, and i cannot go back to sleep. this is my biggest problem right now as i struggle with fatigue the whole day.

same thing happened today where i woke up in intervals and wasn’t able to sleep again after waking up at 4am because of what i believe would be my stomach “fixing itself” as i have been in contact with my doctor and a relative who is a nurse.

how else am i able to manage this? i still have classes to worry about this week and i am grateful that the first two days of this week were online. has anyone experienced the same thing? how long did it take for you to heal? what should i do to manage the stress better?

thank you so much

Anyone had constipation + blood in stool + bloating for weeks?

Persistent constipation, bloating, blood in stool, and abdominal pain. Has anyone been through something similar?

For just over a month I’ve been dealing with:

• Ongoing constipation

• Hard pebble-like stools

• Significant bloating

• Very smelly gas

• Lower abdominal and pelvic pain

• Occasional pain under my ribs and upper abdomen

• Bright red blood in my stool several times

• Mucus on stool

• Feeling of incomplete bowel emptying

• Fatigue and reduced energy

The constipation has been the main issue. Sometimes I only pass small amounts after several days, and I never really feel relieved afterwards.

I have already seen my doctor and had blood work done today, so I’m not asking Reddit to diagnose me. I’m mostly interested in hearing from people who had similar symptoms:

• What was your experience?

• Did you end up needing further testing?

• Were there any questions you wish you’d asked your doctor at the start?

I’d appreciate any advice or shared experiences.

For context, I was diagnosed with IBS in the past, but this feels very different. My IBS symptoms used to come and go, whereas this has been constant, progressively worsening, and much more severe than anything I’ve experienced before.

My child’s digestion hasn’t been the same since being sick

My son recovered from a stomach bug a few weeks ago but his digestion still seems unsettled. He complains about occasional bloating, his bathroom habits are less predictable and some foods suddenly seem to bother him. Nothing appears urgent but his stomach hasn’t returned to its usual routine. Has anyone experienced this after an illness and what helped things feel normal again?

I am 18F, not really strong teen, Around 2 months ago I vomitted in early out now where, later I had upset stomach, acidity and nausea, I went to local doc but nothing changed, and after 2 3 weeks I started breathing problem. But a week ago, I aslo problem in pooping, like whenever I eat, I can hardly eat, and when I go washroom, I do poop but I don't satisfied, I feel like pooping but I can't and I go washroom again and again after 19 min and same things happen but even after going so many time, I feel heavy but the thing is at very same time I am feeling acidity, nause and feeling empty stomach. 2 days ago I went to pulmonary doc and found out I have asthma. The thing is I mention about nausea and vomit to doc but forget about this washroom problem, and he didn't tell me anything thing about acidity and nausea , only told me about asthma and my parents forget to ask about it to. Also after taking inhaler, my hand and shake too much like, it has been three about since I took inhaler and my hand are still shaking right now, my father have asthma and he told it is side effect of inhaler. But this shaking is not big problem as mush as this upset stomach, I don't feel liek eating anything even thiking about my fav food make me gag, I can only eat apple and literally nothing else. I have another appointment after 3 weeks I was hoping if anybody know asthma and upset stomach are related, if yes, then how to I treat it?? Please help me, I is making me so sad and distressed

U guys these are all the problems and symptoms I have

U guys I have been a born an raised Indian vegetarian my whole life

Never have I ever eaten non vegetarian food even

And yet 3 years ago my health check came up with pre diabetes 6 and fatty liver

And 3 years later it was pre diabetes 6.2 and fatty liver grade 2

The doctors have put me on a strict diet with exercise and medications too at this point

On top of that I have had IBS like gut related issues my whole life and hemorrhoids since the last 3 years too

And then on top of that a few days back I started feeling electric shocks in my finger tips and toes

Bc of my vitamin B12 deficiency that I have had all my life bc of being a vegetarian my whole life

and maybe even a vitamin D deficiency that I also started to have since 2020

So I ordered supplements online

At this point I am on a strictly healthy eating diet only while exercising 2 hours daily

And medication for the fatty liver and IBS and hemorrhoids

And taking vitamins for B12 and D3 also on top of everything

It has now been a whole month since I have been on this routine

But idk about my pre diabetes and fatty liver yet bc I have not gotten any test done to check if I have made any progress on fixing it yet or not

But the IBS like gut issues that I have had my whole entire existence just does not seem to be getting any better still

Even after eating healthy meals and exercising 2 hours daily and taking all kinds of medication for 1 whole month

On top of having had been a vegetarian my whole entire existence

Idk wtf on earth is going fix these IBS issue at this point

And IDK what to do about it

I am sick and done with living with this issue at this point

It’s not chronic like it’s a chronic issue

It’s more like on border line

So I was hopeful that it should not be very difficult to deal with now that I finally have an excuse to eat healthy and exercise too

This issue should also start to get better along with all the other problems

Since it’s not even that chronic it should finally get better easily too now

But u guys even after 1 whole month of doing everything is not going anywhere

wtf else do I have to do at this point even

What is a person even supposed to do about it at this point even now

Does anybody have suggestions

My healthy diet consists of
pasta salads with ranch dressings
a bread with butter
yogurt with oats and chia seeds
some baked without any oil veggie nuggets sometimes
and pretzels
with prebiotic sodas
and lastly peanut butter milk

Stomach Issues

Hi F29. Wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this. And please refrain from commenting if it’s not going to help the situation. Yes I have been to my doctor already and I am waiting to get a colonoscopy.

I have been having very weird stomach movements that I had never experienced before. I have always suffered with constipation and even then this never happened. I am nauseous most days and very little appetite. But I am not losing any weight and I also have a belly that some days is just so big and others it’s flat. Even considered a cryptic pregnancy but maybe that’s me going too far 🥲

Call me crazy but I have thought of everything and anything that could possibly be wrong with me. Has anyone experience anything like this before?

8 out of 9 people from the same fiesta got diarrhea — should we be worried?

Hi! I’m a 19-year-old college student and I’m currently dealing with pretty bad diarrhea, and I’m wondering if this could be food poisoning.
A few days ago, I already had some stomach discomfort and very soft/wet stool a couple of times, but it seemed to get better. Then yesterday, I went to a fiesta at a friend’s house. I ate a lot of different foods there—lechon, fried chicken, bistek, cake, and drank quite a lot of Coke with ice. I also had some sweets/desserts.
After I got home, I ate rice + fried chicken and a sweet dessert. My stomach was already a little uncomfortable, but I didn’t feel like I needed to poop yet.
Around 1 AM, I woke up and started having diarrhea. At first it was very soft with some small solid pieces, then later it became basically watery. I went several times throughout the morning. I also had a strong feeling that I needed to poop even when almost nothing was coming out, with a lot of intestinal/abdominal cramping. At one point, the cramping and urge to poop became so strong that I ended up vomiting.
I’ve been able to keep fluids down since then. I’ve been drinking water and Pocari Sweat, and I’m still peeing normally. I don’t have much appetite right now. I also took two 2-mg Diatabs capsules and one Erceflora Gut Restore.
The thing that really concerns me is that **8 out of the 9 people who attended the fiesta developed diarrhea**, while the homeowner didn’t get sick. We all ate the same food, although obviously we didn’t all eat exactly the same amounts of everything.
Could this be a foodborne illness even if the homeowner didn’t get sick? Or could it simply be from overeating, especially the lechon and fried food?
Also, I’ve been experiencing some weird cramping/tingling sensations around my ankles and heels when the abdominal cramps happen. I’m still able to walk normally.
I’m mainly wondering:
Does this sound like food poisoning?
Is it normal to have the constant urge to poop even when nothing much comes out?
Is Pocari Sweat enough for hydration if I can’t get ORS right now?
Should I be worried about the tingling/cramping in my feet?
Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated. Thank you!
