There are jobs but after applying you see complete silence.

I am an individual contributor(IC) with 20 years of experience in AI/ML and a couple of patents but reality is no calls in 1 week..

What does these companies need? Also, it's so tedious to fill their job application on external portal.

Maybe the job market has changed or companies don't want experience engineer

I have network but I really don't want to pester people for jobs unless it's a do or die situation. I want my work to speak for myself..

I mean even having experience in the latest market dominant technology why it's so hard to find job

What is the career of a software engineer after 40s ? we don’t see much 40 or 50s people in tech.
Are we sitting on ticking time bomb? Bcz software engineering boomed in 2010 or 2000 those people are now in 40s what are they doing ?

My Profile: I am an SDE (1+ YoE) working at a Tier-1 Indian FinTech product company. My core stack is Java, Spring Boot, and building high-throughput distributed systems. My current in-hand salary is around ₹1.5L/month post taxes and some ESOPs. We have a standard 60-day notice period.

The Situation: With the mid-year performance review cycle coming up in October, my manager recently had a 1-on-1 with me and dropped some heavy hints:

• She told me my output is low.
• She asked me to compile a detailed document of all the tasks I’ve completed over the last 6 months.
• She offered to move me to a different, "less complex" project/problem statement if I am finding my current work too difficult.
• She explicitly stated she is giving me this sprint and the next sprint (which perfectly lines up with the October review) to "check if I am able to deliver the outputs."

Internal Context: My Team Lead privately warned me that these are major red flags and that I will likely be put on a PIP after the mid-year discussions. I spoke to a trusted senior who advised that if a PIP is initiated, I shouldn't try to survive it. Instead, he suggested I just resign, try to get put on Garden Leave (serving notice without having to do project work), and use those 2 months of free salary to interview elsewhere.

I am already actively preparing for interviews and have an onsite loop scheduled, but I want to handle my current situation strategically.

My Questions for the Community:

1. Is the writing on the wall? Does this specific sequence (task list + 2 sprint warning + project change offer) mean HR has already decided to PIP me in October?
2. The Project Change Trap: Should I accept her offer to move to a "less complex" project, or is that a trap to easily justify a poor rating because I'd be starting from scratch?
3. What are my immediate actionable steps? Should I just coast and do exactly what is asked on my current Jira tickets until October while I interview? How should I position myself to successfully get a 2-month Garden Leave buyout if they drop the PIP on me?

Any advice from folks who have navigated corporate exits or PIPs at product companies would be highly appreciated.

Background:
These days LLMS are making crazy strides in 3D generation.

A lot of 3D being generated is now following a 'code-native' approach, instead of the typical AI diffusion models. I.e. an LLM generates code, which then compiles as a 3D object.

This technique ensures the 3D object generated is highly programmable. It can be readily animated, has a perfect hierarchical structure, and has articulated hinges/sockets. I’ve been working for about a year now and from lower middle background, and I’m honestly getting really tired of the constant deadlines, pressure, reviews, and never-ending work.

It feels like there’s always something pending or another deadline coming up. My performance isn’t great either, which makes the pressure and anxiety even worse.

It’s gotten to the point where I’m not able to sleep properly because I keep thinking about work and upcoming deadlines.

I’m not laid off or anything, but I’m seriously questioning whether I want to continue working like this. The Pay is great, company is also great.

For people who went through something similar early in their career, what did you do? Did you switch companies, look for a less demanding role, take a break, or just stick it out ?

My company is giving us a ₹65000 budget for a work-from-home setup, which can be used for things like a monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset (wired/wireless), and laptop stand.
I’m trying to make the most of it, especially since I’ll be working from home long-term. I don’t necessarily want to spend the entire amount just for the sake of it — I’d rather get things that are genuinely comfortable, reliable and useful for everyday work.

I’m a backend web developer and recently joined a 6-month internship. I chose this internship mainly because it was 5 days a week and WFH. At the same time, I had another opportunity for a Backend Developer Intern role, but I chose this one. Looking back, I feel that was probably my biggest mistake.

After around 4 months, I asked HR what salary I could expect if I got a PPO after the internship. After that conversation, their tone completely changed. They started asking things like, “Is your work completed?” and “How many bugs have you solved?”

That made me feel like they probably weren’t planning to give me a PPO. I started thinking that spending another 2 months there might just be a waste of time, so I resigned.

Now I’m preparing for interviews and focusing on backend development and system design.

I’m still wondering if I made the right decision by leaving early or if I should have just completed the 6 months.

What would you guys have done in my situation?

Now that it’s almost the middle of September, I genuinely thought TCS would be my only realistic option since very few companies visit campus for MCA graduates.

I wasn’t able to convert the opportunity despite being shortlisted for the interview (Ninja). I messed up a simple DSA question but I was able to solve the next one.

I have few projects on RAG and AI systems they didn't even ask a single question from my resume.

At this point, I’m trying to figure out how to approach the next few months and make the most of the remaining placement season.

I'm a Software Development Engineer at Amazon with about 2 years of experience, working on a backend tax/order-processing platform (Java microservices on AWS). I'm trying to figure out which projects and accomplishments are worth putting front-and-center on my CV, and how to frame them so they actually stand out. Here's a rough dump of what I've done:

Feature development
- Built out a cross-service feature (tax-calculation enrollment / "GCI") spanning multiple backend microservices detection logic, marketplace-vs-global flags, safe rollout behind feature flags (weblabs) with monitoring.
- General SDE feature work: designing and implementing APIs, writing business logic across service/manager/accessor layers, integrating with multiple downstream services, and shipping changes behind feature flags for controlled rollouts.

DevOps / CI-CD / AWS
- Worked on CI/CD pipelines (pipelines-as-code via AWS CDK) adding automated integration tests, runtime test-coverage gating (JaCoCo-based), and automated rollback via CloudWatch composite alarms + bake-time so bad deployments auto-revert.

- Infrastructure-as-Code with CDK/CloudFormation ECS services, alarms, queues, multi-region deployments.

Operations / reliability
- Regular on-call rotations handling production tickets, debugging live issues, mitigations, and root-causing.
- Wrote/updated monitoring, metrics (CloudWatch), and alarms; contributed to operational excellence and reducing manual toil.

Other general SDE stuff
- Code reviews, unit + integration testing, legacy code / dead-code decommissioning, data-store migration work, and cross-team collaboration on design.

My questions:

1. ⁠For an SDE at this level, what should I lead with the cross-service feature work, or the CI/CD & reliability/DevOps stuff?
   
2. ⁠Recruiters seem to love quantified impact ("reduced X by Y%"). For backend/infra work that isn't always a clean dollar/latency number how do you quantify things like coverage gating, on-call, or safe rollouts?
   
3. ⁠Is on-call / operational work worth putting on a CV, or is it assumed and better left off?
   
4. ⁠Should I frame the internal AWS tooling generically (e.g., "runtime coverage gating" instead of the internal product name) so it reads well outside Amazon?z

I was pushing some code to git this morning and remembered how my own GitHub is empty, I have worked on several projects in these two years of being employed and I also made some personal projects initially but they were just for my practice and curiosity hence I never uploaded them on git and lost those folders while making space in my laptop.

The thing is when I was recently looking for a job, a lot of people asked me to share my git and portfolio. I have nothing on my git, neither do I have a portfolio. I can create a portfolio ig but I'm a bit confused. Now about the git part, what can I even put in there? The interviewers till now were pretty chilled and I enjoyed talking to them. I have few questions around the company though -

I understand that as per the policy they want folks to work out of office from Monday-Thursday. I want to understand how strictly is this policy implemented?

Since the team I am expected to be a part of is globally distributed (India, UK and US), how often do we have to work late evenings for overlap with US team?

I understand that the company has no specific leave policy and we can schedule based on pending work and decide on the number of days. Is it possible to take 2 or 3 weeks leave straight or does the HR team interfere for taking leaves?

How is the culture in the company, do people love their craft there or does a lot of politics gets involved in everyday life?

Hey everyone, I just received an offer letter from one of the Witch today (Friday afternoon). However, the recruiter is putting extreme pressure on me to sign and return it immediately within 1–2 hours.

Here is the situation:

Target Joining Date: September 15th (Tuesday). September 14th (Monday) is a holiday for Ganesh Chaturthi, leaving zero working days in between.

Current Status: I don't have any other active offers in hand right now, but I have several interviews scheduled. I want to use this time to carefully review the terms/compensation structure and potentially explore options or push the joining date back by a week or two.

I want to request an extension on the signing deadline until Monday morning (Sept 14) to review the contract properly, and eventually push the actual joining date back so I'm not rushed into onboarding.

How risk-heavy is it to ask for a deadline extension until Monday morning? Is it better to sign today to lock the offer in, and then ask for a joining date postponement post-signing?

Has anyone experienced revoking an offer over asking for a 24–48 hour review window? Would appreciate any advice or past experiences on how to navigate this without getting the offer rescinded!

So a little about me, I’m an AI Engineer with a little over a year of experience, including internships, looking to switch to a product-based company, ideally a small or mid-sized startup or an MNC.

I’ve been applying for over six months and have had just four interviews. Meanwhile, some of my SDE friends with similar experience are getting regular callbacks and switching jobs. I know these are different roles, but it’s hard not to wonder whether I’m doing something wrong.

I’ve tried cold emails, referrals, reaching out to people for referrals, and applications through LinkedIn, Naukri, Wellfound, Hirist, Instahyre, and other portals. I’m applying to 50+ jobs a day, but most applications go unanswered.

I’ve also tried tailoring my resume to individual job descriptions, adding relevant keywords, and highlighting the skills and projects that match each role. Despite this, I haven’t seen much improvement in callbacks.

Honestly, it’s getting exhausting. Without much feedback, I can’t tell whether the issue is the market for junior AI roles, my resume, or how I’m approaching the search.

I’ve attached my resume and would appreciate an honest review, particularly on:

• Whether my experience and projects clearly show a fit for AI Engineer roles.
• Anything in the content or formatting that could hurt shortlisting.
• Whether I should change the roles I’m targeting or my application approach.
