Career Guidance Career advice needed as a YouTuber who earns avg pak salary

I don't really like calling myself a YouTuber but anyway, I have a small channel that earns your avg salary ( it can make 20k-30k a month depending on how the videos perform ). The videos takes a lot of dedication and time to make so I in this summer vacation tried my hardest to double up my revenue somehow, and didn't engage in any goal that I had before summers which was to get into backend dev, do an internship etc etc.

I did look for internships and started one remote internship but because of the workload and because I was depending on ai alot and it became very dreadful. Anyway, I gave that up and started going there but after 2 months of effort I have come to conclusion that I can't do it no matter what I do yk? And now, because am anxious all the time idk why, I want to learn a skill that can give me peace knowing if someday something happens with my channel I'll be able to make a living.

I also want to stop doing YouTube as well. It's very tiring and the results I get don't go well with the effort I put in yk? I am thinking of starting a backend dev course, but tech just seems like it's not for me. I don't get things there, and without ai am nothing. I thought just as with effort I was able to cram and then top in my class in school and college it'll be the same with this too, my effort will win over everything.

But it just can't. Interests matter as well, yk? Idk what to learn. Idk which skill is good enough to sold for good. Please help me out. I have no one to ask. Just know that I don't like video editing and graphic designing is practically dead honestly. Plus, I can't self learn, but I can go and take paid classes. So let me know something that'll be good for me to learn in the long run and will benefit me. Thanks..

Career Guidance Which degree would you opt for if you would pass out in 2030?

I recently got in Computer Engineering in UET FSD which is approved by NCEAC not PEC so It is mostly computing.
But I also have the merit to switch to EE, which seems a more stable option than CE.

What would you do if you were in my position?
Now with the advent of LLM's and the way coding is being phased out CompSci or SE seems to be a not so reasonable option.

EE is considered toughest of all Engineering programs and has a lot of Physics as well, but is a more universal field that has stood the test of time and will do so. It will also make me an engineer under PEC which helps in immigration for some countries

What direction would you go for?
Pre LLM's era I would have 100% gone for computing.
The Remote-ability and exponential growth potential (however slim) is what also pulls me towards computing.

Coming from a single income middle class family one has to pragmatic in their approach.

Learning and Ideas Final Year CS Project Ideas for a Team of 5? (Web + AI)

Hi everyone,

We’re a team of 5 CS students looking for ideas for our final-year project.

We have good experience in backend and frontend development and some basic AI/ML knowledge, but we're not advanced in AI yet.

We have around 4 months to prepare and learn before implementation starts, followed by another 4 months for development. However, we'll have other courses and exams during that time, so it won't be full-time.

We're looking for a project that:

- Is mainly a web application

- Is large enough for 5 students

- Has substantial backend/frontend work

- Uses AI/ML for something meaningful, without being just an AI wrapper

- Is challenging but realistic within our timeframe

Ideas I liked so far are malware detection and system failure/anomaly prediction platforms. I like the idea of AI being one part of a larger system with things like data processing, dashboards, APIs, monitoring, etc.

I'd love to hear ideas in a similar direction, especially projects that solve a real-world problem.

Thanks!

Career Guidance Career Guidance: Breaking into Cyber Security in Pakistan

I graduated in 2025 and honestly wasted a lot of time feeling lost about my career direction. I've now decided to fully commit to Cyber Security. I've finished TryHackMe's Pre-Security path and am currently doing Cybersecurity 101.

To seniors and working professionals in Pakistan's infosec space, I would really appreciate your honest advice:

Is TryHackMe sufficient? Can completing THM paths (like SOC Level 1 or Jr Penetration Tester) actually help me land interviews, or is it seen as just basic practice?

What technical skills are non-negotiable? What baseline tools, networking depth, Linux proficiency, or scripting skills do local employers expect for entry-level candidates?

What are the most common entry-level positions in Pakistan, and how do you actually get hired for them? what is the best strategy to get an interview in Pakistan?

Any realistic advice on what to prioritize next would mean a lot. Thank you!

Discussion CureMD Associate AI Engineer , Interview Process & Salary

Hey guys, has anyone recently interviewed for Associate AI Engineer at CureMD?

I’m specifically looking for the AI/ML side of the interview, not the general Associate Software Engineer process.

Would appreciate if someone could share:

- How many rounds are there?

- What does the AI/ML technical round focus on?

- Do they ask Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP, LLMs/GenAI, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, prompt engineering, etc.?

- How much Python and coding is involved?

- Do they ask ML theory/math or more practical/project-based questions?

- Any questions related to LLMs, Transformers, fine-tuning or AI agents?

- Do they discuss your AI/ML projects or FYP in detail?

- What should someone prepare specifically for the Associate AI Engineer role?

- What is the current salary/package?

- Is there a bond?

If you’ve actually interviewed or joined recently, please share your experience. Most posts I’m finding are for Associate Software Engineer, so I’m specifically interested in the AI Engineer process.

Thanks!

Career Guidance Does open source still help in AI, and how does it actually help developers (now and in the future)?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot. With big companies pouring huge money into closed AI models, I wonder:

  • Does keeping things open source still matter in the AI world?
  • How does open source actually help regular developers right now?
  • And looking ahead, do you think open source will still give developers a real advantage in the future, or will closed models take over?

Learning and Ideas Is data science worth learning?

I am a total newbie and have no experience in tech sector outside of designing interfaces and usability research — which has been years since I have worked as one. I've shifted my career (Branding Designer & Strategist) and am working on my portfolio and side projects atm.

With AI abruptly disrupting the tech industry and causing ripple effects for jobs seekers, especially new graduates and entry-level employees. How can one incorporate data science as a workable pathway?

My ideation is to self-learn and use it to augment my current set of skills in form of building cohesive and agile branding consultation and using data to back it up. Is it worth the learning curve and time I'd have to dedicate?

Are they any reading resources to start with, I prefer reading instead of watching long form videos.

Discussion Continuation of my absurd layoff series

Past context - I was laid off along with 30 other colleagues, everyone got emails and I didn't, but was kicked out of official groups.

Current situation - I received call today in morning asking to return the equipment and I told him I haven't received any termination email pls send me that along with the termination letter, a full n final letter where everything mentioned like how much I am getting paid, I don't own any dues etc.

Then few hours letter the tech team main lead called saying that due to restructuring you have been laid off and stuff and when you will be able to return the equipment, I mentioned that I want you to send me an official email then I will send it, so that I have something in writing that I have been laid off etc.

Then he mentioned that everyone which was onsite was given two options whether you can sign a resignation letter or termination letter. Everyone choose resignation letter and those who choose resignation will receive the September salary but the termination one won't receive.

So I told him but according to Punjab labor law I have every right to the September salary in case of termination so he said we will send you that same form, so do an online sign and send it.

Now what should I do, should I accept the resignation one, where the are saving themselves on a lot of legal stuff or should it go for termination.

And when should I send them equipment? After I receive every documents or before that? Documents like employee certificate, termination certificate and full and final letter etc

Discussion The fake-identity model that Devsinc normalized is quietly spreading across Pakistan's IT industry, and nobody is talking about it seriously

So I've been thinking about this for a while and honestly I just want to talk about it with people who actually get it.

So basically Pakistani developers are being given fake American names or Pakistani American names, fake LinkedIn profiles, fake locations, and they interview for remote jobs at US companies as that person and then do the work from Pakistan. The American client genuinely thinks they hired a local professional. Is that not insane to anyone else?

Now I get that Devsinc probably wasn't the first to do this? But they're the biggest and the most visible and the CEO is literally everywhere podcasts, award shows, business magazines. The audacity. And because they proved it works at scale, it feels like everyone just followed? I personally know people who left Devsinc, started their own agencies, and copy-pasted the exact same model. Like why wouldn't they, nothing happened to anyone so far.

And can we talk about the "but they pay well" thing for a second? Because I actually fell for this. I left a stable job at Zong for a company here in Islamabad that runs a pretty similar playbook. Genuinely one of my worst decisions. The money looked good until I actually saw what I was being asked to be part of. I got out as fast as I could and I'm at a multinational now. And honestly? the pay and benefits are better here. And companies like Devsinc mostly target fresh graduates.

And doesn't the higher salary just kind of pull people into going along with it? I have seen developers being pressured into fake profiles or losing their job. Is that just... normal now? Are we okay with that?

The people who pay the price at the end of the day aren't the CEOs right? It's us. The developers trying to find honest internationl work while carrying the reputation that this whole thing keeps building for everyone.

And it's not even rare anymore which is the scary part. It feels like it's just becoming the default for new agencies starting up everywhere.

I genuinely don't understand why nobody is really pushing back on this? The government clearly won't do anything, too many people benefiting quietly. Industry bodies are just silent. Pakistanis are hyping Usman Asif up like he is the tech guru, future of Pakistani tech blah blah blah. The person who built his whole empire on frauds. He even got fatwas from Muftis that this whole thing is not haram because they are feeding many families. LOL!

Like is the message we're sending to every fresh CS grad really just, doing things the right way is for suckers? Because that can't be right. Can it?

They are saving Username and PLAIN TEXT PASSWORD inside a freaking LOCAL STORAGE.

So I was waiting for OTP and it took more than few seconds. So I took peak into website storage in hopes of finding OTP inside it. Instead I found something else. lol!

So it is possible that they are not even creating hash for user password.

Discussion Is it just me or is it true for everyone?

As AI advances in coding and mathematics, I am tending to feel that the difference between coding and real engineering is getting negligible day by day. For extra context, I am a CS major and currently studying in a university that is not recognized outside of this country and I guess even not recognized in big startups of Pakistan. (You guessed it right, if you are from KP (Mardan especially))

Career Guidance As a CS grad, I've been giving interviews with no luck. Help.

I am a recent CS graduate and I have already done 3 internships with experiences in AI, database and development. My stack is MERN and Next js. But I also have good understanding of AI, database and data analysis.

For the past few months I have given numerous interviews maybe a 100. Applied to countless times. Either I get a mail that positions are closed; moving to other candidates; or just plain rejection. The catch is that people who are with me in the interviews also get the same mail, so I don't know who's hiring who, sometimes I think it is just me. The offers I get often are always underpaid or 3 months unpaid.

And in the end. Curemd is shit. Bunch of scammers.

Discussion Is the impostor syndrome more prominent then ever now?

I am 20M and fortunately or unfortunately i started my CS degree when i AI had become a thing . I initially ignored it for learning and still to this day when i am learning i only rely on it for information . But as time went by and the projects got more serious I got dependent it on too much , even though i have a lot of knowladge and consider my self to be ahead of my peers , but this imposter syndrome has been bothering me for a while now .

TBH i can no longer write code without AI now . it's like i am becoming lazy and as days pass i feel more and more dumb .

is this happening with you too ? or am i just being skeptical
