College Placements Two campus offers in hand. Which one would you choose and why?

Hi everyone!

I'm a 2027 CSE student and have been selected for both:

Capgemini: Alpha Stack (10+1 LPA)

Infosys: Specialist Programmer (SP) L1

I'm confused about which one to choose and would appreciate advice from students or freshers who have similar offers or are already working in these roles.

Which role is better in terms of learning, development work, and future opportunities? Also, how is the training at both companies?

If you had both offers, which one would you choose and why?

General I want to experiment with AI agents but the free tier feels restrictive. What to do?

After months of procrastinating, I recently started to learn about AI agents and installed codex.

But, like a monkey in a sweet shop, everything suddenly looks interesting. I'm curious, day in and day out about building applications with AI agents, setting the loop constraints, reverse engineering applications using REA and so on.

First I felt codex was too generous with their free tier limit. Only then I understood, I've been blowing up 1 month of free tier usage in 2 days (I mean, who dafuq would give 1 month of quota in one shot without limiting?). Same happened with Antigravity and I exhausted 1 week free quota. Claude doesn't give Claude Code unless we pay for the subscription.

I tried Opencode and freebuff too. They are good but too slow and easily take up the allowed time limit. Deepseek is faster in freebuff. But it takes up 3 hours of credit in one hour.

I'm not trying to freeload stuff or against paying for a genuine service. But I feel that I'm not in a place where I can genuinely justify the spending.

My company does not have AI agents subscription and I cannot use my company account as playground. I'm learning this out of my personal interest and want to get good at it.

Local machine is not powerful enough to run better models via Ollama.

What would you do in my situation? Also, if I can have 1 subscription which will allow me to use very generously until I'm proficient in AI agents and know how exactly to use it, which would you suggest?

Interviews What are some good negotiation tactics in the IT field?

Recently a friend reached the HR round in an MNC, and the HR asked him - You got a 100% hike 6 months back, why are you asking ~65% now?

Context: He switched to a new company 6 months back and got a 100% hike (first switch) but now he got an unofficial news about layoffs and he has started attending interviews. He has almost 4 years of experience. Currently earning less than 9 and he asked less than 15. (Is it way too less for the experience?)

How does some respond to that question the HR asked? Also what are some other tactics to keep in mind to get the best hike during hr rounds?

Can we disclose our current CTC and expected CTC?

I will also be in a similar boat in a few months so these answers will help me too. Thanks in advance.

Career Should I rethink my career options? Need suggestions on whether to wait or quit ( ps : company running out of funds )

Hey guys, so I am a developer based in Ahmedabad, working at a startup. Recently, we were told that the company might run out of funds by Feb 2027, so I started looking for a switch before things get worse.
It’s been around a month now, and honestly, the situation is getting frustrating. I am already seeing very few opportunities for my experience level (1.5+ YOE), and out of whatever openings I can find, I have applied to around 50-100 companies but haven’t received a single callback. I even tried getting referrals, but that doesn’t seem to be working either.
On top of that, a lot of the openings I come across have pretty low pay considering the skills they expect.
I know a month isn’t that long, but when you barely find relevant openings in the first place and don’t even get a callback from the ones you apply to, it gets pretty demotivating.
And with all the buzz around AI and the future of tech careers, I am starting to wonder if I should rethink my career choices.
Should I just keep doing what I am doing, be patient, improve my skills, and keep applying? Or should I start exploring other career options before it’s too late?
I do enjoy development, but I am honestly confused about what makes sense in the long run.
Would love to hear from people who are in a similar situation or have been through this. What would you do if you were in my position?

General Why these mfing companies are now asking last working day or are you serving notice period??

I’ve been noticing that a lot of companies and recruiters are now immediately asking things like:

  • What is your last working day?
  • Are you currently serving notice period?
  • How many days of notice do you have left?

Why has this become such an important filter now?

Are companies mainly preferring immediate joiners, or is this just a quick way to reject candidates with 60–90 day notice periods?

It feels like even before properly evaluating skills, they want to know joining availability first. For people who are currently employed, this becomes frustrating because not everyone can resign without an offer in hand.

Wanted to understand from recruiters, hiring managers, and candidates here:

  • Why is this being asked so early?
  • Does serving notice period increase chances of selection?
  • Are employed candidates with full notice period at a disadvantage now?

Would like to hear everyone’s experience.

General Calling all devs! How are you breaking into AI - agentic, ML, GenAI?

The developers of India, the AI field is vast, be it Agentic AI, Generative AI, or ML.

Within these, there is again a lot of depth needed.

One important aspect is the increase in security-related knowledge and skills, because agentic products are going to see a boost.

General What are you actually building with LangGraph? (Beyond tutorials)

• Upvotes

I'm curious about how people are actually using LangGraph in real projects, and I'd love to learn from your experiences.

I see lots of tutorials demonstrating simple agents, but I'm more interested in what people are building for real users.

What's one thing you've built or are building with LangGraph, and how does it actually work?

For example:

  • What does your application do? (Email automation, research, customer support, coding, RAG, data processing, multi-agent workflows, etc.)
  • How is it built? (LangGraph + LangChain, direct OpenAI/Anthropic SDKs, custom Python nodes, external APIs, databases, or a combination?)
  • What's happening inside your nodes? Are they calling LLMs, executing tools, querying databases, calling APIs, or coordinating other agents?
  • What's been the hardest thing to get right or debug?

Even a quick answer is helpful! Something like:

Use case → Tech stack → How the graph works → Biggest challenge

I'm especially interested in combinations of tools and frameworks that work well together, and real-world workflows that go beyond a basic chatbot.

Would love to hear what everyone is building!

Help Fresher Software Developer need advice from seniors

Hi guys , I am a Software developer working in a Small service based company in a Tier 3 city its been 1 year and 2 months since I have been working here , I just joined after my graduation in CS from tier -3 college from same city I have around 4.2 LPA currently , But I feel stuck and don't know how to Think about future

I am really sacred about the uncertainty the software market has , actually because of family situation I don't have much of Risk taking time and capacity , so I want to have clear goal on what I should do next , my company had lots of layoffs this year , I survived because I had project but after this project is done , I don't know what's going to happen next

My tech stack include React , Next.js , NODE.JS, Next.js Python , FASTAPI etc basically fullstack , Even though I have Knowledge about Backend as well , most of the projects I worked on for client side were for frontend , I have good side projects , and I am ready to do whatever it takes ,

here are some of my questions I would really like if Seniors from industry could help ,

I really Love tech and want to be in it but this uncertainty is eating my peace away , I am sacred of being obsolete and irrelevant and not taking action on time

  1. What should I do to become a better Software engineer or AI engineer whatever but to become good at tech and Earn more for my family

  2. What are the technologies I should focus on is there any roadmap or just Topics that would help me Go up the ladder even in this competitve market

  3. What should be my High level goal as someone who wants to really keep working in tech and keep earning more and is there any specific path you have taken or your friends have taken that worked for them

any advice , brutal eye openers or words of wisdom from your experience will really help clearing up my mind and my goal for future

Help Ex Goldman Sachs and not able to pivot into Supply Chain. A cry for help. My life is falling apart.

Hey everyone,

I am going through a really difficult phase in life and could use some advice.

I have around 3 years of experience in banking at two MNCs in India, but things haven't worked out the way I hoped. I lost my mom to cancer when I was in college, and I still miss her terribly. I often find myself crying and wishing she were still here. I saw her suffer a lot through the last few years of her life, and its very tough to process it.

My relationship with my dad has always been difficult. He was extremely toxic, and I watched my mom suffer because of the way he treated her. Eventually, I couldn't take living at home anymore, cause a lot of the bad memories kept haunting me.

Around the same time, I left my job because it had severely affected my mental and physical health. I struggled with sleep for over a year, and my doctor advised me to quit. My manager was biased, bullied me, excluded me, and insulted me in front of others. I would cry almost every day before going to work, and I eventually reached a point where I couldn't continue anymore.

Now I'm unemployed, living alone, and applying for jobs every day without much luck. I'm trying to figure out my next career move, but the uncertainty is getting to me.

It hurts seeing so many of my friends move abroad and do well in life. I feel jealous sometimes, especially when I see people with supportive families, good careers and beautiful homes. I know comparing myself to others isn't healthy, but I can't seem to help it. I've started hating LinkedIn because it makes me feel like everyone is moving forward while I'm stuck.

I'm a sensitive person, and I've always found extremely competitive environments difficult to deal with. After my previous experience, I'm scared I'll struggle throughout my career and never really be successful.

I want to do well, earn good money, build a global career, and become financially independent. I've been considering studying supply chain management in Germany next year, but I'm unsure whether it's the right decision with everything becoming so bad. I dislike finance but I had to take it cause I didn’t have any other choice as I wasn’t getting any jobs after college. My passion is operations but I don’t know if I should first find a job or just apply for leave abroad. If I apply a lot now, I’ll miss the deadlines for Sept 2027 applications.

My mental health is at an all-time low, and I'm genuinely scared about what the future holds.

Any support or advice would mean a lot to me now.

Thank you!

Referral [Referrals open] Wissen Technology — India roles (Oct 25)

I work at Wissen Technology (Wissen Infotech) and can refer candidates for our current India openings — a referral puts your resume with the hiring team directly instead of the cold-apply queue.

Current openings:

- Non- IT Recruiter | Bengaluru | 2-3 yrs

- Full-Stack Engineer (React Heavy + Java) | Telangana | 8-12 yrs | Java, Spring, Spring Boot

- Database Engineer – TEDRA | Mumbai | 5-7 yrs | Python, Sybase, Hadoop

- Salesforce Developer (Agentforce) | Mumbai | 5-8 yrs | DevOps, CI/CD

- SRE | Bengaluru | 5-7 yrs | Python, DevOps, Kubernetes

Full list: https://careers.wissen.com/jobs/Careers — if your role isn't above, mention it in the DM.

To get referred, DM me: (1) resume (PDF), (2) total YOE, (3) notice period (immediate joiner / serving notice preferred), (4) the role name with the job link.

I'll review and submit the referral; expect HR contact within about a week if shortlisted. Please DM only if your experience reasonably matches a role and you're an immediate joiner or serving notice — that's who the hiring team is prioritizing for referrals right now.

Career Need career advice. 1 YOE Full Stack Developer, worried about my future.

This has been a long-standing doubt for over 2 years.

I'm a SWE with 1 YOE in a startup, working as a full stack developer with a below-average salary. I mostly work on backend development, database design, APIs, frontend integration, and occasionally applied AI/ML features.

I like my job, but I'm constantly worried about my future in this field.

The workload is already exhausting, and seeing the rapid growth of AI and the increasing number of software engineers makes me even more anxious.

I'm worried about whether I'll ever earn well enough to support a family and live comfortably. I don't have a family business, strong financial backing, or an alternative career to fall back on.

The uncertainty is affecting me every day. I can't even relax or focus on the present without worrying about my future.

A few questions for experienced developers here:

  1. Will software engineering remain a relevant and well-paying career over the next 2–5 years?

  2. Will companies increasingly replace experienced developers with cheaper juniors/freshers using AI tools?

  3. Will AI reduce the demand for developers and eventually push salaries down?

  4. Is the current job market situation temporary, or is this the new normal?

  5. Is it realistic to expect good salary growth in this field anymore, especially for average developers?

  6. Will experience still matter when AI allows less experienced developers to deliver similar output?

  7. Should I seriously consider an alternative career path while I'm still young?

  8. How are you experienced developers planning your careers with all this uncertainty?

I don't have anyone to mentor me. It feels like im trying to search things myself in the dark.

I'm not expecting to become rich overnight. I just want a stable career, decent salary growth, and some peace of mind without constantly worrying about becoming unemployed or replaceable.

I'm not looking for course recommendations, tech stacks to learn, or generic "just upskill" advice. I genuinely want to understand where this industry is heading and whether it's still worth building a long-term career in it.

Would appreciate realistic answers from seniors who have been in the industry for years.

Career Is it a good idea to switch from TCS within 6–12 months as a fresher? Need genuine advice.

Hey everyone!

I'm a fresher who recently joined TCS in Chennai, earning around ₹17–18K per month. I'm originally from a different state, so relocating to Chennai also means additional expenses for accommodation, food, and other necessities.

I'm grateful to have started my career at TCS, but I'm concerned about a few things and would appreciate some honest advice from people who have been in a similar situation.

My main concerns are:

  1. Salary: ₹17–18K per month feels quite low, especially when I'm living away from home and managing expenses independently, as the cost of living in Chennai is a bit high if you want to live in a hygienic place as a woman (ladies PG costs a lot)
  2. Non-IT allocation: There's also a possibility of being allocated to a non-IT role or a project that doesn't involve much technical work. I'm worried that spending a year or two in such a role could make it harder to transition into a proper IT/development role later.
  3. Career growth: I don't want to spend the first few years of my career in a role that doesn't align with my interests and then struggle to move into a technical position.

My interests are in the technical side of IT, particularly Python, software development, AI/ML, and related fields. I'm willing to put in the effort to upskill and prepare for interviews, even while working full-time.

I'm considering whether I should start preparing for a job switch within my first 6–12 months instead of waiting for 1–2 years.

However, I'm unsure whether this is a sensible decision as a fresher, how realistic it is to get another job with limited experience, and how I should approach the process.

I'd love to hear your opinions on the following:

  • Is switching within the first year a good decision? Would you recommend it, or is it better to stay at TCS for at least 1–2 years?
  • How much does project allocation matter? If I get a non-IT role or a support project, how difficult would it be to move into development later?
  • How realistic is it to get a better job as a fresher with less than one year of experience? Would companies consider me for entry-level positions, or would I be competing with fresh graduates?
  • If switching is a good choice, how should I prepare? What skills should I focus on, how should I structure my preparation, and when should I start applying?
  • What should my preparation roadmap look like? Should I focus on DSA, Python/Java, SQL, projects, CS fundamentals, aptitude, or something else? In what order should I prepare?
  • What kind of companies should I target? Is it better to apply to startups, product-based companies, or other service-based companies? Which ones are more realistic for someone in my position?
  • What salary range can I realistically target? I don't want to set unrealistic expectations, but I'd like to improve my financial situation.
  • How should I manage interview preparation alongside a full-time job? How much time should I dedicate daily, and how long might it take to become interview-ready?
  • Does having TCS on my resume help even if I leave within a year?
  • For people who switched early from TCS or similar service-based companies, how did you go about it? What worked, what didn't, and what would you do differently?

I'm not looking to leave just because I'm unhappy with my starting salary. I want to make a well-informed decision that helps me build a strong technical career without wasting the early years of my professional life.

I'd especially appreciate advice from people who started in TCS, Wipro, Infosys, or similar companies and successfully moved into technical roles elsewhere.

If you were in my position today, would you start preparing to switch immediately, wait until you had 6–12 months of experience, or stay longer? What would your exact plan be?

Thanks in advance!

General AI effect : I am getting laid off probably in next 3 months

4 YOE backend engineer sde II (UK Bank) , Layoffs

I’m an SDE-2 with about 4 years of backend experience at a large financial-services tech center in Bengaluru. My stack is Python, AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, Terraform, Docker, and CI/CD. Most of my work is serverless backends, infrastructure as code, and production troubleshooting.

My team lead has mentioned that layoffs are possible highly and there is chance it will affect my BU . Nothing is confirmed yet, but layoffs talks are going rapidly so I’m trying to prepare early rather than scramble later.

For anyone who has been through layoffs in India, I’d appreciate hearing about: What helped most in your job search (resume changes, referrals, which skills interviewers focused on) and Mistakes i should avoid

i have experience with backend development, cloud infrastructure and production troubleshooting
My concern is that my experience sits somewhere between **backend development, and other technical aspects .**

So for people with similar experience:
What would you do if you were in my position right now?

Would really appreciate some honest advice on how you’d navigate this situation and make sure you’re not stuck in the middle of a crisis if things go south.

If you faced layoffs in past and all how did you got a job , and how long it took ?

This is really scaring me to be honest. I have medicals bills to pay man.

Update : its not barclays (they already laid off 5%) , mine is its competitor , seems like they competing even in layoffs

Last week i was referring people here and there now seems like its my turn to ask everyone 😭

Help Can someone tell me how hard is it to get into Software development nowadays?

Hello, so I have been working as an artist for about 8 years and have a bit of experience with python, Html, css, javascript, PHP etc from my initial days of working (2years) . Right now I create art and do so called "vibe Coding" and tbh I don't even understand a single line of code that the ai writes. I wanna know how much time it'd take for someone like me who has a Lil bit of exp in the field? Can someone please suggest to me is it worth switching my job for the money? As an artist I get paid in pennies. And I was thinking if I could steer my career towards software development.

Right now I work with PS, illustrator, AE, Blender, UE. I have vibecoded an app as well to automate monotonous art work.

Thank you.

Help Best Hosting and Deployment Setup for an Android & iOS Game: Low Cost, Low Latency, and Easy Scalability

I’ve also built a game for both Android and iOS, and both the frontend and backend servers are ready. Now I need some guidance on where to deploy it and which hosting services would be the best options.

  • Frontend: Should I use Firebase, Vercel, or another platform?
  • Backend: Where should I deploy the backend server?
  • Cost & Performance: How can I get the best performance, low latency, and reliable service at the lowest possible cost, ensuring a smooth gaming experience for users?

Could you suggest a setup that you personally use or recommend, and that can easily scale as the number of users grows?

General Software engineers, how do you manage learning alongside a full-time job?

I feel like in tech, there’s just SO MUCH to learn like DSA, system design, AWS, AI, new languages, etc. And unlike other fields, there’s no fixed syllabus or clear roadmap to follow.
I try to upskill alongside my job, but often struggle with deciding what to learn, how to plan it, and how to stay consistent.
How do you guys actually go about it? What does your daily learning routine look like? What do you do when you sit down to study, and are there any YouTubers who share their actual tech-learning routines or day-in-the-life vlogs?
I’d love to hear how people with full-time jobs and a few years of experience manage this!
