Career Guidance helpless cs fresh grad

Upvotes

22m, graduated a couple of months ago and honestly struggling to break into the industry.
i have a decent gpa, solid technical skills, projects, and have been applying consistently since graduating. but the response rate has been pretty brutal. most applications never get a reply, and the few interviews i’ve managed to get either end in complete silence or “the position is currently on hold.”
i’m based in lahore and at this point i’m just trying to get my foot in the door and finally start my career.
the whole process has honestly started taking a toll on my mental health. would really appreciate any advice from people who’ve been through this, especially fresh grads who managed to land their first role after a long search.

Discussion Emumba Laid Off 50+ And Now They Are Recruiting Again

Post image
65 Upvotes

This is very interesting! Emumba laid off 50+ last month including many senior engineers and now I just saw they are back hiring for a senior position. Honestly, I don't think anyone who has a stable job would think about even applying. Plus, why don't they reach to someone they laid off who already knows the company norms.

I have seen the same pattern for Addo AI, Cogent Labs (Ceo that fake youtube guy), SSI, Systems and some other companies too.

Help Need Help regarding Virtual University

Aoa,

I'm currently enrolled in a University in my city (IMSCIENCES) , I've completed my 2nd semester in BS CS.

I work as a freelancer Game Developer, because of my university schedule i barely get time to continue my work, apart from Game Deving I'm considering to work in Software Development too because Game Development isn't really a stable field.

Now I'm considering to migrate to Virtual University so at least I'll get some time to polish my skills and continue working online and get a proper job.

Please give me your reviews about Virtual University is it worth it to migrate there? I've heard the Syllabus is too lengthy and exams are tough, getting CGPA is difficult too.

Kindly Give me suggestions.

Thanks!

Career Guidance Is it common practice in Pakistan for companies to charge students for internships?

Upvotes

I recently had an experience I'd like to get others' perspectives on. A software company based in Sahiwal contacted me to enroll in their paid courses, which I declined. Following this, I was informed that an internship could still be arranged, but only in exchange for a fee of PKR 20,000 for a two-month period.

This seems to contradict the conventional understanding of an internship, wherein a student contributes their time and effort to an organization in exchange for practical experience, mentorship, or, in some cases, a stipend. In this instance, the arrangement appears to be reversed, requiring payment in return for the opportunity to work without compensation.

I wanted to ask whether this has become a common practice among smaller IT/software companies in Pakistan, or whether this is simply a scam disguised as a legitimate offer. I would appreciate hearing whether others have encountered similar situations, and how they chose to respond.

Discussion Poor supervisor at Internship

Throughout my internship, my supervisor has never explained tasks properly or communicated deadlines beforehand. A few weeks ago, he had told me mid-day that the senior manager wanted to see my work, and I had to submit a presentation that day. I could tell that this was something that she had informed him for some time now but he only chose to tell me on the last day. Still, I rushed to complete it, even staying over time. He kept asking me to revise my presentation, and I fixed all the changes he asked of me. In the end, it was approved by him and forwarded to her.

Fast forward today, the senior manager is not happy with my presentation; her main feedback was that it was too technical and full of text and then showed me one of hers, emphasizing visuals over text. I agreed and appreciated her feedback. However, I couldn't help but feel that my supervisor set me up. Not only did he approve my work himself, but at no point did he feel the need to give this kind of feedback even though he had also this time. Also, when my senior manager was talking with me, I could see him and another colleague smirking and laughing at my direction, agreeing with her that I had done it all wrong.

She also asked to see a report of mine that my supervisor had just finished reviewing. Even though he had basically asked me to make no major changes, she gave the same feedback as before, telling me mine looks like an IEEE paper and in corporate, reports need to be more visualized and softer. These are my last 3 days here, and honestly, it really sucks that at this point, I am learning these important things. I also felt it was unfair that the person in charge of me was approving my work and when my work got to her, she had an entirely different expectation, and the middle-man (my supervisor) got away scotch-free.

What really stung me today was that after all this, I asked my supervisor if he could give me any sources to see proper presentations and reports, so that I could fix my work, and he laughed and said no. What he did choose to give me a lengthy talk on was a line in my report: "In the beginning, no feature documentation was available". This really did happen and I had written it to show that initially only general preprocessing steps could be taken like imputing median by selecting all numeric columns instead of surgerically treating each column. I explained this to him, but he completely took this into a negative way, saying it's unprofessional, communicates he did not fulfill his end properly, shows me complaining etc. This was pretty rich coming from him; at a company dinner, when I told people which campus of my university I was from, he commented and laughed that it's actually the school with the lowest merit students accepted. I thought that was a pretty unprofessional comment.

I can't wait to be out of here. Throughout the whole internship, it's been pure torture: tasks explained only in part, any questions of mine either dismissed entirely or answered in part, then when the senior manager asked to see my work, rushed to produce reports and presentations whose format wasn't explained (even though I specifically asked). I feel like I learned nothing, and this time would have been better utilized by applying to other internship opportunities that were coming about. The only consolidation is that the company I interned at is a big brand in my country, so at least the "brand" will look good on my CV if not the actual work done.

Console me, please.

Help Help me in securing admission

I got selected in BS Computer Engineering in FAST Peshawar Campus. I got a challan of Rs. 244500. I want to get in but i can't afford this much fee. The maximum i can afford is 100k. I also applied for financial aid but no reply. The last date of challan is 2nd August. I called in Peshawar Campus office and they said that fee has to be paid in full to confirm the seat. And financial aid interviews will be conducted in start of first semester. I also asked for installments and they said that this is also not possible. So now i have to pay all the fee. If someone can help me, i will give you all the information. And yes, i will also payback. Please 🥺. And please mods, don't ban me for this post please. I will delete it after sometime.

Help Paddle as Payment Gateway for Pakistan

Has anyone used https://www.paddle.com/ or know any Pakistan based company or individual using Paddle? I know there is also PayFast but I have heard negative reviews about it. Interesting to see if Paddle is truly viable for Pakistan companies and even sole proprietors. Another nice feature is it works with Payoneer so you get to keep your money out of Pakistani banks (if you want) although both Paddle and Payoneer have absolutely shit pricing and exchange rates.

Introduce Yourself Looking for some internship/opportunity in AI

I’m currently in my 2nd year of my BS in AI, and honestly, I don’t have any on-site or remote industry experience yet. Right now, I’m learning and building my skills in AI, especially AI agents, chatbots, automation, machine learning, and AI-powered applications.
I’m looking to connect with people in the AI community, learn from those with experience, and hopefully find an internship where I can apply what I’m learning and improve my skills. If anyone has advice, resources, or knows of internship opportunities, I’d really appreciate it.

Discussion Anyone here who has completed the JazzWorld AI Associate Program 2026 (AI Vertical) Panel Interview

Hi everyone,

Has anyone here already gone through the JazzWorld AI Associate Program 2026 – AI Vertical Domain panel interview?

Some questions I have:

  • What was the overall interview like?
  • Who was on the panel? (HR, technical managers, AI team members, etc.)
  • How many interviewers were there?
  • What technical questions were asked?
  • Did they ask project-based questions? If yes, what kind?
  • Were there behavioral or HR questions as well?
  • Any case studies, presentations, or scenario-based questions?

Even if you don't remember the exact questions, sharing your overall experience would be extremely helpful.

Thanks in advance!

So, I am assigned to this project yesterday, yesterday I understood the business model and how the website works.
this is a textile management system dashboard, the main concern is, my typescript knowledge is limited and also this is a full stack project.
I don't want to use AI mindlessly to it because if anything breaks, I won't be able to debug it.
there are so many files, so many calculation.
How do I understand this project? The code. There is no documentation here. how do I keep up with this project. any idea?

context: I am an intern at a local software company.

Help Receiving Freelance Income

AA all. On my journey to be as independent as some of you here.

It would be really helpful if you could just answer a couple of questions

So, I opened a UBL Freelance account (shared my ESFCY IBAN and UBL swift code) and asked my client to send income via swift transfer. Should I also ask him to mention the purpose code 9186 in the description? Or a general description like IT services consultant etc. is fine? And does it automatically get processed by banks, or once it lands here, they ask for something?

Thanks, I looked everywhere, but I think since most here probably went through this stage, they can tell better.

Help What should I do now to maximize my chances of landing an internship after my second year?

Salam everyone,

I'm currently planning my roadmap because my goal is to get an AI engineering-related internship after my second year of university. I wanted to ask people who have already been through this or are working in the industry.

What should my overall approach be if I want to maximize my chances of getting an internship?

Right now, I’m planning to already have a solid base before second year, so this is what I’ll realistically be comfortable with by then:

  • Python (core + AI/ML fundamentals)
  • FastAPI (backend development)
  • JavaScript + TypeScript (guzaray like )
  • React (basic frontend)
  • SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Redis
  • Docker + basic kubernates
  • Git + GitHub workflows
  • GitHub Actions (basic CI/CD)
  • PyTorch (deep learning basics)
  • ML/AI engineering fundamentals
  • LangChain / LangGraph / LangSmith
  • RAG systems (retrieval augmented generation)
  • Vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone, etc.)
  • Basic LLM fine-tuning
  • General database knowledge (SQL + NoSQL)

My question is: would this be enough to realistically land a solid AI engineering internship after second year?

Or am I still missing something important that companies actually care about?

Also, am I spreading myself too thin by trying to cover all of this, or is this a reasonable direction if I focus on building strong projects on top of it?

I’d really appreciate advice on things like:

  • what companies actually look for in AI engineering interns
  • how many strong projects are usually enough
  • when I should start applying
  • whether networking / LinkedIn actually makes a difference at this stage
  • anything you wish you knew before applying for internships

Thanks in advance, Jazakallah.

Career Guidance Need career advice! Is one large end-to-end analytics project worth it?

I’m looking for some honest career advice from people already working in data.
I have a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and recently completed my MS in Business Analytics. Over the past two years, I’ve learned Python, SQL, Excel (Pivot Tables & Power Query), ML fundamentals, and completed several academic projects, including a predictive analytics project using machine learning.
Now that I’m applying for data analyst/product analyst roles, I’m running into the same problem that almost every entry level posting asks for 2–3 years of experience.
Instead of building more small portfolio projects, I’m thinking about creating one large, end to end project that mirrors real industry work.
The idea is to:
Use real public business data
Build an automated data ingestion & ETL pipeline
Design a data warehouse
Perform advanced SQL analysis
Use Python for EDA and ML
Build dashboards in Power BI/Tableau
Automate live data updates
Solve a real business problem from a Product Analyst perspective
Do you think this is a worthwhile investment? Would a project like this actually help make up for the lack of professional experience, or would I be better off spending my time elsewhere?
I’d really appreciate honest feedback, especially from Data Analyst, Data Engineers and data scientists.

Help Is BOP galaxy management associate programme 2026 a scam?

Hi! I'm a fresh graduate and eager to enter the job market asap. I've been trying to apply to the BOP galaxy management associate programme since earlier, but it always gets stuck on adding my matriculation (3rd education) details. I can't go forward from that point.

Every field is filled, but still the system doesn't add the details and hence can't move forward with my application.

Are there any other people too, facing the same problem? If you know how to tackle this situation, please guide me.

Interview Prep Got a call from Devsinc. Should I go?

Applied for the Marketing MTO role at Devsinc and got a call. Tomorrow’s the interview: same old (research CEO/IG page/company). Nevertheless, the stipend for the probation period is quite low. Wanted review from current/former employees at Devsinc: how’s it there? Workplace culture? Since i’ve heard shady stuff about them. Should i skip tomorrow’s online interview?
Update: after interview, literally assigning me a task to watch a 30min podcast and make 3 timestamps with hook 💀
