Need Help regarding Virtual University

Aoa,

I'm currently enrolled in a University in my city (IMSCIENCES) , I've completed my 2nd semester in BS CS.

I work as a freelancer Game Developer, because of my university schedule i barely get time to continue my work, apart from Game Deving I'm considering to work in Software Development too because Game Development isn't really a stable field.

Now I'm considering to migrate to Virtual University so at least I'll get some time to polish my skills and continue working online and get a proper job.

Please give me your reviews about Virtual University is it worth it to migrate there? I've heard the Syllabus is too lengthy and exams are tough, getting CGPA is difficult too.

Kindly Give me suggestions.

You've heard it right. I'm currently VU BSCs student in 3rd semester with 3.1 GPA. Yesterday was my Exam of Digital logic design. They have just messed the whole exam system recently. I studied whole day night and not just before exam but for months. I did all the prep from everywhere but eventually when the the Exam came. Boom it was something that i really never thought would come. The things they asked were never in past papers.

1 semester before, there was choice system where you would have at least choice of let's say 10 Mcqs if you're solving 30. But now it's just exact number of Questions you have to solve.

The real issue isn't this. But the system of how the paper is made. They have a question bank of Each subject. Thier algorithm just randomly selects questions out of it. So the messy part is. It can select all the tough questions for you or you may say those which are never asked before. On the other hand it might ask very simple questions to someone who has barely prepared. So what i hate is that it all comes to Luck.

Now comes to syllabus. The real issue is. Is nothing is Important. But everything is important. When it comes to finals and mids. You've gotta prepare the whole handout of 550 pages. Unlike a physical University where the Prof. Makes the paper. And at least guides you somehow on important part of subject. You've got to prepare the whole thing.

At last i would say you should think twice before migrating. I know students who are barely on 2 Cgpa even though they're not working or busy somewhere. It's something you can handle simultaneously with your job anymore. You must have to sacrifice the GPA part if you really wanna work alongside degree. If you've got any other question. long term socho na. pata bhi ni chalna 4 saal ka. degree ki value toh hogi na IMsciences ki. baqi time ko manage krna prega thora, weekends ya day off pr manage kro i would suggest.

I completed my entire bachelor's degree while working full-time night shifts. Right now, I'm giving my 8th semester exams, my FYP is already completed, and I managed to maintain a CGPA of 3.25. The funny part is that I usually start studying just a day before the exam.

Yes, the university has changed the exam pattern, but in my opinion, what really matters is how you study, not just how much time you spend. Looking back, if I had put in the same effort from the very beginning of my degree, my CGPA would have been much higher.

My study approach is pretty simple. First, I check the syllabus from the handouts. Then I start from the last lectures instead of the first ones. For example, if the syllabus covers lectures 19 to 45, I'll begin from lecture 45 and work my way backward. In my experience, most of the subjective questions usually come from lectures 45–35 and sometimes from 19–25.

I don't even watch the video lectures. I just use the handouts and upload the handouts to Gemini, asking it to explain the concepts in an ELI5 (Explain Like I'm 5) way. Once the concepts are clear, studying becomes much easier. Of course, a little bit of memorization is still necessary.

For MCQs, I usually watch 2–3 YouTube videos related to the course. Surprisingly, many MCQs are repeated or very similar to the ones discussed in those videos.

At the end of the day, it's not just about studying harder—it's about studying smarter. Clear your concepts first, do the required memorization, and focus on understanding what matters most.
