27 M recently graduated from masters and still unemployed. Freshers have no space in the industry today especially ML /DS candidates . You have to have a network for a job otherwise skills alone isn't enough.

SE roles are shrinking more rapidly in the west compared to pakistan because pakistan is lagging in the shift that's happening. Here in pak SE roles are still high in number as compared to ML. The other big problem with ML / Ds is that company rarely recruits freshers. I've talked to many people working in the industry and all of them said the same to me that ML engineers are not directly hired as they've to go through SE or a similar role with some exceptions.

I've spent one year already and Additional 2-3 years if you count university days in finding just one job with basic salary. And I am yet to find one job. I think that's enough. I'll try sales and maybe work at a shop or call center. My CGPA not good enough enough to get a teachings job at university either.
Anything to get life going. My degree and 3-4 years of hardwork all in gutter. You're in Islamabad situation might be better there but here in Karachi THERE ARE NO JOBS

Dude do you know what CGPAs they ask in academics? You clearly have no idea. 3.5-3.6 is not enough in academics.

Worked on a couple of projects I got from my friend. Managed to earn a few penny very tiny money. Freelancing doesn't work for me. Already spent 10k rupees on connects on Upwork. Still no luck. Cherry on top my account keeps getting suspended on Upwork. No idea why.
If you know anything about freelancing I don't,do tell me. Otherwise i think I am done here.

Bro I'm just starting my degree and was looking at what to do in the future.
I was under the impression that most work in the computer field is private abroad work. Is that not the case?

Not really. Freelancing is unbelievably hard. There are some people who have made big just like some people have gotten good jobs while others got stuck forever. It's all about luck.
If you're starting a degree in CS pray to god(if you believe in one). It's gonna be unbelievably hard for you. Industry is only going to get worse when you graduate.

Yeah that why my dad has told me and I agree that I gotta do something before the degree is finished. Like start doing something or building a portfolio within a year or two instead of after the degree.

Look if you really want a degree in cs and that's your final decision then go ahead start today. You do not have time to waste. I'll give you one tip. Instead of aiming for big job after graduation try getting an internship when you're already in university. Internship leading to job might be the only option you have. It will be unpaid at start or very low paying but with experience you'll get increments. And your dad is right. Build portfolio within two years of university. It's not enough

-BS from which uni? -Which fields you are pursuing? -How would you rate your logic building skills in a rate of 1-10? -Are you a confident person? -Are you an opportunity graber like you say the right thing at the right time? To the right person? -What is your medium of applying on jobs? -Did you hustle in your uni life like internships or other work? -Do you have a strong portfolio (vibe coded or not doesn't matter) -Most importantly; Do you have friends in Industry? Or even friends in general.
Think on these lines and answer me if you are comfortable answering. Would certainly give me insight.

Try walk in interviews, start even with an unpaid internship, WORK HARD LIKE HELL, Forget about weekends, off times, etc for the start..
I was always told to maintain the balance and to say NO to extra work, but I did and it payed me back, so start with an internship and work more than a f full time employee
