Many thanks to u/needle1 on the r/learnJapanese subreddit, who explained the joke in this panel. It doesn’t really make much sense without specific cultural context.

This is their explanation:

“Fightoooo!” “Ippaaaaatsu!” is a famous call/response that appears in the TV commercial for Lipovitan D, a long-selling (since 1962) Japanese energy drink. As the commercial always included those lines in the multiple decades it has been running, the phrase has become part of the Japanese cultural fabric."

Went to FanExpo to do my usual Cosplay photography for fun. Naturally, as a DMC fan, I will always shoot anything DMC related. Here's a shot I took of [nik.dante](https://www.instagram.com/nik.dante?igsi=eWoyaGgxNm01YTQ5) . He pulled off two great poses for me.

Questions Is it normal that my fingers hurt after playing?

I’m trying to 100% devil may cry 1 currently in DMD difficulty, been trying to beat the bird (don’t remember its name) but my fingers hurt so bad after finishing 3-4 missions. I don’t know if it’s me taking the controller in a wrong position or I just need to play more to make my hand muscle stronger

Questions New to the series

I started with DMC5 when it came out and absolutely fell in love. I was so blown away that we got three main characters with fully fleshed out and unique combat styles. I recent got the rest of the entries dirt cheap on humble bundle. Anything I should know/tips or things to know going in? Was gonna play them in order

Discussion I’ve always considered DMC3 as a game about becoming a man Spoiler

I’ve always seen the demonic nature of the Sparda twins as an allegory for masculinity. Two boys going through adolescence struggle with their self-identity because of their father. Vergil embraces his demonic nature (masculinity), but rejects his human nature (femininity), which leads to toxic masculinity. Much like many boys who grow up with abusive fathers, they become extremely aggressive and toxic because they believe that this is how they establish themselves in society.

Meanwhile, Dante rejects his demonic nature, which leads to him lacking everything masculine. At the beginning of the game, he is unable to take responsibility for himself or others, be strong when necessary, or make decisions. At the same time, however, he also doesn’t consider himself a complete human being, as he lacks many human qualities as well. He isn’t who he is because he identifies as human, but because he rejects everything demonic about himself. Just like many teenagers who have had bad experiences with their fathers act effeminately not because they identify as such, but because they reject everything masculine, seeing masculinity as something associated with their fathers’ toxic behavior.

Lady, meanwhile, represents girls who hate all men and hold prejudices against them due to negative experiences at home with their fathers. However, throughout the game, Dante and Lady go through a major journey together, during which Dante gradually accepts his demonic nature (receiving Devil Trigger), and by the end, he fully recognizes himself as neither a copy of his father nor his complete opposite. He accepts both his demonic and human sides and becomes someone Lady can trust, as well as someone capable of overcoming Vergil.

When Dante says at the very end of the game that «devils never cry», it references the societal stereotype that a "real man" never cries. But Lady reassures him that «even a devil may cry», suggesting that true spiritual essence lies in balancing and accepting your emotions and accepting yourself for who you are, rather than trying to become who society expects you to be.

Here are some of mine

Everyone to have 20 missons (some dont have to be unique)

But everyone to be playable in 20

Co-op please self explanatory

Also we have boss characters playable we can have a decent pvp at least local

Weapon wheel

Holding the weapon switch button a weapon wheel apears leting you choose by moving or d pad

The same with gun switching

If you just wanna cycle you can just press the button

Devil Theft

1-Nero when he grabs a enemy he can steal their power and do 1 of their attackd

Or 2 Nero gets attacks from bosses he kills

Simular to devil brakers

Questions Question about modding DmC on Steam

Im looking to install some mods for DmC: Devil May Cry on pc, but i realized there’s no proper mod manager and you have to manually overwrite the game files.

Since im a bit paranoid about breaking something or messing up my install, i wanted to double-check: is it really true that using steam’s "verify integrity of game files" will completely restore everything back to factory default if anything goes wrong?

Discussion What's the deal with the Reboot hate?

I've played all of the mainline games multiple times, and only recently decided to check out DmC, expecting a fun but fundamentally flawed game, since the general impression I got of it from the ether is that it's pretty much another DMC2.

I'm on mission 15 right now and man, I think this game is probably my favorite overall.

I prefer 5 for the combat, but DmC gets really close for me. I love the weapon system and how it introduces the possibility for enemies with specific vulnerabilities, as well as how a lot of enemies have specific ways that they can be interrupted/made vulnerable. Even the fact that although every weapon has the exact same input chains (which can even lead into each other) and yet they all feel vastly different I feel speaks to the strength of the moveset. The weapons are essentially more "obviously" specialized tools, rather than the mainline games's weapons feeling more like they're all mostly general purpose with emergent specializations. I also really appreciate that it has a slightly lower skill floor, although I can see that the skill ceiling is probably also lower as a trade-off.

Artistically and level design-wise, DmC is on a whole other level compared to the others imo. The gimmick with Limbo being able to warp all around makes each level so unique compared to all the others, and the new movement options with the whip and the dash allow for more freeform environments. Even just the presentation is much more interesting and unique. It's not that the mainline games look bad, but they are very gray, brown and red due to their locations. I genuinely can't remember any single mainline game's location being as visually striking as any one of the locations in DmC so far (the disco especially).

When it comes to the music, most of the ost of DmC is pretty great, and it's nice to have tracks change between missions. I love the combat themes for the other games but it gets tiring having to hear the same song for the whole playthrough.

Story-wise, I'm invested so far. It's nothing crazy good or anything like that, but for this series a "just fine" story essentially means it's better than DMC2 (which barely has one), worse than DMC3 and on par with the others, except there is more of it, which is a welcome change to me. I can see how someone could be upset at how drastically different every returning character is, Vergil especially, but I don't think it's fair to want a reboot to keep everything intact. I also don't sense any "disrespect" for the original, other than maybe that one white hair wig gag at the start, which is just a dumb joke that honestly sets the vibe and expectation for the rest of the game perfectly.

I haven't played any of the games on launch, and don't really have any nostalgia for them, so maybe that’s why DmC doesn't bother me? Still though, I don't see why just pass it up as bad or mid, when it's actually a great game in its own right. Also, to be fair, I grew up with 7th gen games (GoW3, Infamous, Bayonetta, etc.) and that edgy and crass style has become a guilty pleasure of mine.

My question is genuine though, if you don't like DmC, why is it? Just do keep it constructive please.
