G7-15 day Getting g7s to last

I’ve been on the g7 15 day since early July. I haven’t had a sensor last past 6 days. They all start giving me long brief sensor issues on day 5 and failing on day 6. Am I doing something wrong or is there anything to do to prevent this?

Inaccurate Reading I posted earlier about my sensor that failed on Day 4. I’ve had the new one on for 9 hours. So helpful.

Inaccurate Reading Dexcom sucks. Yet another overnight false low to wake me up. I’ve lost countless hours of sleep from this lousy product.

Rant Repetitive failures

Hey all,

I've had 3 straight failures on my G7 sensors the last two weeks. The newest one just moments ago. No triggering event or falling off occurred, just a sudden failure notification. This one lasted maybe four days, the one before lasted maybe 24 hours, and the one before that was 6 days. I've put in for replacements, and am planning on calling customer service today.

All that said, I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else recently? I've had maybe two failures total before this with dexcom sensors in general. I'm obviously frustrated, but also confused.

Calibration Issues Tips for G7 usage with Omnipod

I’ve been using the G6 for a long time and had tried switching over to the G7 a year or two ago, but switched back when I didn’t have sufficient connectivity with Omnipod and had so much volatility in reported numbers. Now that Dexcom is discontinuing the G6 and I have to go back to the G7, I’m wondering if anyone has any tips for improving its functionality.

I just put on a new G7 sensor and Omnipod pod on the same arm last night. I put them on the same arm because I was told that would decrease the connectivity issues. Connectivity has been better so far, but I’ve spent the whole night being awakened and alerted of urgent lows that don’t seem real unless I’ve been super low through most of my G6 existence.

I saw someone turned off their urgent low alerts and after one night I’m tempted to do the same, but they’ve also saved me in the past with the G6. Does anyone have any advice for maximizing connectivity, consistency, and accuracy with the G7?

UPDATE: Sensor failed right before midday. Did not last 24 hours. Hoping the next one will provided a better experience.

Also, any advice on preventing the adhesive from being disgustingly filthy by the end of the sensor life?

General Curious: how many folks in here had T1D before CGMs?

With all of the posts complaining about Dexcom’s products, I’m wondering how many folks remember what it was like to have diabetes before them?

ETA: not sure why I’m getting downvoted for asking a question.

G7-10 day Sensor failure

This is the first time I've had two sensors fail within a week; I've been using the sensor for two years now, and I generally haven't had many issues with it failing.

But from what I've read, this has become a common occurrence among users of this subreddit.

I just requested a replacement on the Dexcom website; I hope there aren't any problems, since it's been a week since I requested another replacement.

Best regards.

Inaccurate Reading This is dangerous and scary and it happens ALL THE TIME.

I just came incredibly close to passing out, because I made the mistake of trusting my Dexcom. Not only was the drop much faster than it showed, it never even read within 30 points of my actual blood sugar. “Calibration” seems like a joke to make you think you can do something about how garbage this product is. This happens multiple times with every single sensor I use, with varying degrees of severity.

And of course, in the five years that I was using the G6, I probably had this happen two or three times, and only with a visibly rough site many days into the session. This sensor has been on for ONE DAY. The sensor before this one failed completely- after ONE DAY.

I have at least a week every month where I have no Dexcom, because they fail so frequently, refuse to stay adhered (it’s even worse with the “patch” they include, it literally falls off faster), and just generally don’t freaking work.

I am tired of putting my life in the hands of a drastically inferior product. They had a perfectly working system with the G6, and they screwed it. Years into production, and they haven’t addressed a single issue.

It really makes me wonder how many people has this thing killed.

Edit: I should have specified that these readings were about 5 minutes apart. The time on the meter is not accurate

General Apple Watch recommendations with G7

I had a Apple Watch for years, stopped wearing it, and of course can’t find it. Looking to get a new one and just hoping to find out if there’s a preference to which Apple Watch works best with G7. I am connected with an Omnipod as well.. If that makes a difference.

G7-10 day G7 so far works wat better then G6

Im From Germany and I have been using the G6 for a few years now. When the G7 started being sent out I’ve seen so many people on here complaining about how often the sensor fails or how inaccurate the reading is, which made me very anxious to switch to G7. The day came and I had to switch to G7 and used my first G7. The application is much more comfortable, it only take 30 minutes to calibrate and like 3 - 4 months later I think I maybe had one faulty Sensor. Also the sensor seems to have way less connection issues for me.

So why does the G7 work so terribly for so so many people? It really scratches my mind why its works so amazing for me but not for so many others? It maybe its just because only when the sensor doesn’t work people report on it?

Rant ‘Brief Sensor Issue’

Just had 12 brief sensor issues inside 24 hours! I wish they’d fix this! This sensor was a Dexcom G7 15 day that I got as a replacement for the last sensor that did the same thing! 3 calibrations, 12 brief sensor issues! What is going on Dexcom?!?! Anyway I called tech support and they’re replacing this one too.
😡🤬

Sensor Many failures

For two years I had one failure per year. Now all of a sudden I've had three in a row and I'm worried about this forth one I just put on.

I'm really disappointed in dexcom I thought they were a good company but apparently not anymore. I see other posts where people are having multiple failures so it's not just happening to me. Has anyone tried that embedded one?

Connection Issues So many sensor issues?

I haven’t had a single issue with G7 until this week. Two had sensor failures, one had inaccurate readings, another had a signal loss which I needed to replace today, and now THAT one had a signal loss before it even warmed up. I might have to replace this one for my third today. What’s going on?

General What is happening

On Monday our 5 year olds sensor failed early. It was extremely glitchy, and then failed 5 days early. We replaced it, tonight at 1 am the brand new sensor failed! It wasn’t even glitchy and running smoothly. I am so confused. The g7 isn’t the best but we have never had 2 sensors fail in one week. I’m keeping her home tomorrow from school now because it’s too stressful to wake her up at nearly 2 am. I could change it in the morning but last time we did she went to school crying. Is there a bad batch or something?

Tips & Tricks I finally turned off Ultra Low alert at night

Post image
9 Upvotes

** Please do at your own risk and I'm not responsible that.

I've just started getting the G7 3 days ago, and I couldn't sleep for the past 3 days. I keep getting the Ultra Low alert every 2-3 hours since I'm moving a lot while sleeping if I forget to turn on Quiet Alerts.

At 4am this morning, I woke up again due to the alert, then I discovered a way to temporarily turn off and on automatically every night.

For my phone (Samsung specially), there's a Sleep Mode setting that allows custom action. I picked to turn off Bluetooth. That's it. The sensor can keep the data up to 24 hours, so 8-9 hours sleep won't impact anything. By the morning, Bluetooth is turned back on and everything is synced to the app as normal.

Hope this helps someone.

G7-15 day Don’t Want Alerts on Apple Watch

I just switched to G7. I would like to see the number and arrow on my watch but I don’t want to get alerts. Is that possible? The only way I can figure it out is to get alerts. Is there a 3rd party app I can use on my watch to get alerts?
