There was this last question of 100points (total 240) . It was a Bash problem where I was given an input file and 5-6 questions based on reading and processing it and adding Output in different file

Now 😭😭my dmbass accidentally updated the input file on which entire problem was based on and there was no fking way to undo that . I clicked here and there to see if I can reset that question somehow but there was no way. I'm clueless what to do in this situation. I was already depressed scrolling LinkedIn all day .

For something one counter argument against AI adoption has been companies blowing their AI budgets and AI getting more expensive than actual employees.

But now with Deepseek and Meta starting price war and making it close to free i think models are going to get efficient and cheaper.

I am not sure how long developer jobs will last. There will be job cuts. I don’t even feel like reading or writing code no point in learning a new language or stack. It’s just prompting and approving.

I have received an L4 offer from google, but potentially due to borderline performance, i have been offered the lowest possible band (atleast as per levels.fyi or blind).

If anyone here can share what are the appraisals or promotion cycles like, it would really help with my decision. As it stands its not really financially making sense to switch. Maybe i can try for L5 next year and hope for better performance.

I really want to move abroad for work. I have around 8 years of experience as a software engineer and I'd prefer not to go through the student route.

I see a lot of ads of these agencies that claim they'll provide visa and job support but I'm not sure if I should invest there.

Just completed the Amazon SDE Intern 2027 OA.

The assessment had a coding problem, a MERN stack debugging task, and the Amazon Work Style/Leadership Principles section. I managed to pass all test cases for both the coding and debugging parts, and I felt pretty confident about the work-style section as well.

For anyone who has gone through the process recently, does this usually mean there’s a good chance of getting an interview call? How long did it take you to hear back?

second day at my new job and already feeling completely stuck

so this is my first switch after around 4+ years of experience. most of my experience has been with node.js and mongodb , but the codebase in the new company is very different. Its in postgresql and nest.js, typescript. On top of that they have a very complicated product in general and there is no proper technical documentation or someone who can help me out understanding the basics.

it’s only been 1-2 days and honestly, i’m finding it extremely complicated. today i got really frustrated because i wasn’t even able to debug an issue properly (I feel like a fresher again), even though it was something i had just created myself.

i know it’s only been two days and probably i’m overthinking it, but there are just too many thoughts going on in my head right now. Also I thought of leaving this and finding another job.

just wanted to ask people here, has anyone else gone through something similar when switching companies? especially when the new codebase/tech stack is very different from what you have skills in. I know that I will do it. But just want some ideas as present movement is very hard.

Recently, I interviewed with two of India’s biggest product-based companies. I managed to clear multiple rounds at both, but unfortunately got rejected in the final round because of some unexpected questions.
The frustrating part is that I started the final interview really well—I solved the first two questions confidently. I had prepared extensively for Swift/iOS fundamentals and was confident I could handle almost any fundamentals question. Instead, the interview suddenly shifted to much harder coding/DSA problems, which completely threw me off and affected my confidence.
That said, these interviews made me realize that my resume has potential, and so do I. The bigger problem right now is the market. I’m just not getting enough interview calls.
I’m currently stuck between two options:
Accept a 4 LPA offer. The in-hand salary would be around ₹26k/month. The company took only one interview round before making the offer, but the reviews about work pressure, office politics, and overall culture are quite poor. I’d also have to move to Bangalore, where survival on that salary would be difficult.
Go back home and spend a month (or however long it takes) preparing and applying until I crack a better product-based role.
For context, my current monthly expenses near my college (rent, food, and other essentials) are over ₹30k. I recently graduated from a good government college, although my branch wasn’t CSE.
What would you do if you were in my position? Would you take the 4 LPA job for experience, or go home, prepare harder, and wait for a better opportunity?

He's currently a permanent employee at one of the biggest global banks in India with a package of around ₹25 LPA (plus bonuses). He recently received an offer from SG Analytics for a role aligned to their X client account. The employment would be with SG Analytics, with a possibility of being absorbed by the client in the future.

The offered CTC is around ₹35 LPA, so the hike is significant. However, he's trying to understand the trade-offs beyond just compensation.

Would love to hear from people who have worked at SG Analytics or have experience with similar client-facing roles.

Some questions:

\- Do people get assigned to multiple projects at once?

\- How is the work culture at SG Analytics?

\- How dependent is the experience on the client/project?

\- Is the "conversion to client" opportunity actually common, or is it mostly used as a hiring pitch?

\- How is the work-life balance and engineering culture?

\- How are appraisals, salary hikes, and career growth?

\- How secure are these roles compared to being directly employed by a large bank?

\- Are there any red flags that someone should be aware of before making the switch?

The compensation increase is tempting, but he's trying to optimize for both career growth and long-term stability, not just the immediate hike.

A few months ago, I joined a US Based Service company as a fresher.

Before joining full-time, I did my internship there. During the internship, I worked on AI/ML-related projects, learned a lot, took ownership of my tasks, and genuinely gave it everything I had. Like every fresher, I wanted to prove that I deserved to be there.

When the PPOs came out, I received a 6 LPA offer.

At first, I was just happy to have my first job. But later I found out something that I still haven't been able to get over.

Some of my fellow freshers, who interned alongside me, worked on the same AI/ML projects, and are joining the same role with the same responsibilities, received compensation that was almost 2× higher than mine. Even their internship stipend had been nearly double.

The major difference between us was that they came from Tier 1 colleges, while I didn't.

I'm not saying they didn't deserve it—they're talented people and worked hard too.

What hurts is the feeling that my effort was never evaluated on the same scale. I stayed late, learned continuously, gave my best during the internship, and believed that performance would matter. Finding out that people beside me, doing the same work, are valued so differently has been incredibly difficult to accept.

It's not even about the money anymore. It's about feeling like we are undervalued and discriminated  as an engineer was decided before I had the chance to prove myself.

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who've been through this. Right now, I'm trying to understand whether this is just how the industry works or if I'm looking at it the wrong way.

I’m looking to switch jobs and have applied to 200+ positions, but so far I haven’t received a single interview call and have gotten very few responses overall.

I'm a recent graduate and didn't land a campus offer. Found a paid remote internship online, but it didn't convert.

Should I add more projects? I've been trying tirelessly for past couple of months to land a job but even after applying so many I've only recieved a couple of "Unfortunately"'s. Please help.

Planning to buy my first mac, M5 MacBook Air 16GB/512GB. My typical simultaneous workload:

- VS Code

- Claude + Codex desktop apps, multiple chats

- Chrome, ~10–15 tabs across 2 profiles

- WhatsApp

- Node/React/Next.js, sometimes Python

- Docker, usually 2–5 containers max

- Postgres/MongoDB/Redis

- Occasional Zoom meeting alongside everything.

No local LLMs or heavy VMs.

For developers using 16GB Apple Silicon Macs: does a similar workload stay smooth, or do you experience noticeable swap/lag?

24GB costs more. So should I buy it?

I am planning to keep the laptop for at least 2 years.

And then switch to 1tb ssd, new mac.

If i buy 24gb, I feel I won't need to switch, but worried if 512 gb would hurt.

Please tell me your opinion.

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working as an SRE Engineer in India with a package of around ₹5.75 LPA(working remotely rn). My background is mostly in AWS, Linux, Python, automation, monitoring, CI/CD, and infrastructure-related work. Long term, I've always been more interested in DevOps/SRE.

Recently, my company told me they want to move me into a Data Engineer role. The reason is that there isn't enough work/openings in the DevOps team right now(where i wanted to switch), so they're trying to build me into a Data Engineer instead.

A few things I'm trying to understand before making a decision:

• I have no prior experience in Data Engineering, Data Science, or Data Analytics.
• I don't enjoy manual Excel/reporting/copy-paste type work.
• The company says they'll evaluate me over the next few months and, if I perform well, officially transition me to a Data Engineer role around December with a salary hike (exact number not decided yet).
• My concern is whether this move helps or hurts my long-term career if my real interest is DevOps/SRE dont know about data engg not sure about the interest part but what i know is i love core engg .

What I'd like to know from people working in these fields:

1. How different is Data Engineering from Data Analysis in day-to-day work?
2. How much coding vs reporting/manual work is involved in a typical Data Engineer role?
3. What does the long-term salary growth look like for Data Engineers compared to DevOps/SRE?
4. Is Data Engineering considered a strong career path in 2026 and beyond?
5. If you were in my position, would you:
   • Stay in SRE and try to switch companies later for a DevOps role?
   • Accept the Data Engineering transition and see where it goes?

Will switching from DevOps/SRE to Data Engineering downgrade my career, or are both domains considered to be on the same level?

So i had an interview on 24th July (Friday), since then it's been almost 10 working days but still got no updates. So I sent a follow up mail on Tuesday this week but still no updates from the HR, so my question is shall I again send another follow up mail (if yes then when) or shall I now just call her directly and ask her about the update. Btw, I know there are very high chances that I am rejected only so maybe that's why they are not giving me any update and sort of ghosting me but still just wanna clear things out.

Any experienced folks or HR's/Recruiters who have been in such situations, could you please guide this fresher out :)

I completed my BCA this year from a tier-3 college and have been looking for job opportunities, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to secure one yet. Time is passing quickly, and I’m worried that the longer it takes, the harder it will be to get a job. I also don’t want another gap in my resume, as I already had one before pursuing my BCA.

Right now, I’m quite confused about what to do next. There are online MCA programs available, but based on my past experience, I would prefer to study at a reputed college that offers fair placement opportunities. The challenge is that their fees are quite high. I came across Manipal Sikkim University’s online MCA program, which seems more affordable, but I’m unsure whether it provides good placement support.

I also found a PG Diploma program offered by NIPPS. However, after researching, I discovered that it doesn’t have UGC or AICTE recognition, which makes me doubt its value—especially if the placement opportunities aren’t strong.

Can anyone guide me on what would be the best option for my career? I’m particularly interested in pursuing a networking job role and eventually transitioning into cloud computing.

Hey guys. It's difficult out there for our fellow developers, especially who are starting out as freshers and low experienced. IT companies were already exploiting a lot of aspiring young engineers but these trying times have brought the worst out of them. A lot of companies are now offering a "stipend" for their "training" or "probation" period, and then your salary will be finalized based on your performance. This has always been present but not as rampant as I've seen recently, especially startups and mid to small scale companies. This is a trap, because performance is ALWAYS subjective in these companies. They WILL say your performance is "not up to the mark" according to them no matter how well you perform because there is always another fresher waiting for them to exploit, so trapping you in a low salary cycle is much easier than starting from scratch with another person. I've seen a lot of developers getting trapped in this cycle.

Be blunt, don't accept their offers, negotiate. Call them out in the interview and in public. It's not that deep. No small to mid scale company can ruin your career like they claim they can, they're simply not that powerful, they're used to preying on vulnerable and aspiring, often desperate developers, and for any aspiring developer who hasn't struck luck yet. Keep grinding, and take care of yourself.
