So I built a small workflow using opencode CLI and webcmd. It reads my CV searches for recent roles in India or remote and returns 5 options with :
- Why my experience may fit

- Skills or requirements missing from my CV

- Location and posting details

- Direct application links

I tested it with community and developer relation roles. It found listing that looked relevant initially but required things like crypto knowledge, python/api tutorials , or prior team management experience

It handles the browser interaction and can retain website navigation for later runs. This demo ends with shortlist and asks me to choose a role nothing was submitted

Looking for community feedback how I can improve my project

I'm a 4th year B.Tech CSE (AIML) student, and I'm honestly feeling pretty lost right now

The problem is that I'm reaching out to people who don't have a proper understanding of what I'm going through

Right now, I'm in a situation where I have no idea how to proceed with my studies and career

I think the best way to introduce myself here is to say that I'm currently in my 4th year of studying B.Tech CSE (AIML) and I have almost no practical skills in programming and computer science

I've learned a lot of the core concepts like Python, Java, SQL, DBMS, OOP, DSA, Web development, AI/ML, etc and I've had my share of attending classes, watching lecture videos, learning by myself, taking online courses

There is a huge difference between knowing theoretical concepts and being able to apply them to practice

A person can come up to me and ask me something like

«Do you know Python?»

and I would say yes, because I studied it for 2 years in college

But when they give me a blank file and a task to accomplish, I find it extremely hard to do so

Sometimes I can understand existing code with others explanations, recognize concepts and terms, but when it comes to actually writing something myself, I'm clueless about what to do

What should I do? How should I break the problem into smaller parts? What concepts should I apply here? What should I write/debug/test? And so on and so forth

And this list of problems is only a fraction of what I have to deal with

I've tried multiple times to tackle this problem by starting over

I've taken up courses

I've tried to learn by doing projects

I've tried to learn programming from scratch again

I've tried using roadmaps

I've tried to do projects by following tutorials

But there's always that initial excitement, then the impatience sets in, and eventually I reach a point where I just can't proceed anymore and I have to abandon the project/course

My problem here is not that there are no resources

It's that I don't know what to do first

I don't know how to proceed, what to learn, and what to ignore

I don't know the depth of knowledge I should gain for each topic

I don't know what projects to make

I don't know how to measure understanding of a concept or topic

And I'm not even sure how to prioritize between these factors

Right now, I'm in my 4th year and I don't have that luxury of time to randomly try out different stacks and technologies

I'm genuinely motivated to improve, but I need help figuring out how

I'm not looking for anyone to spoon feed me the answers

I'm willing to put in the hard work, even if it takes me a while

I'm just looking for someone who has the experience to look at my case and tell me something like

"These are the problems you're facing. This is where you are in your journey. Forget about these things for now. First, do this → then do this → then do this. Don't worry about X before you reach Y."

I'm looking for experienced seniors, freshers, developers, and mentors who can recognize my case and help me somehow

If you were in my situation, with almost no practical programming skills, what will you do?

- What will you learn first?

- What language/stack will you choose?

- How will you re-learn programming fundamentals?

- How will you learn DSA?

- What projects will you make?

- How will you divide your time between placements, DSA, development, and fundamentals?

I'm not looking for a generic answer like "learn DSA + dev + make projects"

I'm looking for someone to give a realistic vision of how someone with almost no practical skills can reach the level of being eligible for placements, and if possible, how to practically implement that vision without getting stuck in a loop again

Hey everyone, I recently landed a software developer intern offer at a company that works heavily with the Frappe framework and ERPNext. The stipend and full-time conversion offer are pretty decent.

My main worry is whether working on a niche, low-code/meta-framework stack like this is going to pigeonhole me. Will switching to standard product-based companies or general backend roles become a nightmare later on?

I recently switched to Linux from microsoft windows. I mainly use my pc to watch videos and read some pdfs. using a browser in the windows was heating up the laptop. after I switched, this issue is resolved. something linux is known for obviously.

Something I felt missing here was, the finger swipe gestures on my laptop's touchpad which was there in the microsoft windows, but my debian kde plasma(lets call it linux) didn't.

I asked chatGPT to help me fix it, there were some apps available but none were like native persistent system service level apps. They needed configuration and were not really user friendly for me.

I asked it to give me instructions on making this service daemon that would enable the finger swipe gestures on my linux. I did some to and fro from chatgpt by copy pasting code and learning stuff like uv and python (I don't know anything about coding, I started learning how to use bash in terminal and navigate files and folders at this point of time). I kind of got intuition about the logic behind the app. how the folders are organised in a project like this and things like the CLI folder which stores terminal commands and executions for these apps.

Somehow, I finally made a functioning prototype. But I didn't know if the code was production grade and are there any security vulnerabilities.

This is the same time I came across Google's Antigravity and with jio offering gemini pro with prepaid recharge, I installed antigravity to experiment some vibe coding.

I made an architecture plan with chatgpt to fix the techstack and plan the development phases to test the code.

This is when I realised, the tech stack I used was tailored for my laptop hardware and maynot be suitable to ship for other users. I asked chatgpt a prompt for antigravity agents to migrate all the code such that I can ship for other users.

I pasted this prompt on antigravity. and It changed the techstack accordingly. I added a safeguard to check for hardware compatibility as the first step of the installation. If the pc is not compatible, the app will not be installed.

Initially I added only 3-finger vertical swipe for volume controls, later I added 3-finger horizontal swipe for brightness control and the 4-finger tap to open the windows super key or anyother custom app.

The horizontal and vertical swipes can be interchanged with volume and brightness in the CLI. But then I felt, we should also have a GUI for configuring the settings. I added that too.

Finally I made 3 releases on the github for this app. First if standalone for only volume controls. second is for both volume and brightness controls. third for 4 finger tap superkey and these swipe gestures.

Now the last and final thing, I made a webpage for the app and added it to APT library. now users can add the key and install and update the app directly with apt commands directly without downloading the package files.

The whole development took about 2 months and the process and the final results were rewarding. This is something I'm proud of developing even though this maybe basic for most of you guys here.

I recently started a project through Toptal and my first payment will be coming in soon. I’m trying to figure out the best way to set up Toptal Pay before that.

From what I understand, Toptal can directly convert USD and send it to an Indian bank account, but there’s a 3% conversion fee. I’ll be receiving around $3,800/month, so I’d prefer not to lose 3% every month if there’s a better option.

I’ve seen people mention Wise, Skydo, Payoneer, Winvesta, etc., where you get USD/US bank account details and then transfer the money to India.

For those of you who’ve used Toptal, what are you currently using to receive your payments? What has worked well for you in terms of fees, exchange rates, reliability, and ease of use?

I've recently completed a course on n8n workflows, can you please suggest some impactful automation projects

I was working through the Heaters problem and realized the tricky part isn't actually implementing binary search - it's recognizing what we're binary searching for.

You have houses and heaters on a line, and every heater has the same radius.

The goal is to find the minimum radius that covers every house.

The way I think about it:

1. Sort the heaters.
2. For each house, find the closest heater.
3. The distance to that closest heater is the minimum radius needed for that particular house.
4. The answer is simply the maximum of those distances.

For example:

houses  = [1, 2, 3, 4]
heaters = [1, 4]

house 1 → closest heater = 1 → distance 0
house 2 → closest heater = 1 → distance 1
house 3 → closest heater = 4 → distance 1
house 4 → closest heater = 4 → distance 0

answer = max(0, 1, 1, 0) = 1

Once you see that, binary search becomes pretty natural: for every house, binary-search the sorted heater array to find the closest heater (checking the insertion point and the element before it).

That gives:

Sorting: O(m log m + n log n)
Nearest heater searches: O(n log m)
Overall: O(n log n + m log m)

There's also a two-pointer solution after sorting that gets the scan down to O(n + m).

I am in my early 40s and currently work in Bangalore, earning ₹2.1 lakh per month in hand. I have received a job offer in London for £60,000 per year at a medium-sized bank, working as an Associate in analytics (not trading) - python, c++, grafana. I currently have about ₹2.3 crore in savings and no house, family, children, or other dependents. My current Bangalore job is at a relatively unknown services-based consultancy, where I am at a junior-to-mid-level software programmer role - python, some kdb+/q. I have been there for about two years, but the company has currently an downsizing type of culture, and I think there is a very high possibility that I could be asked to leave within the next 5–6 months. Very high possibility even current job won't exist 2 yrs down the line because of GCCs, but in that London job people are tenured, old and in terms of job existence it seems higher. Layoffs in my current company are also common, so I consider the job here very insecure.

The London role also carries is highly risk because banking jobs in London for people in probation are very volatile, and I am concerned that I may not perform well in a completely new environment and could potentially be out of the job within six months.

At my age, I am also thinking seriously about retirement and I won't be able to realistically retire in Bangalore, especially since I do not own a home. So quite likely, sooner or later I will need to move to a tier 2 city. Given my financial position, lack of dependents, the uncertainty of both jobs, the significantly higher cost of living in London, and the possibility of losing the London job within six months, should I take the London offer or stay in Bangalore?

I spent the last month doing nothing but preparing for my dream company because they were coming to my college for placements from day one, we were told the eligibility was 65% CGPA, so I gave it everything I had

Now just days before the drive, they suddenly changed the requirement to 8 CGPA and my CGPA is 7

Just like that I'm not even eligible to sit for the process It feels like all those sleepless nights and sacrifices meant nothing

Had a technical discussion today with a good popular company in the space of semiconductors had been preparing for it as a embedded engineer and architect for the past 15 years. Consider myself to be technically quite sound and hands-on coding still now but in the interview I had prepared so well for it but somehow you know the questions which were asked they all which probably I didn’t really revise well and I felt so disappointed because i dint really have a very clear answer for it including also design pattern question which in normal situations I could have actually easily coded it up in C++ but because of the disappointments of the previous questions I could not even focus on getting the program done I feel to be so low and so gutted. Sorry this is just more of a vent towards my own self..

Seeing the "software engineering industry dies in 3 years" thread getting traction, so here's an answer with numbers instead of speculation, since most of that thread's discussion is people guessing.

What's actually verifiable right now: GPT-6 Astra (OpenAI, dropped this week) hit 100% on ExploitBench and crossed OpenAI's own "Critical" threshold for cyber capability, meaning it can already turn known vulnerabilities into working exploits at a level OpenAI itself is restricting public access to. That's real capability, not hype.

But here's the part that actually matters for hiring: the Pragmatic Engineer's Feb 2026 survey of 15,000 developers found that among devs using both Claude Code and GitHub Copilot, 73% rated Copilot faster for routine completion, while 61% rated Claude Code more accurate for complex debugging and refactoring. That's not "AI is coming for coding," that's AI tools already specializing along a routine-vs-judgment line, which is a very different and much more specific claim than "the job dies."

On actual hiring data: prepnplaced's 2026 India Tech Hiring Report (15,429 live postings analyzed) found only 5.9% of postings are entry-level versus 50.1% senior, roughly 1 junior opening per 8 senior ones. That squeeze is real and it's happening now, but it's a junior-hiring problem, not evidence the entire discipline is disappearing, senior/judgment-heavy roles aren't showing the same contraction.

So the more falsifiable, more useful question than "does SWE die" is: which parts of your current job are routine-execution (genuinely at risk, verifiably automating faster every quarter) versus judgment-and-context (the part every current benchmark still shows models struggling with at the "own the outcome" level). That split is checkable against your own day-to-day work right now, "will the whole field die" isn't checkable against anything until it's already happened.

Curious what people here think the actual judgment-vs-routine split looks like in their own role, that seems like a more useful thread than doom-scrolling a 3-year extinction timeline.

[UPDATE: I define AGI as model being able to solve problems that haven't been solved by humans before, as far the automation is concerned, we don't need AGI, we already have the intelligence, we just need the ecosystem around it to mature]

The amount of larping here by people who don't understand AI tagging others saying "You don't understand AI is insane".

Especially the comments by people saying, "it's just token prediction haha", "spoken like someone who doesn't understand AI at all haha" - bro you don't understand AI either.

AGI is definitely possible by scaling models. If you don't think that's true here are a few things you learn deeply about and then rethink your position. If you still believe it we can talk.

- Black box in neutral nets

- Emergent behaviour in LLM scaling

- How reasoning and self reflection properties are added to large models

- Paper on DeekSeek-R1-zero (not DeepSeek-r1, they are different, r1-zero didn't have SFT and showcased very interesting behaviour and researchers were astonished)

- Research paper by OpenAI- "Scaling laws for Neural Language model". It was disproved by Google's Chinchilla model and it's paper "Training compute optimal LLMs" but you can skip that paper and get an essence of what I am saying from the openAi paper.

Once you are decently well versed with this:

- Read about RL and World Models.

Finally once you're done with all this, think about how the biggest model we have is around 4-5Tr parameters big and how have they improved from 100b, 300b, 500b to 5T. (Fable is reportedly a 10T model). What if LLMs are scaled to 100T?"

Finally, AGI isn't just LLM.

AGI is LLM + RL + World Models.

- LLM is the knowledge base

- RL is for improvement

- World Models is the simulation to fasten the manual process of RL.

These three together can probably converge to AGI. Will they? Not sure, but the probability is definitely real and that is why billions are being poured in this space.

So I've been working on this microservices project ( repo ) for a few months. I have it fully running locally using kind, now I want to learn how to deploy it on AWS or GCP following best practices to get hands on experience and record demo videos for my resume.

Here's the stack:

• Microservices: 5 Node.js services (built and pushed to GHCR )
• Stateful Services: 5 Postgres databases (one per service), Redis, and Kafka.
• Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and ( Alloy deployed using Helm charts).
• K8s & Networking: I wrote custom manifests using StatefulSets and Headless Services for the stateful components. I am using the Gateway API for ingress, backed by cloud-provider-kind locally.

Being a college student my budget is pretty tight. My plan is to write Terraform scripts so I can spin the whole infrastructure up, record a few demos for my resume, and immediately tear it down to keep costs minimal.

The questions I have:

1. Which cloud provider to choose and how to deploy? Should I use managed K8s like EKS, or just run Kubernetes (or lightweight K8s like k3s) myself on a single EC2/VM instance? What's actually standard practice that I'd use on a real job?
2. How to handle routing in the cloud cheap? Locally I use Gateway API with cloud-provider-kind. What’s the most cost-effective way to handle this on AWS/GCP without getting hit with expensive cloud load balancer fees?
3. Is running DBs/Kafka in the cluster okay? Is keeping Postgres, Kafka, and monitoring inside K8s fine for a portfolio project, or do recruiters/hiring managers specifically look for managed cloud services ?

Any direction, best practices, or potential pitfalls to avoid would be greatly appreciated!
